what's a bt? I'm assuming 'blood test.' how come you're having that?
I've just come to the end of our 2nd IVF treatment cycle and sadly it hasn't worked. It feels rough to say the least. I think we've coped over the years by planning nice things to do whenever we've had bad news. I have to have something to look forward to no matter what!!
The hardest thing I find is getting your head sorted after lots of disappointment and then hey presto you go through it all again - we must be crazy.
I think it really helps having someone to talk to who knows what IVF involves as I find most people do not have a clue how complicated it is; how long it goes on for and why it's so tough. I only know one other person who has gone through IVF and she is the only one who ever has anything helpful to say!

Totally agree with you Gee - no-one understand 100% unless they've gone through IVF themselves. My mum reads/watches/listens to anything to do with IVF so she's the only one who kind of knows (although hasn't gone through it herself). She usually comes to my scan appts and is always there when I need a cry. but this website has definitely helped knowing that its not just me and my husband going through it. We've only told DH's mum and dad we're going through treatment although haven't given them any updates - his family think it only takes a week! So we'll just tell them when we know the final result! I've only told my closest friends as well.
None of my friends have gone through IVF or struggled to conceive - all happened within a month of trying (grrrrrrr)!! So they obviously have no idea what it's like to want something so bad and have to wait and go through years of trying, however much they try and be supportive I think you really need to speak to someone who has been through it or going through it.
Me and my husband have always had a holiday after a failed cycle. This is our 4th cycle and I'm keeping everything crossed it works, even more so as we've had to pay for it and won't have any spare cash for a holiday!
I didn't think I'd be able to go through a 2nd, 3rd or this cycle, but I am. Don't give up hope x

Gee - When this all first started I really thought we were on our own in this. I knew of a couple of people who had been through it but no one I could talk to and both of whom worked first time. I realised just how many people there are at the welcome evening and then reading the internet. It has been invaluable to me to know we are not alone and be able to talk to people. My DH family have been fantastic but I can not tell my mum this time as she gets too emotional for me to deal with.
Anyway, we are very strong to go through this and I am always cautiously optimistic that it will be our time this time.
I am nervous about tomorrow, hoping we have survivors..

We'll be freezing some this time if we can - seems a waste to throw away good quality eggs (if there is any!). I think we'd prefer 2 eggs being transferred but we'll go with whatever the unit suggests really.

good luck tomorrow Vicky and Ange - sending you lots of strength and calm for the next couple of weeks.
I've spent a lovely day chilling out in my garden and managed to book a holiday to look forward to - it all helps. I avoided talking to anyone apart from my DH, I just can't bring myself to talk to my mum or sisters yet as I don't know where to start or what to say. Rubbish eh?
I've aranged for a few days off work although part of me wants to try to get back to 'normal' asap. Will just see how the next few days go. My stomach cramps have been better today thank god.

Thanks Gee. It was great news from the unit. We got 17 eggs - 7 for IVF and 10 for ICSI. All 7 IVF eggs fertilised and 8 ICSI eggs were mature and injected. 7 fertlised and now only 3 are looking good grades. However, the 7 IVF eggs are all doing very well and 5 are grade 3 and above! So we are VERY happy with the results of the IVF eggs. We've always had ISCI.
Even better news was that DH's sperm count has increased from 2.8million to 46.8million!!
Also every aspect of the sperm is well above normal and the embryologist said with DH's sperm now we could conceive naturally!!
They are hoping to achieve blastocyst with the eggs and ET is probably going to be Wednesday! Then the dreaded 2ww!! Also we're hoping to be able to freeze some eggs as wel.

excellent news, glad it's gone so well.
Since Friday we've booked one holiday to the south of france for September - yeah. Also, yesterday I found some cheap flights for Morocco in February next year so I've booked them too!! DH is now nervous everytime I switch the computer on...He'd better be!!
I still can't decide what to do about going back to work. A lovely colleague of mine leaves work on Weds to go on maternity leave and there's a baby shower planned for her that afternoon. I don't think i could bear it plus I think it'll make her feel really awkward. I doubt very much I'll go back on Weds with all that going on. It's wierd, when you've had bit of time off it feels like you've been off for ages and ages. I always worry about having sick time but once you've gone back to work you're expected to get on with aren't you?
I am lucky, the girls I work with are lovely and have been very patient and understanding so far.
I'm still quite tearful and feeling a bit down so better off in my own company!

Gee, I would stay well away from all the baby stuff til you feel a bit stronger if you can. Although sometimes getting on with things helps as well.

Well 1 grade 3 blastocyst was transferred today! YEAH! 10 Blastocyst embies for freezing (nice price as well!!). The nurse and embryoloist seemed very positive and pleased with the results of the eggs! I know they'll be like that with everyone but it's still nice that they reassure you things look good!
Test day is 29th July! Arrrgghhhhhhhh it's a day before my friend's little girl's 1st b'day and the Saturday after its her b'day party where they'll be at least 5 pregnant ladies there! I know I shouldn't be negative this early but I've said to DH I'm gonna have to see how I feel and go from there - hopefully my friend will understand if I don't go!
But enought negative thoughts - PMA it WILL WORK and I will be pregnant so I'll be bursting to tell everyone but I think I'll be waiting until my 1st scan!!

I went back to work today - it was kind of an easy way to go back as I had to go to a meeting off site with a couple of girls who I work closely with. So, I got the first bit over and done with in terms of facing colleagues! I know if I stay off any longer it won't do me any good as I'll just mope about at home.
What a crazy few months.

Hi Gee,
I'll be taking the next few days easy as apparently that's when the blastocyst egg will hatched and attach itself! I'm going to have a walk to our local shops tomorrow mainly because I need a wedding anniversary card for DH! Oops haven't got him one yet! We was going to go out for a meal but our car is in garage and I said I'd rather stop in with a takeaway and chill out. We can double celebrate soon with anniversary and BFP result!
I'm currently off work. The woman I work with has finally realised what a stressful process IVF is and she's now really understanding! Luckily my employers are understanding and we have good sick leave entitlement!
Glad to hear your first day back at work went well. Just keep thinking of your holiday as well
