Hi all, I'm Vicky, i'm 26 and been married to my husband for almost 5 years (he's 30). We have had 3 failed cycles of IVF treatment - 2 fresh cycles and a very wasted frozen cycle! We are currently in the process of our 4th cycle. I started my down reg injections a few weeks ago - just waiting for the hot flushes to start as they normally do! Not looking forward to the stimulation injections! You think you get used to all the process of things of IVF cycles but they never get easier, always seem harder!
Hi vicky, I am Kasey I am 24 and my husband is also 30. I am starting my first ever cycle. Is this cycle going to be a fresh cycle for you?? What drug are you talking now? I started Provera last week and lupron shots on Monday night, they say you get menopause type side effects so I wonder if I am going to be getting hot flashes also? Good luck to you this time it sounds like its been a tought road and also nice to meet you -Kasey
Hi Kasey, this will be my 4th cycle and it'll be a fresh cycle. I started the Buserelin (stomach) injections on the 5th June. They do stop your natural hormones and can make you experience a 'menopause'. Everytime i've been on them i've had hot flushes - at least i'll know what to expect when i do start the menopause in years to come! ha
It has been a tough 4 years since me and my husband started trying for a family. I'm feeling a lot positive now. Our Unit have changed some of their polices for treating couples. We are now going to have Blastocyst treatment with my eggs, but they only put 1 egg back in! Less chance than before but hopefully this might be 1 super egg!
I'm from Hull, East Yorkshire. We are at the Hull IVF Unit. They did used to transfer 2 eggs but apparently they have to reduce their success rate for multiple pregnancies and now they use blastocyst and only transfer 1 egg! We were a bit upset when they first told us - especially as we're paying now! We felt that 2 eggs being transferred we'd have more chance of it working! But now we feel really positive as it's something different and with the blastocyst the eggs seem to be more mature. So fingers crossed this one works!
I'm not doing too bad on the Buserelin - stomach is becoming a bit sore. Just had my period so the hot flushes have started. I'm due my 1st scan on monday to make sure everything is going to plan!
I'm from Hull too. So we are at the same clinic! How weird is that?
We had a cycle with them in march / april, where we only transferred one. They always seem really nice. This is our last funded cycle. I am in for my scan on wednesday. Sounds like we could be in a the same time!
Very weird - didn't expect to hear from anyone from Hull on here! This is the first time I've been on any message forums, it is nice to hear about other peoples stories and situations - makes you feel like you aren't they only one doesn't it!
I am due to have my scan on Monday. Then due to start my sitmulation injections on 26th!
This will be our first time to have just 1 egg transferred! We've had 2 funded cycles, and a frozen cycle.
Good luck, and no doubt we'll probably be in the unit roundabout the same time!
x
I know what you mean about not feeling like the only one. I don't personally know anyone else in our situation.
I am due to start stims on the 24th straight after the scan! I have started getting hot flushes now so am just starting to feel the effects. I'm going to get a month parking ticket on wednesday as well 'cos they said that this time I will have scans every two days after the 29th.
I may even see you there without knowing.
Good luck tomorrow, I hope everything is on schedule.
My scan appt went well. I'm down reg as I should be. Start my stim injections on Friday and then due another scan the following Friday. Now it's time for it to interrupt my husbands schedule as he does the leg injections! I do my own stomach ones but there's no way I can do the leg ones - too painful!
I've got a friend who's trying to conceive but hasn't started any sort of fertlity treatment so it is nice to catch up with her - especially as a lot of our close friends are pregnant and haven't struggled to conceive! Just me and her catch up a lot and it is nice to talk to someone who knows 100% what it's like to want a baby and it's not happening.
Yeah the car park can add up. Luckily for me I actually work for the NHS so have a parking permit! I finish work on Friday as well. I've tried being at work when going through IVF and especially when I start the stim injections and i just get so stressed, moody, emotional etc.. that it's not fair on who i work with or the poor patients! ha I feel better at home, if i fancy a cry I can.
Thats great news. So pleased you are on track. It's a good idea being off work, hopefully you will be able to relax.
I will be off through the whole 2ww I think but I will have to wait and see.
I try and carry on as normal during the 2ww but knowing that you don't want to risk anything that could affect the transfer! Always at the back of your mind how ever much you try and not think about it! I know some people will tihnk i'm too cautious but the way i look at it is that i've waited nearly 4 years for a baby so i'm not going to risk anything happening!! Plus i'm normally pretty sore after ET and then the transfer so just want to sit and watch daytime tv and let my husband run about after me!
Well I had my baseline scan today and all is as it should be. I will now start stims tonight and go back for the next scan on monday.
Hope you are doing ok Vicky. I know what you mean about the 2ww and last time I did carry on as normal but I think I will be taking time off to relax this time as my job is quite stressful.

I start my stim injections on Friday - hope they aren't as painful as I remember them to be!! Is a nice feeling to know i'm not going to be at work for a few weeks though!
Definitely relax this time round - I know they say to carry on as normal, but it is a bit hard to do when you could potenitally be pregnant! Less stress as possible!
I'm doing ok - getting a few hot flushes on a night in bed! Doesn't help with it getting warmer either!
I started the stims last night and was hoping wouldn't be painful like you. Well, the actual injection disn't hurt but I have a huge bruise now! I had to inject the other leg tonight.
Good luck with yours tomorrow.
