low progestrone level

Hi,
I am 7 weeks pregnant with twins. My doctor called me to tell me that my progestrone level was about 13 and the normal level would be about 20. I take 1cc of PIO shot. She also asked me to increase the level to 1 and half cc everyday. she mentioned that if i had bleeding/cramping I need to call them. Has anyone of you all have similar experiences. I am scared to death. Please let me know if this is something really worrisome. Thank you all. Appreciate your help.

Why doesn't your doctor add another form of progesterone such as the vaginal suppositories? Maybe you just are not absorbing the IM shots very well. I used the vaginal suppositories during my last pregnancy and it really increased my progesterone levels; the shots have to go through so much to be absorbed. Since you have been on the shots, did they check your progesterone level earlier and was it normal then?

Are they going to re-check your progesterone levels anytime soon? If they are increasing your dosage, they need to recheck you to make sure that is an accurate dose.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I will call them tomorrow and ask them about the other forms of progestrone and ask if I can get another blood work done to check levels.

I've always been told that IM progesterone absorption is superior to the vaginal suppositories. My progesterone level was low as well on 1.5 cc, since I have been increased to 2cc and all is well--this is with a singleton. I'm sure with the increase you will see your level go up!

I agree with Sammycat, as my RE told me that you never know how much you are absorbing vaginally. With IVF he only prescribes the shots. I was on 2 cc a day for the first trimester with my pregancy. It worked as my baby boy is now 2 years old.

hey girl we r 4 wks 4 days pregnant my progesterone level starting out was 12 thats with 1cc pio shots then they placed me on suppository daily with shot and it didnt make much diff so he kept messing with my meds and now we doin 2 shots pio daily and one suppository of crinone8% and my level 2day was 26 wow! but yes my bottom is soooo sore from shots 4 sure! lol keep in ouch! abogenpohl
