Encouragement

Post by *Ert* »

Hi,

I am really needing some encouragement or success stories with few follicles. I am in the process of my second IVF. My first was in January. By going through it we found out I am a poor responder. I only had 5 mature follicles. I did get 5 mature eggs and 4 fertilitzed. We had two 8 cell B+ embryos transferred and one took. I ended up having a miscarraige at 8 weeks. Now I am doing the flare protocol instead of the long lupron and we are seeing worse results. At my first ultrasound they saw 5 follicles growing and today I went in and it looks like out of those 5 only 3 are growing. I am 30 years old with a FSH of 12 and a low antral follicle count. My AMH was on the lower end too but within normal range. I am so discouraged. This protocol was supposed to be better and now it is turning out worse. As of now I am waiting until Friday to see if those 3 continue to grow. If they do I guess it is up to us. The nurse did say we can always cancel and see if I do better another month. Well, obviously I am not going to do great with all my tests and my past cycle. Anyone think I have a chance?

Dont give up! There is always a chance. Trust that there is a higher power, whichever one you believe in. He has a plan. I think right now you need to wait until Friday and get new results. It is amazing how quickly things change in this process. The most important thing is that you keep you PMA!! Your body needs only positive energy. Let us know what happens Friday. Drink lots of water and relax.

Hi,

I agree with the other post....stay positive and things change day by day.

I have an FSH of 12.5 and only had 4 retrieved my last round. I started doing acupuncture to relax and also to lower my FSH, and this time around I have 10 :)

Good luck to you and keep us posted!!

I completely agree with Daisy106. Also, MedStudentMom also had a tough pre-tranfer experience, is pregnant now. So, miracles do happen. Have strong faith..

ERT, don't give up at all, what matters is that these follicles produce quality eggs, and this it seems occurred in your previous cycle.

One important thing is for you to check on what you eat, make sure you eat healthily, browse on the net to look for foods that aids fertility, i.e egg production and qualitative ones for that matter, start immediately. At the end of the day a good state of the body and well being does the miracles.

I responded poorly on my first trial, 6 eggs , only two made it to transfer, well implantation failed. The second one I was conscious of what I ate, I produced 13 eggs, 7 quality grades survived, 3 transferred, implantation failed again, but the good thing is I have 3 frozen ones to try again in November this year.

So know what you eat and how it will help you achieve your aim.

Best of Luck

Dont give up hope! I have been through 5 IVF cycle. Both of my BFP were cycles that I thought were failures. My 1st and 2nd cycles were textbook. BFN and chemical. Both I had 18 eggs, but nothing to freeze. My 3rd cycle I only had 7! I was devastated and ended up with three to transfer and got my BFP. You only need one! My 4th cycle was great. 20some eggs and BFN. My 5th cycle we had to delay with meds to check my uterus and my E2 was high and I was sure it would fail.....BFP! I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. I now think that the ones I think will fail will be my BFP! You only need ONE! My last transfer I had three, but two were not good quality. My one single good embie made it!

Thank you so much for all your encouragement. Hearing your stories and positive attitudes really does help. It means so much more when it comes from someone who has been through all this and knows how I am feeling.

Well, I went in today for bloodwork and ultrasound. I have 3 good follicles and possibly a 4th that will be big enough at retrieval. My estorgen levels are good too. I took this as good news today that the three continued to grow and now another one may be part of the game. I go back on Sunday and they are thinking that is when I will trigger.

I will keep you posted. Thank you again for the support!!

I can understand how you're feeling but I agree with everyone else. I am a poor responder too 3 IVFs with one BFP on my first try and a beautiful baby boy. My first try was a success and I only had one embryo to transfer after 5 eggs retrieved!! The past 2 cycles have been BFN with 3 and 4 eggs but I'm not ready to quit just yet.

Good luck on sunday!!! You need to stay positive!!

Hey girl it must be very difficult to be in your shoes right at the moment but stay positive if the 3 turn out to be good eggs and fertilize you only need just one to get pregnant. but ultimately the decision is totally up to u to go for retrieval or to call it off. you are in my prayers and may god bless you both very soon. :D

Hi,

I had my retrieval yesterday. They retrieved 6 eggs. Only 2 were mature and those have both fertalized. The other two were immature and two were degenerated. I know I need to focus on the two we have but this just does not seem like good news. I have to wait until tomorrow to see how they are developing.

Hi Ladies,

ERT- Dont stress. I am in same boat. I had ET today and only got one embryo put back. They say it can happen - look at the other's examples. We just have to stay positive.

Daisy106 I was going to post on the other board but now I see you posted here!! Yes, you and Ert have a great chance!!! I did it and so can you!!!

Just try to stay positive (better said than done). My last 2WW were sooooo easy, I was super relaxed and taking good care of myself. I read books I always wanted to read, went out for short walks, watch tons of movies (alone and with DH), got nails done, out with friends for dinner etc... just try to keep your mind somewhere else, but somewhere you are happy.

You still have a chance, please don't stress I know how frustrating it can be but there's hope!!! Both will be in my prayers!!! Best of luck and keep me posted.

Ert,

Two is GREAT! I'm in a similar boat to you, although I'm 7 years older! I had only 3 eggs and 2 fertilized. At first I was devastated because I had been expecting to have some to freeze etc, but I was only ever going to put 2 back, so I totally have what I need for now. I'll worry about the next round if it comes to that. I don't know how many you were hoping to transfer but I'm tipping it wasn't much more than 2, so you got what you need for now! Just focus on your two embies, be positive and don't think past the next two weeks. The amazing stories on this board should give you so much reason to be positive. And if you needed any more reasons to be positive, my RE told me he had a woman who produced 1 follicle, 1 egg retrieved and fertilised and who now has a baby! And my friend had one embryo transferred and she is now 8 months preg. You don't need loads! Good luck. Kx
