hey there october moms!

How is everyone? Where is everyone? Busy, busy getting the nursery set up? Hope all are doing well.
Just bumping us up before we fall off the first page!!

We had our anatomy scan last night and all is looking good. The baby is measuring on track length and weight-wise. Next week I go for a detailed organ u/s, which they do at the hospital and get to take the dreaded glucose test. I've read that stuff tastes terrible!

Our doctor chose the date of October 15th for my c-section, which just happens to be the 10 year anniversary of when DH and I met. My doctor said it was meant to be and that I wasn't allowed to have any complications from here on out! Knock on wood!!

Barb - been thinking about you and your babies. Are you on bed rest now? Hope you all are doing well.

Siouxsie & Molly, joannet & shelley and the rest of the October moms- how are you all? Everything still going smoothly?

Take good care and have a nice weekend!

Hi Summer,

The glucose is gross, but its over quickly. Glad to hear everything’s going well and you’re feeling chipper.

Just wondering, if you’re choosing a c-section or if the dr. recommends it for you?

Everything’s going well with us. My next appt. is 7/2. It feels like its been a long time, but it’s easier since I’m not as worried as I was in the beginning. We’re still pondering names and my Mom is busy planning a shower, which I’m dreading a bit since I hate being the center of attention.

We’re in the process of fining a new place to live with room for baby so it’s been a bit stressful, but we’re trying to stay optimistic.

Hi Siouxsie,

I know what you mean about feeling a bit uncomfortable being the center of attention, I am the same way. I'm sure in the end you will enjoy your day and being around all your friends and family in celebration!

Like for you, the time is really going by, sometimes too quickly! I'm also not as worried, especially since being able to feel the baby moving. It is very reassuring.

I've known from the beginning that I'd have to have a c-section if I ever got pregnant. About 4 years ago I had fibroid surgery and the scarring that resulted would make it too stressful to have natural childbirth. Not only that, but I also still have a fibroid that could make trouble, but so far, everything is looking good.

Good luck with your new home search! Hope you find something soon and can settle in before October rolls around!

Hi to all the October moms!
Have a great week,

Summer

Thanks for sharing. Hope it wasn't too nosy, I was just curious. I know several women who ended up with emergency c-sections despite their best laid plans, so at least you have the advantage of knowing ahead. And its great that the birth will land on a significant day for you. I am a little in denial about he birthing experience, but soon I suppose I will need to start planning. DH and I watched a National Geographic about fetal development (called In the Womb) which culminated in a birth. DH was shocked. I need to toughen him up before the big day.

I have my next appt. in the morning, so hopefully we'll have another positive report.

Hi Siouxsie,

I like that idea that you are working to toughen up DH for the big event in a matter of weeks!....okay, months...Will you take a tour of the hospital where you will deliver? We are doing that later this month. I think it will be good to see where you'll be and find out how things work...

How's the house hunting going?

I had the organ/anatomy scan today and all is well. Such a relief! The doctor who did it, explained everything as he was looking at it. I had to remember to tell him that I didn't want to find out the gender...really, I did want to know, but DH so wants it to be a surprise!
Tomorrow is the glucose test. When I went last week to have my thyroid checked, which was fine, but he discovered that my iron is low - so I have to take pills for that...Before IVF, I hardly ever took a pill for anything -- and now they just don't stop!

I would also rather know going in that a c-section is what I'll need and not have to be in the middle of things and have to have an emergency c-section. It has been such a long journey to get this far, I just want what is best for the baby, and didn't give it a second thought when they told me.

Enjoy your appointment tomorrow. Hopefully, you'll get to see your little girl on the big screen! Did you guys decide on a name, or will you wait till you meet her to make the final choice?

When is your baby shower going to be? Here, they do something called a "baby showing" after you are home from the hospital and everyone comes over to meet the baby.

Hi to all the October moms. Hope all is going well!

Summer
Today’s appointment went well. The baby is too big to fit on the u/s at once. The dr. said everything is so normal, it’s boring.

We have a hospital tour scheduled for August. The hospital just opened in April so it’ll be nice and new. I think all maternity rooms are private so that’s a treat. I asked the dr. today if I should sign up for Lamaze or any classes. She basically said, either way is fine, but it’s best not to practice too much. I do have to think about drugs vs. drug-free. She was also funny, because she said not to do a birth plan. She claims that women who do plans usually end up with an emergency c-section.

I can relate to your pill-popping. I am the same way, but I’ve definitely been willing to pop anything to make this happen. At least in this stage, there’s far less needles.

The house hunting is stressful. We happen to live in city with an inflated market. It’s less than it’s been in years, but it’s still unbelievable. The small reductions are also making it highly competitive. We’re seeing 2 more this afternoon, so maybe one of them will be it. We have the crib so I’m eager to get everything settles and set in time.

We have a running list of names, but we probably won’t truly decide until we actually meet her. At the moment our strongest contenders are Darby or Sylvia. But, then there’s Lorna? Lita? Ivy? How about you? It must be harder thinking up ones for both genders.

The shower will be 8/22. My Mom lives across the country so she’s flying in. I love the idea of a baby showing. It sounds so much nicer to give all the attention to the little one.

