My coworker is 23 weeks and has a LOT of movement. Hers hasn't been so pleasant though. It kicks her alot near her bladdder...ouch! Her OB told her he (she's having a boy) should start to move up higher. I just can't imagine feeling 2 babies kicking around in there! Still though, I'm looking forward to it too :D

By the way, we're staying at Staybridge Suites in Ft. Wayne. It's at 5925 Ellison Road. Not sure if that's near anything interesting. We totally aren't going to be on a schedule once we get there so we're game for anything (lunch, dinner, park, etc.) at any time. We'll all be huge by then

mt, we must have been posting at the same time. I just got off antibiotics for an infection. I hear they are pretty common in pregnancies so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. I've had bladder infections in the past so I didn't freak out much. My OB didn't tell me to wait to take the meds though. The day she called me, she went ahead and called my pharmacy and put in the prescription. I picked it up that same day and started taking them. I had just hit my 11 wks mark. I would guess that your infection isn't that bad because otherwise I couldn't imagine they'd make you wait. Good luck on your screening!!

urine infection

Post by Tara2009 »

mt - don't worry much about the urine infection. I also heard that it is common among pregnant women because the harmone changes affect the urine tract. It is easily treated with antibiotics. You will be fine soon.

Hi everyone!!!!

I haven't been signed on for a while, just so busy with work and sleepy and tired. Well yesterday was my u/s and ohhhh it was amazing. My baby has visible little feet and hands and was "swimming" around. The h/b was strong at 178 and measured exactly 10w5d. It was my first ob appt so it was a nightmare! Did everyone get a pelvic exam at their 1st appt? they did it for me and it was awfully painful. The doctor said my uterus is already high and moving and thats why I'm showing a little. I also got a lot of gifts from them from parenting magazines to a diaper bag, changin pad, diapers etc.... i'm not sure why so soon but it was a great awakening that I'm indeed pregnant. I only get 2 u/s for entire pregnancy so i already had one which leaves me with one at 20 weeks!  I told my doctor no way i can wait that long so she suggested i get the test where they check for the baby measurements and draw some blood. I'm ok with that since there's only an u/s involved and i get to see the baby again in 2.5 weeks :D Its at the hospital thou so I have to drive a little but its ok, I'm up for anything not involving any risks to see the baby!!

I feel weird showing already since most of you ladies are couple of weeks more than me but like my ob said every pregnancy is diff and every womans body is diff. I'm not complaining thou i like my bump :D ohh and i gained 5 lbs already!!!

Well enough about me, I hope all of you ladies are doing good, i cant wait until we all find out (for those who want to find out) baby's sex and feel the movements. I know it will be here before we know it!

dys- so glad things are going well. I also elected to do the first trimester screenings so I could get an extra u/s. Where are you going to do it? Is it a Yale affiliated place on Long Wharf in New Haven? That's where I went and I was even able to get them to record some of it on a dvd for me. Wherever you go, you should see it they ever record them. We also did more testing (for heart defects) at 18wks, which again was another chance to see our baby. After the 20 wk one, there weren't supposed to be anymore unless something was wrong, but no way we could wait that long...so we paid for one of those 3d/4d elective u/s, and it was well worth it, we got a dvd of that too. I just saw on the news that CT might be banning them...which I don't agree with, that u/s is actually what told us Ella was breech and we needed a c-section.

Life is starting to calm down a bit...so maybe lunch soon? When is your sisters wedding, maybe after that is over...I will pm you soon

Hey dys24! Long time no hear :) . Fortunately I didn't have the pelvic exam and they haven't mentioned me having to have one. My coworker did have one and she also said it was VERY painful. I only recceived coupons, magazines and a $10 target gift card at my visit. Sounds like you got the hook-up  I opted not to do the 1st trimester screening since they said the testing I'll have done later this month will cover most everything. Plus I'm told I'd get a u/s just about every visit :D :D :D So glad to hear the baby is doing fine and such a strong heartbeat! Mine had slowed down from week 9 to week 10 from 168 to somewhere in the 150s....I'm hoping that means there's a boy in there somewhere

Well I hope everyone has a great weekend!! I'm going to try to make a quick trip the beach.

I'm so glad it's Friday! I'm so worn out by the end of the week. Still no spotting so I'm starting to feel more relaxed.

