really... how much weight?

Post by acornmom »

I just read that with twin pregnancies a woman should gain between 35-40lbs? Is this correct? OMG I am not that fussy about my weight but I just can't imagine being that big!

How much did everyone gain during their pregnancy? especially if you had twins. Thanks so much!

During my sister's twin pregnancy, she gained 40 lbs and she is NOT a big girl. She's about 5'2" and pretty small normally. So when she gained the 40 lbs, she looked pretty large by the end. But remember, it is all worth it in the end.

BTW - She lost all of the preggo weight...not immediately, but she is definitely back down to her pre-preggo weight (and has been for a while) and the girls are 2 years old.

I am 7 months along and have gained 25 lbs so far. I'm not going to lie it's a little scary to think how your stomach is going to look after but I'm sure when I see their little faces it will all be worth it! I've been stocking up on workout videos to try and do what I can to get my pre twins body back lol!!

Hey there,
I gained 36 pounds all in all, but have lost it all already - it really was all in the belly too, so I did look amazingly pregnant!
My babies are 15 weeks old now, breastfeeding definitely helps to lose the weight!
Good luck to you :D

LOL thanks gals. I just want to clarify. I know it is defintly worth it. no doubt there! I just wondered. It is just that with my DD, I only gained 10 lbs (lost weight and gained baby weight) so I have no real idea what to expect with twins. Thanks again!

Everyone is so different and I simply concentrated on just being healthy and eating well with my twins. I'm on the small side at 5'2" and ended up only gaining 28 lbs. total. My OB didn't complain because the babies were actually big for their gestational age and he knew I was eating like a horse. My body just ended up being very efficient at sending all the nutrients to the babies.

I breastfed them as well and that got me to my pre-baby weight in two weeks. At about three weeks the swelling from my c-section was all gone and I was in all my normal clothes again.

Your body will do whatever it knows it needs to do and all you have to do is listen to it. Good luck and take care! :D

OK, well... not to scare you but...

I am 5'8" tall with a pretty long torso-my babies' weights are in my siggy below. Pretty good for 36w2d...until I was 7 months I had gained 25 pounds but then the water weight happened (I just didn't pee)...in total I gained 70 pounds!!! I lost 50 of it in two weeks (all water). I then lost another 15, have 10 to go...:-( but I learned to EAT while pregnant and I LOVE to do it now  Also, not to worry about the "belly" - its all in the genes. I don't have stretch marks or sagging and I am 46 now (preg at 44) but there are other women at age 25 who will get stretch marks and some muscle separation - depends on heredity...but like pp said - IT'S ALL WORTH IT (a mother's "battle scars"

OH, and EAT and ENJOY it!!! It WILL come off right away like Kholtan said if you BF and still it WILL come off anyway cause who has time to eat with twins?!?! (that actually happened to me a lot during the first 3 months- I would not eat ALL day cause I would forget with being so busy)...I wish I had allowed myself more enjoyment in eating while pregnant (after month 4 which is when the MS FINALLY went away) cause I can't eat like that now!

My wife has gained 24lbs so far and she's just over 30 weeks. She doesn't look pregnant at all beside her belly.....lol. The rest of her body looks like it did before she was pregnant. She's on bedrest now though so I'm sure she'll gain some more weight from not burning the same amount of calories as before. She craves fruits and vegetables though and not horrible food so I guess that's good.
Destiny is not a matter of chance, it's a matter of choice.

I am not having twins myself, but I just talked to a friend of mine last night who had twin boys two weeks ago at 36 weeks. She started off at 104 pounds and gained 52 pounds. The boys were 6 lbs 11 oz and 6 lbs 4 oz. To give me hope for losing my own singleton weight she wanted to let me know that in those two weeks she has already lost 32 pounds. She only looked pregnant in her belly and craved lots of fruits and veggies (though she did also admit to craving chicken nuggets, so it wasn't all health food!)
