I just wanted to share our good news. The results from our amnio came back completely normal. What a relief to have all of that behind us and now we can look forward and focus on enjoying the pregnancy of our baby boy.
oh charr, hooray! such good news. and a baby boy at that.
excited, good luck with your amnio. We too have joined that class whirlwind. We are taking our first "beginners" class on thursday. We get a tour of the hospital and probably will be signed up for a slew of other classes.
I don't even want to think about the mommy and me classes because I too live in LA and well, nuff said.
Tried the Burt's Bees belly cream. it's really nice stuff. Kinda thick, but I like it.
Huge Congrats Charr!!!! Wow, a baby boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aspotoftea - I got a call back from one of the baby classes - the November baby class is already full and I am on the waiting list!!!!!!!! I called when I was 3.5 months pregnant. This is crazy!!!!!!!!
I am getting nervous for the amnio Tuesday. I know we are in good hands, but it is still scary. Will check in again after.
CHARR: Congratulations on the amnio results!!!! :-) I couldn't be happier for you. Now you can just relaxand enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
I got my AFP results back; they came up normal. I will be seeing a perinatologist soon for a detailed ultrasound and based on that decide whether to do an amnio or not.
I'm glad to see everyone's doing ok.
Finally got some maternity bras. what relief that was!!
charr - Great news on your amnio, and congrats on your baby boy! Full steam ahead now with all the fun stuff like shopping!!
aspotofTea/excited-in-la - Wow, I'm so glad I live in a village with a population of 2,600, a significant portion of whom are retirees. It means there's a lot more competition for getting in to see a good urologist than there is to get into birthing/baby classes! My sister used Burt's stuff and the baby Badger Balms exclusively for her two kids. I'll have to check out the belly cream - do you know if it has any almonds or other nuts in the ingredients? I'm allergic to nuts.
nancy1 - I'm glad to hear your AFP came back normal. I had blood drawn last Monday, but it being me of course there was some kind of technical error and they needed to take more on Tuesday. I just bought 32DD bras this weekend. Crazy.
Our ultrasound is this Thursday, which is when I imagine they will tell me what the results of the blood tests are. We're also hoping to find out if it's a boy or a girl. Both of our families are raring to go. My Nana and aunt want to know if they should start knitting in pink, I want to know if we need to repaint the nursery, and everybody else wants to be able to buy things. We have been joking around that it's going to be like a starting gun going off Thursday at 4:30 once we know!

wondercat, I read the ingredients last night, and it has macadamia nut oil in it. Booooo. But, there are so many belly creams out there, my head was spinning. Also, how exciting that you will find out this week!
We have to wait two more weeks and the families, in particular, the mother in laws, are climbing the walls.
Does anyone else have this feeling: I work in an office, and sit at my desk most of the day. By the end of the day some days, I'm sore down there, and I feel like it is because it's getting full and heavy. I sit on a pillow, but I'm still sorta uncomfortable by day's end.
aspotoftea: Although I'm certain you're further along than I am, I too have that feeling- it doesn't matter if I get up and try to walk around, in an effort to relieve that feeling, either. Some of it is probably ligaments stretching, too- I have that right now. I also sit most of the day.
By mid-day every day, I feel like my belly is twice the size it started at in the morning and feels very tight. During the day the baby rests really low, just above my pubic bone which can be somewhat uncomfortable at times. But when I'm lying down, he moves up more towards my belly button. I feel him moving so often now which is so neat.
Excited in LA - I hope all went well with your amnio. Now just take it easy for a day or two. Are you having FISH results or waiting for the full results?
Nancy - That's great that your AFP results came back normal. Keep us posted on how your appt. with the peri goes.
The amnio was completely uneventful - thanks God! The doctor told me to close my eyes and stuck in the needle. It felt like it had been about a minute and I asked what was next, he said we were done. I could not believe it.
I have been on bedrest for the past two days. My mom came over and we watched movies and played board games -it was actually sort of nice.
I had wanted to wait for the full results, but my husband asked them to run the FISH results, which we got back today - and all is normal! The full results are back in about 2 weeks - so fingers crossed on those!
I am also about double the size at the end of the day than at the beginning. It is crazy! But I feel way better than I did the first trimester, so I am not complaining!
We had an ultrasound yesterday (almost didn't, more on that later) and everything looked great. IT'S A BOY! It's nice to be able to put a gender and name on this little interloper at last. I guess this weekend I buy some blue paint and start getting the room ready. Also the blood test results were back, and everything looked great. Astronomically low chances of anything being wrong. Phew. He was dancing around in there like crazy, which was fun to see. And thanks to the stellar competence of the receptionists at my doctor's office I'll get to see him again in two weeks!!

wondercat: WHEW. So happy for you, enjoy getting that room ready! We'll be taking down the queen bed and start getting the room ready for our little 'unknown'- whom I can feel squirming around every so often! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
