Ghost or anybody....Help

Post by hopinginpa »

I am 6w today and went for an U/S today. The doctor was able to see a gestational sac but unsure if he saw yolk sac. I did see a flutter and he stated that there was cardiac activity. He seemed worried that we didn't hear the HB. He did another beta today and it went from 1456 last Friday which was 21DPO and today 28 DPO my beta was 11450. Should I be worried?

hoping... I am no expert but I personally would think that seeing the heartbeat at 6 weeks is great! Alot of people don't get that yet. I'm not sure why he was so disappointed not to hear it but according to the betas they are doubling very well. I would say don't worry too much and just hang in there.

PS where in PA are you? I am in PA too!!

Acornmom-thanks for the reply. I am trying not to worry about it and see what will happen next week. I used to live in Philly but just moved to NC. Where in PA are you? I did my ER/ET up there but am doing the bw and U/S here. That is frustrating as well. Congrats on twins!

Six weeks is about the time heartbeats start to appear.

Your hCG sounds fine to me. At about this time many/most clinics stop monitoring it, and just do the ultrasounds.

No, you should not be worried. Let the doctor do any worrying. From your post, it's not even clear that he should be worried, either. It's a bit confusing, heartbeat but no yolk, saw the heartbeat but did not hear it...

Don't worry about it. The next one will be more definitive.

I am closer to Hbg. Glad to hear from ghost (as always!)... I looked at your betas and they are great! So like ghost said (and has before) let the doctors worry. Enjoy the little one in there!

Ghost-Thank you for your reply. I am trying not to worry.
I have my ER/ET in PA and monitoring in NC. The report that the doctor here sent to my doctor in PA confused them!
He wasn't sure if it was the HB. He states it was cardiac activity but told me it could be my own pulse. He thought he saw yolk sac but when he zoomed in, he said it could be abnormal.
He did state though that is beta looked good, that it would probably be OK.

Well had my U/S today and saw and heard hb. HB was 118. The doctor was concerned that the gestational sac looked abnormal in shape, it wasn't as round as it should be. I am measuring 6w 1d and I am 6w5d today. Should I be worried?

Congratulations on your good news. I don't know the importance of the shape, but the heartbeat is a very good sign. The rate is fine for this point, and should increase by the next one.

Your maternal instinct is to worry about your children. You will do this until your last breath. Right now, just relax and enjoy the ride. Even if there was a problem, worry won't help and the stress might even make things worse.

Let the doctor do the worrying.

You can focus on what color you want DH to paint the nursery (avoid paint fumes yourself).

hoping - CONGRATS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!! Glad you got to see the heartbeat. I am also on another IVF board and a lady on that board had the same issue of an abnormal sac. She did another u/s a couple of weeks later and everything was OK. She is currently 10 or 11 weeks PG. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
