ghost! is it possible to pregnant with only 1 at transfer?

Post by tiffywall86 »

Hey guys. Im 23 and currently going thorugh my 1st cycle of ivf. My doctor will only put 1 embrio back because of my age.... I think this is rediculous. Has anyone gotten pregnant with only transfering 1?

Pregnancy is quite possible with just one transferred. Just a little less likely than with two, but the twin rate is dropped significantly.

Absolutely! I am 31 and my husband and I opted to only have one transferred to reduce the chance of twins. We were unsuccessful the first go round, but I am almost 7 weeks pregnant after the 2nd transfer! Good Luck!

Oh my gosh, 1 is so less risky than 2. My friend ELECTIVELY insisted on putting only 1 back on day 3. Did not want a twin pregnancy risk. Her baby is healthy as a horse at 10 weeks. Do not stress!

This is pretty common among fertility centers when your young. I am 27, DH 28, and we just finished our first IVF cyle. We ended up with 11 embryo's and implanted one as per our RE's recommendation. We are now 7 weeks pregnant. Our RE said that with our age and the "unexplained infertility", puting in more than one would not increase the chance of becoming pregnant. It was eithor going to work or not. So we would eithor have 2 babies or none. So, I would trust what your doc is recommending. Hope that helps! Good Luck!

We didn't have a choice on our first IVF since we just got one embryo to transfer but we are now blessed with a beautiful baby boy (now a toddler!!). I think that is o.k to transfer just one to reduce the risk of a multiple pregnancy, trust your doctor. Good luck!!
DH and Me 30

Sure! We just finished our first cycle, Im 29, DH 31 and we were only able to put one back in at transfer, it was a really good quality one, but we are now pregnant after round 1 so trust the doctors they know what they are doing!

Hi

It is good to hear all these positive stories as our clinic has a similar policy. We were hoping to transfer 2 this cycle but we can only do this if we have a 3 day transfer but our clinic always push for a 5 day transfer where possible. You have all cheered me up with these stories :D
