June Cycle ICSI IVF

Post by saffy1505 »

Hi all
I'm Dawn and I started the buserelin injections on the 2nd June.
I am day 6 on this and so far, have had a bit of discomfort in my lower abdomen and been feeling overly emotional. Cry at the drop of a hat. angry the next.
the injections are horrible, my husband injects me as i'm too needle phobic, and it hurts everytime, I close my eyes because i can't stand to watch. thing is he had to come home during a night out with the lads last night coz i can't do it to myself. And he is going to have to cancel a work night out too. I can't help but feel really bad for him.
I am just hoping to have a bleed soon so we can start the puregon too. Just wondered if anyone else is on their ICSI IVF cycle? and whether the bleed will be like a period or just a light spotting?
We are hoping to have the egg retrieval and insemination by the end of June. Hoping to find people to talk to who are going through this too.

Good luck to all

Dawn xxxxx
Luck to you all

Hi Dawn,

I don't know if this will help but I went through IVF with ICSI myself, though with differrent meds and I am 17 weeks now! So hang in there and just concentrate on your goal. I know the injections are not easy and that it really affects your daily schedule to be home at the same time to get them. But now that those are a few months away, I even forgot how uncomfortable they were!!!
Hang in there,
Nancy

Hi Dawn

I am about to start my second IVF ICSI cycle. On the first one a couple of months ago I started with burserelin injections for down reg too. The bleed I had was quite heavy but only lasted 3 days. I don't know if this is the same for others though.
I know the injections are quite disruptive but hopefully the result will make it all worth while. I was the opposite of you and would not let my husband do the injection. My theory was that if it hurt I could stop but he would not know.
I don't know if it helps but I found that holding the needle differently made the pain easier. Also, cooling the injection area first made it easier also.
Good luck

Ange

Hi Dawn,

I started my down reg injections on 5th June! Your tummy does get a little sore after a while. This is my 4th IVF ICSI cycle. I also get emotional - even worse when the stimulation injections start! I feel so sorry for my husband! I tend to get hot sweats/flushes once i've had (hopefully!) my last period. And that does seem to be a lot heavier and painful than my normal periods. Must be to do with the injections - i don't think we ever realise how powerful and strong these drugs are from IVF!

Also I do my own down reg injections - but there's no way i do the stimulaton injections! Too painful so i'd never do it! My husband is very sweet and gives me a big kiss and cuddle afterwards! Bless!

Hi Angie - i'm guessing by your username you're from Hull? I'm also from Hull - you attend the Hull IVF unit? if so they are lovely people there, always friendly and happy to help.

Fingers crossed for us all that our time has come to be mums!