Cymplicity - I haven't been to the hotel you're staying at but I looked it up on mapquest. It's about 25 minutes from where I live. There's some good restaurants on that side of town.

dys - Glad to hear your u/s went great! I had a pelvic exam at my first OB appointment. I didn't have any pain but I did spot for a couple days afterwards. That's awesome they gave you so many gifts! All I got was a lot of information about what to eat and not to eat and information about classes.

Mt - Don't worry about the infection. Like everyone else said, it's common in pregnancy.

I finally figured out how to post pictures on here so here's an ultrasound pic...

screenin test

Post by Tara2009 »

Ladies,

I had previously posted saying that my first trimester screening results were normal. Actually looks like I missed part of the results. The ultrasound results(NT and NB numbers) were quite normal. But I didn't know that they combine my blood results also with this number for the final risk analysis. After my blood results came out, the doctor said my risk is 1:50 for downs syndrom, which places me in high risk. They are pushing me towards amniocentesis test. I am so scared to take this test because of the risk of miscarriage. I am not able to make any decision. Some friends told me that I need not worry, since this ratio is just a risk analysis and not a diagnosis. Some people say that the doctors always try to market these tests since they are expensive. I am so confused. Any advice for me? I will also post this in the general forum so that I will get more inputs.

Tara.

Tara2009, it seems to be a sucky weekend for us both :( .

Ladies, I've gone just about the whole time with no spotting/no worries. This morning around 4:30 a.m. I got out of bed to go pee and felt something wet between my legs. On my way to the bathroom I kinda reached under to feel my underwear and felt that whatever it was had completely soaked them! I was terrified to turn on the light...to my horror it was bright red blood! I sat on the toilet (TMI coming...) and as I urinated blood continued to flow heavily. Then I felt something "pass". Before this I had felt NO pain or cramping. Even as it passed I didn't feel any pain. So I'm standing there in shock looking at all the blood and just reached in to grab whatever came out of me. It was two blood clots, both about twice as big as a chicken liver with that same texture. That's when I started screaming for my husband. Once I gained my composure I sent him to get a zip lock bag so that I could take it with my to the emergency room. We immediately assumed I had lost one or both the babies. At the ER they did an ultrasound and to my surprise both babies were doing fine with strong heartbeats! One was even sucking his thumb and the other was dancing around. I was SOOO confused and the ER doc was not being much help. He was extremely vague, telling me that it was a good sign that babies are doing well and my cervix is closed BUT it could still be an early sign of a miscarriage :? Only my OB can tell me what's going on for sure and I have to call in the morning to get in to see her. Uggghhhh! For now I'm on bed rest.

After researching my symptoms on the net and talking to a friend who's an ER nurse, I'm really hoping it's placenta previa (low lying placenta). I read I would be at higher risk for it carrying 2 babies. The good thing is it would mean I'm not miscarrying, the bad thing is I could continue to have episodes like this throughout my pregnancy. But I won't complain about bleeding if it gets me to a healthy baby!

I plan to post this on the general board to to see if anyone else has experienced it.

Thanks for listening ladies! I'll keep you posted on my OB visit (tomorrow hopefully).

cynthia-- I will be praying for you! Hopefully it is nothing! If both babies looked goood then maybe its just the placenta. Will you go to the OB tomorrow? I had a friend you had a blood pocket that bled her entire pregnancy and everything was fine. She wasnt aloud to do any heavy lifting or strenuous activities. Just thought I would share.

Thank you Neffi!! Hearing that others experience this and still going on to have healthy pregnancies makes me feel much better :) I have to call my OB in the morning. I'm sure I'll get in to see them some time tomorrow. For now I'm just resting. The bleeding appears to have stopped for now.

cymplicity - I'm so glad to hear the babies are ok! That would have really scared me to see all that blood especially with clots. Hopefully your OB will get you in tomorrow. It's probably placenta previa like you said. That was my problem last week too but I didn't bleed as much as you. I also had a friend at work that was pregant with twins with placenta previa. She bled throughout her entire pregnancy. She was on bed rest for about 3 months but took home two healthy boys. Let us know how it goes tomorrow!

Cynthia - I got scared even by reading your post about the bleeding, I understand how you must have felt. I am so so glad that the babies are doing fine. May be this is something else, and the OB should be able to take care of it. Please keep us posted.