Hope you glucose went well.

Hi to the rest of you, quiet ladies. I hope no news is good news for all of you.

Hi October Mom,

Sorry that I have been MIA but with all the testing and light activity it has been hard. Also since I am not working we did not have internet for a while. We had to choose between internet or food:) I picked food, since it seems that eating is all I do. I have gained about 25-30 pds and my belly looks like I am ready to go into labor any minute but unfortunately I still have a little bit to go. The Doctor tells us it could be anywhere from 28-33 weeks. I am hoping anytime after 30 weeks since I won't be able to carry past 33 since I am not going to have room in there for them.

I am feeling them move but if they move all together at the same time, holy mother it is painful. I don't know if I told you guys that we are having a boy and two girls. So far the name for the boy is Jullian and the girls are Elizabeth and Sophia or Sophie.

I read through your posting and I am glad to hear all is good with each pregnancy. I will try to keep you posted about the next couple of weeks as they are crucial to how far I carry the babies.

Have a great day,

Barb

Hi Barb,

Great to hear from you. I totally understand your situation. Although we are only expecting two little ones later this year, we never planned for this and so everything these days is a re adjustment on our original plan.....

I am very glad to hear that you and the little ones are doing great....hang in there, it will all be worth it soon. The names you've picked out are great.

Well our little two are growing quite well.....or I should say that I am....heeehee I've gained about 15 lbs so far, but my stomach is really really big.....

We haven't decided on names yet, we are still testing out the sound of the ones we like....

Hi to all the other October moms to be, hope you are all having a great week.

Joannet and BarbD

So glad to hear your both doing so well. I can’t believe it it’s already almost time for you. What a great and amazing bond your children will have after being so close. Both of your weight gains actually sound great – I’m already at 13 lbs or so and I only have a singleton. I guess I will have to be exercising and pushing that stroller like mad.

Wishing you both continued health and smooth sailing.

I know some of you are planning c-sections, based on medical advice or to handle multiple births. For those of you, not on that train, I was wondering your thoughts so far on your birth planning. i.e. natural vs. epidural vs. narcotics; if natural, Lamaze vs. Bradley vs. ??; planning on a doula or not; any other special considerations?

HI Ladies. I have been MIA lately. Staying busy with the twins. They are keeping me running. I am seeing the Peri every few weeks for a cervix check and growth check. So far so good on my cervix. Yesterday I had the growth check for the baby (still going with surprise for sex). It is already up to 2lb1oz. That is pretty big. At 25 weeks it is usually weighing in at just over a pound. So it has gained well over a pound in the last month based on my last growth check. Also I gained 8 pounds this month. THat really sucks. I had only gained like 6 total before this month. I am hoping this isnt gestational diabetes...ugg. I have that checked ina couple of weeks.

As for delivery I am hoping for a VBAC. I found the recovery from Csec miserably painful and I really don't want to do that again. But in order to have VBac I will have to go into labor on my own before my due date (no inductions) and have normal sized baby. At this rate my little one might be 15 pounds...lol

Hope everyone else is doing well. Anyone had dr appt lately?

Hi October moms!
So nice to hear from each of you!

Barb - so glad to know that despite your very stressful beginning, that your babies are doing so well. Sounds like you've been doing everything just right. I'm thinking of you and hoping they stay put for as long as possible. I really like your names, too!

Joannet - Happy to hear your babies are also doing well. We have also been spending time lately getting the nursery ready and doing lots of spring cleaning, as I have no idea when I'll have so much time in the future...

twinmom - how old are your twins? Good luck with your upcoming glucose test! Some of my levels ended up being slightly above normal on my test, and I now have to monitor my blood sugar 6x/day for the next week and see how I do. So far, (knock on wood!) the levels have been completely normal.
We are also letting the gender be a surprise, glad to know I'm not the only one!

siouxsie - how are you doing? Did you guys find a new place? I am also anxious to finally get the room we are using for the nursery cleared out, so we can start setting things up that we've bought. I don't think your weight gain sounds out of the ordinary. I think a lot of it depends on where you started and your size. I'm sure your doctor would say something if they were concerned. I've gained about 8, but already started out almost 10 lbs over where I should be...
I must say, I really like all your names! We have one picked out if it is a boy, but are still testing out different ones for girls. They have to be names that work in both German and English, which isn't always easy.

Aside from the glucose test not going as well as I had hoped and having low iron levels, all seems fine with the baby, measuring and weighing in right on track, and pretty active. My doctor recently asked if I was finally starting to enjoy being pregnant and I told her, yes and that we've started buying a few things -- to which she said, No, not yet! -- Wait till after the 25th week, then we'll know the chances are even higher that the baby will be fine...Talk about putting a serious damper on my cheerful mood that day!! I've put it behind me now and am back to being positive. Just surprised she would say something like that, as realistic as it might be.

well ladies some not good news over here for me.......they have decided to put me on bedrest. My cervix went from measuring a 5.9 to a 2.8 in less than a week. Babies are growing good but they want to make sure we can hold out for atleast 30+ weeks. I will have my hubby post any news as it come.

Have a healthy and safe pregnancy to you all.
