Don't give up. Both times my HPT was negative the day before the BW. The morning of the BW it was only a "faint" line. Keep the faith. Don't POAS again until the day of the BW. That way you are prepared for the result. Up until then - think happy thoughts of being PUPO !!

garfieldtracey - thanks for the support! At what day past egg transfer did you get your blood work done when it came back positive?

Both times it was 11 days after a 3 day transfer (2 weeks after the ER).

Sharon,

I dont' think it is necessarily the number of follicles but the quality of
the eggs inside the follicles. Hopefully, you have at least one high
quality egg that will yield a blastocyst.

rdrisco: How are you doing? When is your beta?

Teachertam: My beta is Tuesday. I'll do a pregnancy test that morning just to know what I'm in for when the nurse calls with my beta results later that day. I think I'm going to see and hear that this 1st ivf cycle didn't work, as I took a test yesterday and it was negative. I know your embryos can implant on average between 6-12 dpo, but in my experience, if I haven't seen a BFP by 12 dpo, I won't...except for the cycle I had my ectopic...and I'd rather see a BFN and it be a true BFN than go through another ectopic.

I'll let you know the results of my beta sometime Tuesday.

Thanks for asking!

I always thought if I had not seen a BFP by 12 DPO it was not going to happen, I also thought I always would just know it worked as I did in the past.

This cycle changed all that. I did not get my BFP till I was 13 DPO and it as super super faint. DH said it was a BFN in fact. I could see the line. But my 14 DPO beta was only 34. So the rules just change every cycle.

I hope you get a BFP on Tuesday with our bw!!!

OH and yes 3 follies aint a lot for many on this board, but for the over 40 crowd three is good. Many over 40 get zero. I got between 3 and 5 follies with 5 being cycle 1 and 3 being cycle 4. But of the 15 total follies over 4 cycles, I got 12 embies and 2 genetically normal embies. So that is 2/12 embies or 1/6. BUT my second cycle I was taking weird meds and that cycle was just very different from others so I think meds screwed it up. So if I take that cycle away then stats are 11 follies, 10 embies and 2/10 genetically normal embies!

1/5 is pretty good and I have noticed (and maybe my imagination) that those of use will less embryos tend to have a descent chance at getting our BFPS. They base our chances (at least with me) n numbers of follies, age and FSH, but I really don't think any of that can really tell you about quality, just quantity! If you have few eggs but they are good quality, its gonna be hard to get preggers without help, but with help it wont be impossbile!

Good luck you guys!

Triggering tonight at 12:00am...soooo nervous, retrieval on Wed morning!! I'm a bundle of nervous. Good thing my RE is a fan of "the one good egg" theory cause I think I only have 3 follies.

Sharon: Good luck!

As for me, this cycle is officially over. I knew it beforehand, but the nurse called with my beta results and they were negative. So I will be taking this next cycle off and then I can start up on the BCP and do it all over again.

Some things I learned from this 1st IVF cycle:
1. The injections didn't hurt much at all and were quite tolerable. Also, they gave me something constructive to do during this whole process.

2. The side effects were almost non-existent for me (PIO shots, Lupron, Follistim, etc.).

3. Egg Retrieval didn't hurt at all. I was a bit sore that night and the next day, but nothing I couldn't handle.

4. Egg Transfer was a piece of cake. The next time, i just won't drink as much water beforehand.

The worst part was the 2ww because, other than the PIO shots, there was nothing to do but wait!

Things I will do differently next cycle:
1. Instead of cutting out exercise completely, i will do moderate exercise all the way through except for ER day and the day after and ET day and the day after.

2. I won't POAS until the day before or the day of my beta.

Good luck everyone! I'll be pulling for you!

rsdrisco - I am so sorry to hear that news. I hope you re-coop quickly. My RE always makes you wait a cycle before doing another round. He wants all the meds out of your system before trying again. Keep us posted as to your next try.

As for what you learned - they are good. I exercised up to my ER, then stopped and restarted after the beta test. Also, that is why they call the HPT's "evil"!! You have to have a certain upbeat/positive "attitude" to POAS - one that I don't have, so I don't do it.

Good luck on your continuing rollercoaster ride. Sucks, I know !!

There hasn't been any activity on here for a few days... are you still open?

Can I join in?

I am 41 on 3rd and final attempt. Me and dh have been married 11yrs. I have 3 prior marriage, and grandbaby. Ages of 23, 19, and 14 all girls! 4 yr old grandbaby, also girl.. :) My tubes were tied after last one, was under the impression that I was unable to have anymore children, do to me having all 3 girls c-section. Regret!! DH has no children, of his own.
We so want a child to raise together!

Anyone else stimming? anyone doing Bravelle/menopur?

rsdrisco~ so sorry to read of your BFN.. I know the hurt. It numbing for awhile.. but I have learned on this IVF journey to trust more in God. He has plans for us, just be patient with faith and trust:) I believe and I am more at peace this cycle. :)

Getting more excited to get this show on the road!

Debbie,

Yes we are still open. There is also an "Over 40's group" under the 'General Forum". Good luck on this cycle. I am in the 2ww
of a Femara cycle. If it is a bust, I will start AF on July 4th and
begin my femara/gonal-f cycle then.

Regards,
Tammy

Ok...went for my retrieval and I ovulated before they could get them!! I was sooo upset and cried all day!!! After a few days I got myself together and decided the next cycle would be a DE cycle! We narrowed it down to 2 donors from our clinic donor program, now we wait till the end of this week till they start making matches!! I'm sooo tired of hearing my FSH (13) number and the look on the u/s techs face when did my scans!!
Ya know...that "poor girl" look!

 Rsdrisco..SOOOO sorry!!! Brush yourself off and try again!
 Debbie: We pretty much have the same story other than after
they tied my tubes they got infected the next day and I completely
lost both tubes!! Never give up sweetie!
 Tammy: Do you know what a "clear" follicle is? Before I released
them I know my right follicle was marked as "clear".

And a HUGE dusting of baby dust for anyone I missed!!!!
