Ghost....

What are some reasons I would spot during early pregnancy? I just found out I was pregnant last week and since the ET I have spotted a couple times(pinkish brown). Just a little bit, I wipe it away and then it completely stops, but last night I took my pio shot and suppository a later then usual and I had a little red blood in the middle of the night that stopped too right away. My doctor keeps telling me it is normal and not to worry but thats hard to do. Could it be the progesterone or should I stay off my feet to be safe?I am on my feet alot as a teacher. Any advice please

Bleeding is very common, especially in early pregnancies following IVF, and usually does not indicate a problem. Keep your doctor informed, as only he can tell you what is okay for you.

I'm no expert, not even close, but the cause has something to do with excessive estradiol building an unusually thick endometrium during stimulation, and the hormone balance afterward not being ideal for sustaining it, so some endometrium is lost. We got this a lot in cycles where we did not give estradiol supplements along with the progesterone. But it can also occur in cycles with the estradiol.

I had spotting and bleeding with my pregnancy early on as well. I started out on suppositories, but I had to switch to PIO shots because the suppositories irritated my cervix. FWIW, I spotted off and on until around 12 weeks. Good luck to you!

jen8675309 Thanks that makes me feel alot better! I see you had had twins. I had my first beta last week at 10dp5dt and it was 600. My nurse said it could be twins. Did you have some cramping early on in your pregnancy as well. [/b]

Hey usmcwife14 ~ Yep, I had cramping when I was preggers with the twins. I had cramping, felt generally crummy. You can see my beta #s in my siggy. My RE also thought I could be carrying twins because of my high beta #s, as it turned out, she was right! I had my first u/s at 5w6d and not only saw 2 sacs, but also saw 2 heartbeats! When is your first u/s? Having twins is AWESOME! I would love to have another set! GL!
