Hi Ladies,

Great to hear all your news.

Rosario: I don't know what a beta is but I am sending positive vibes and prayers your way. I would LOVE you to be the first of many pregnant ladies on this board.

Nicksgam: to answer your question about how I'm feeling while stimming - actually, OK. I was expecting tons of side effects but (touch wood) it hasn't happened so far. I'm black and blue from bruises but otherwise feeling good. Only thing is that my libido has hit rock bottom. DH is not happy due to no sex for ages (sorry if that's too much info - but having a sulky husbad doesn't help things!). I hope you're doing well and managing to take it easy...

To Stay Positive and all others concerned about being older parents, PLEASE don't worry about this. I know people in their 50s who are more young at heart and with more energy and enthusiasm for life than some very boring and 'world-weary' people in their 20s. We live in a very ageist society where youth is everything. Well, (as they say in the UK) 'bollocks to that'. You are amazing and healthy women with alot to give. That's all that counts.

AFM: I saw my RE (is that a doctor?) on Friday when I had been stimming for 4 days. He said that I have 7 follicles growing and that more might still appear. I'm going back on Monday for another check. He said that he would expect ER at around the end of next week. Does that all sound normal to those of you more experienced in these matters?

Love and positivity to all. X

Kushka- Beta is the pregnancy blood test that happens 2 weeks after you retrieval. RE is your doctor, it stands for reproductive endocrinologist. 7 follies at 4 days sounds good. I had around 6 at day 4, but then at day 6 that number went way up, so yes, you can still have more, day 4 is very early in the process. Most clinics do not even check until day 6.

Thanks for the explanation CT_Michele. I'm feeling happier to know I'm in the realm of normal.

Bye the way, I bought a great pair of shoes yesterday. I think I can seriously recommend shoe shopping as a tried and tested 'take your mind off it all' device!

Cuppycake—I had my first ER last week and I too was very scared. At my clinic they put me in a medicated slumber. The worsted part is the IV, which is not painful at all. I have no recollection of the procedure; I just woke up in the recovery room. I pretty much slept the rest of the day at home; I did take a couple of Tylenol because my ovaries were a little sore. Yes you will need some there, but only to drive you home. Good luck; I am praying you get lot of eggs.

Cuppycake - welcome to the board. Just to reassure you further like niksgam I do not remember much of the procedure as my clinic also put you in a medicated state. I remember getting the first lot of drugs and the nurse telling me there were 21 eggs. I felt like I had period pain the rest of the day and ibuprofen helped with this.
Good luck and I hope you get lots of eggs

OK guys so I had a little trip to the emergency room last night. I saw blood on my pantyliner and I got worried. I took a digital pregnancy test and showed "pregnant". In the end I was worrying for nothing my beta yesterday at the hospital at 8dp5dt was 171.6... OMG girls I am pregnant. I have to run. Internet at home is down so I am here at my uncles house.

Rosaria~ the bleeding was probably from implantation bleed. Congrats!!

cuppycake ~ as the other ladies stated, I don't remember any of it, they put me to sleep and I woke up with a number of how many retrieved. No problems at all, maybe a little crampy but nothing major. As nicksgam stated the worst part is the IV and it didn't hurt.. You'll pull through fine! Hope you get lots of follies!

You ladies on discussing the age... my mom had me when she was 38yrs. old, and dad was 48yrs. Which is only a few years diff from our age now, but my point I wanna make is my parents were the best ever! Alot more patients I think goes with age. Not that young are not so good parents, but I am just saying that we should have no problems raising. My dad died, however, when I was 22 years old. He was 69. He had cancer of the esophagus. But he still had been there for me through my toughest teen years! My mom is still living at the age of 78, will be 79 this year. She is strong as ever! Is a big quilter and our relationship as mother and daughter are strong. So I have to say that I am not going to worry about my age as a parent, as my childhood growing up was great!

Hello all,

Welcome Sheri, hjw, marymeganB, katie99, amyj, poontater and cuppycake. Thanks for sharing all of your stories and welcome to this thread.

Welcome morningglory, I know it’s tough, but try to keep your PMA up for this cycle, it sounds like they learned a lot from your last cycle so that will only make this one more likely to work!

CT_Michele-I’m glad your Grandma is feeling better and I hope you can resolve your neck issues. I wish I could answer your estrogen levels question, just stay calm, I’m sure things will work out.

Rosario-Congratulations!! I am so, so happy for you!! Way to start off this board with a BFP!! Your POAS chronicles were interesting to follow, are you glad you did them?? I’ve done them with both of my FET’s but I didn’t do it with my fresh cycle a year ago because I was afraid of false positives from the trigger shot. I’ve been going back and forth over whether I want to do them with this fresh cycle. Did you get a good deal somewhere online for bulk pregnancy tests??

EYCI-Congratulations on being PUPO.

To_Have_Fun08-welcome back, glad to hear you had a nice vacation. Sorry to hear about the loss of some of your insurance coverage, that’s definitely a bummer.

Nicksgam-I worry about everything too and when I woke up from my ER I was crying too, so I can definitely relate to all the worrying. My biggest worry this time around is that they fertilize. I’m glad everything went well with ER and ET and now you’re PUPO, yay!

Prayin4BFP-I’m glad AF came, it’s so frustrating to actually wish AF to come and for once she just won’t…glad it worked out.

So, I went in for my down regulation US and BW last Wednesday and everything is going forward as planned. I started my stims this past Friday, 240 of Follistim. CT_Michele can you please move me up on the list? And my Lupron dosage was reduced to 10 last Thursday. I go in for more BW tomorrow and than I think BW and an US on Wednesday. Now just dealing with some mood swing issues from the stims, headaches from the Lupron, and I just feel really exhausted, which could be from a variety of things, but I’ll blame the drugs for that too.

Take care all.

I just got back from seeing my RE. I am on day 8 since I started stimming and I have 5 big follicles and a bunch of other ones that are quite small. I was told on day 4 that I had 7 follicles, but it was a different guy that did the test and he obviously didn't explain properly. I think 5 is quite low on day 8 so I'm feeling a bit down and for the first time in a while facing the worry that this whole thing might not work. Ugh!! They're talking about doing ER on Saturday or Sunday. It doesn't feel like much time for many more follicles to grow. I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has any thoughts on this.

Kuska, You'd be surprised at how many "pop" at the end. I'm sure you'll be great. Try to keep your chin up! Remember, this is such an up and down process. You'll make it!

Good Morning everyone...

To all the ladies a bit worried about the age thing...I found 2 articles on babyzone that you should read. They are both by Jan Andersen and talk about being a "older" parent, and I think you will enjoy reading them.

http://www.babyzone.com/pregnancy/healt ... er-parents

http://www.babyzone.com/pregnancy/healt ... pregnancy/

Rosario- I am so sorry to hear about the emergency room trip, but on a happier note...you are officially pregnant! Yay for our first bfp! What a good way to start off our thread.
Image

cuppycake- I love the username! Every now and then a username comes along that I just love, and yours is one of them. I have been through ER twice, I remember the first time was not bad, I went to work the next day. The second time was worse, pain for a couple of days, I think maybe because I had more eggs the 2nd time. But both time I was under sedation and do not remember the procedure at all. I am sure you will do just fine.

belle- I moved you up on the list...yay for stimming. Do you know when your expected ER will be? My neck is much better than it was...thanks for thinking of me.

Well girls, nothing new for me, just continuing lupron, and wiating and hoping those estrogen levels go down before thursday. I will update you later in the week of course.
