first IVF attempt failed

Post by SwedenIVF »

Hi I posted on another forum page, maybe the wrong one. I am 40, have had two ectopic pregnancies, both tubes removed. Just finished first IVF cycle. Big fat nothing. Feeling very down and useless, numb, sad.

SwedenIVF,
Sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancies and failed ivf. It is tough and frustrating to get a BFN especially after all we have been thro. Try not to give up hope, its a long road but we will get there. I have had 4 failed ivf then a m/c at 9 wks on my 5th attempt in April 09 - there is light at the end of the tunnel you just cant see it yet cause its around a bend and someday it will surprise you when you least expect. Keep the faith, take time to recover and lots of tlc and jump back on board, i am about to start my 6th attempt they will have to drag me away kicking and screaming before i give up ivf - its our only chance of conceving and we plan to keep going.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. My husband and I have been taking turns at crying it seems. I guess the best thing is to grieve and then keep going.
These forums help a lot.

Hi there,

I am on my second attempt as we speak. I spent about 3 years feeling a bit overwhelmed by my first attempt's BFN. I was orignially told I was pregnant while on vacation in North Pole, Alaska and started prenatal right away. I figured, "this is is" it worked and here we go! 2 weeks later I was spotting and that is when they confirmed my chemical preg. It can be shocking because I think deep down we all expect it to work! After all, it is science and medicine and shouldn't they work everytime?

The key, I am realizing now, is maintain a positive attitude and find joy in every little thing in your life. Corny? maybe, but it can't hurt right?

Also, new studies show that chiropractic care the 2 weeks before and after a transfer can improve chance of a positive test. I am trying it and will post my results after my transfer on the 23rd.

Best of wishes to you!
