My update.....1 lonesome embie

Post by KarenSmiff »

Hi everyone,

well I am currently on day 3 of 2ww, but after 8 follies (i am a short protocoler and a poor responder), I had five eggs collected (my best so far). called them the following day for results, we had icsi and only one egg was any good, absoloutely gutted, well that one eggie went onto fertilize, bless it!, and is sitting in my tum, hopefully!

I was really preying for this cycle to work (3rd time), & know I must shrug these negative feelings off to give this little mite a chance, oh and it was 2 cell , which i know isnt anything to shout about, but stranger things have happened. The embyoglogist said that during the last couple of months he had seen a few woman had gotten pregnant with only the one egg, so must stay positive.

Well, what i wanted to also say, is that i cant help feeling that the doctor doesnt give a Sh&t, he seems to be a shoulder shrugger, I even wonder whether they had gotten me in to early for ec, cus I still had drugs leftover??? Also, at all of my reviews, he has never requested that I change drugs, (MENOPUR 5 amps) he said that I will always produce the same amount of eggs?????? Well isnt Gonal F supposed to be much better?????????? God, I'm even thinking of the next cyle b4 this result, I must get a grip !!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY (PREYING THAT I WILL GET A CARD NEXT YEAR )

The good thing is that you got 1 and you have a good chance as if you were to get PG naturally, If it helps I was on Gonal F and I only got 4 eggs , I thought Menopur was better ! :? anyway you keep a positive mind and we will spur your wee little embie on , I had 3 put back last time and it still didnt increase my chance , if its gonna work it will

Have you a name for your little embie?

Mine were Walter and Jack and their mate last time !!!!

Hi KarenSmiff,
I'm sending you some positive vibes ++++++++++++
Its hard isn't it when we have these doctors ruling our lives. I haven't got any advice I'm afraid. I responded quite well to the drugs, but after a failed cycle I have lots of questions unanswered. My consultant has the worst people skills ever .... he never wants to get into a conversation.
I'm sure however that an embryologist would not put an embie back that he didn't think had a chance of making it, so I'm sure its going to be bedding down just now.
So relax and have nice chats with the embie.
The questions can wait ......
Good Luck and I really do hope that next year you will be enjoying a fantastic mothers day.
From Sophie Jane.
Aged 32. 1st ivf failed March 04. Going to try again with my frosties.
Have a scruffy dog called Tobye.

Hi Karen, well done for getting one, think how many people finish a tmt at EC....you just keep that little embie warm and safe. My clinic also told me that they'd had pgs from a single embie being popped back. We're all here for you....go Karen's embie (yes it needs a name!).

love

Hey Karen,
There have been LOTS of girls on this site who have been pregnant after only one little embie went in..As they say, it only takes one...I agree with the other girls, your embie need a name (mine are little Belinda and John -this is what our consultant called them after she popped them in!!)..makes it nicer to chat to them with a name!

Dear Karen

It does only take one embie so you must try to be positive. It will work! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Nikola, the 'NHS prisoner' on the other side had two 'crappy embies' put back just for a laugh - in her words not mine and now she is 29ish weeks PG with twins. Don't give up hope as that's all we have.

Take care and lots of PMA.

Love Dagny xx

Good luck Karen. It really does only take one! Keep it safe and warm!

As to the menapur/Gonal question, I've been on menapur and am a poor responder also. My hospital is switching to Gonal F but they said it probably won't change the response, it's just safer because it's synthetic rather than natural (old womens wee!!) - I think I'll stick with Menapur next time as I have some vials left over from abandoned attempt last time.

fingers crossed

Hi Karen,
I joined this board when at my 3 rd ivf try I found I had only 2 embies (had 6 before) and was quite discouraged. The girls kept telling me it only takes one! and indeed, they put two back and now I am pregnant with twins. So relax and don't forget this one may be all you need!
good luck,
love,
juliana
