Twin Mommies

Post by cymplicity27 »

I'm currently 15 wks prego with twins and the past few days have just been miserable! It's so hard to determine what's "normal" with a twin pregnancy and what should worry me. I already have the issue with the shortening cervical length and have to get re-measured on Thursday, but in the meantime I'm freaking out with every ache & pain!

Right now I'm experiencing lower back pain, some pressure in my pelvic area that extends to my rectum (tmi, i know). It's like I have light mentrual cramps 24/7 as well. It's really hard to describe the discomfort but that's the best I can do :) . I'm not in any serious pain. I plan to bring this all up with my OB but most times anything I describe they tell me it's normal.

Anyway, I was interested in hearing how your pregnancies went, how soon you started experiencing any "growing pains" and if what I'm describing sounds familiar. Thanks!

Hi Girls...

Hey there - I can definately attest to the fact that carrying twins is nothing like carrying a single baby. Every ache, pain, pull and uncomfortable feeling is exaggerated ten fold... by 16 weeks I was feeling such pressure that I was scared the babies would fall out at any time. I could never relax and I think that no pregnant woman ever does completely. There is def more pressure, more hearburn, more swelling and more sleepless nights.

If there are any specific questions you would like me to answer feel free to post them...

Well I am a "horror" story of a twin pregnancy I suppose! I started feeling those same pains that you are feeling. Finally, after all my complaining and fearing pre term labor, they sent me to a Peri-natologist. Starting at 20 weeks I felt those pains. I was put on bed rest....then at 25 weeks (I think? Hard to remember exactly when) my cervix started to thin out, dilate, etc. I was in and out of the hospital to stop the contractions and dilating and funneling. I WISH they would have given me a cerclage (sp). More of the pain I felt was pin pricks and just period cramps and they told me that was when I was doing too much and the cervix was acting up (dilating). At first they told me it was normal twin pregnancy stuff but when they did the ultrasounds they noticed I was funneling from early on.

The growing pains on me were like I pulled a muscle in my stomach...lol....it hurt to move! I know this is different for everyone.

If you start to contract go see the doctor. Your whole belly gets tight or just part of it. For me, I had half the stomach go tight during a contraction....everyone is different.

My water broke at 31 weeks and I delivered then. Thankfully the girls are fine but I had a HARD pregnancy with a lot of drama! If you have any ? you can PM me....I will try to check this thread from now on as well to try to help you out!
Me: 25 PCOS, BFP 1st time with twin girls!
