First IVF cycle July/August

Post by Faith9455 »

Hi Everyone,

After reading these boards a ton, I've decided to join. My husband and I have been trying since January and are excited to up our chances through IVF. I have PCOS and DH has MF post vas reversal. We've both been on Clomid since Feb. We did an IUI last month. I had 3 good follies, and he had .1 TMS on the first IUI and 8.5 TMS the second day. after being accepted into a PCOS/IVF study we've decided to go for it. I started my BC pills July 9th and will being starting Lupron on the 27th followed by Menopur. I was luckly enough to get assigned the projesterone suppositories vs injectable.I was really not looking forward to an extra two weeks of shots. My main concern right now is side effects. Clomid gave me seriose hot flashes. At least this round we're looking to a higher chance of success than last month. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hi Ladies!

Finally, some good news today! The coordinator called me today and said after expressing my concerns and impatience to RE, he agreed to let me try for august! I am so glad I called yesterday, or I probably would have gotten a call in a couple weeks with a september protocol. I guess the issue is that RE wanted me on bcp's for longer than normal because last time I developed a cyst causing e2 to rise and had to cancel the FET. He says I run the same risk again, but is hopeful it won;t happen, and as long as I understand if it does happen I could be pushed out as far as october for next time since then he will definitely keep me on bcp's for a loooong time. I am willing to take the risk b/c I am soooo tired of waiting. So I ordered lupron, I start it on on July 22, and my supression check will be on July 30. If I am supressed, FET will be around Aug 20. Please pray that I supress proper this time.

The only downfall to all this is that if it does work out as planned, my FET will be 3 days before Ella's big bday bash! I have quite a bit of family drama going on (continuing from the wedding over to ella's b-day, since there are people not speaking to each other who all want to be involved). I guess if I am supressed, I plan on having dh take off from work from FET day until after the party, so he can do all the set up and work, and I can try to stay stress free. I plan on squashing all the drama as soon as I get the all clear, I am going to be selfish for once in my life and put myself first. This is too important and expensive, and I think stress last time caused my bfn...so even if I need to be a bee-otch, it is what it is! I am also going to look into massages and acupuncture to help de-stress, I have never done either before, but I am serious about taking care of me this time! I don't know if I can handle another bfn.

Faith, Pammie, LW, Sunny- welcome to all the newbies! So nice of all of you to join us! This is such a wonderful place to get much needed support from people who understand what you are going through. If you would like to be added to our list, please just let me know and pass along you dates and info, and I will add you next chance I get.

tammy- have fun doin the "baby dance." Since you already ovulated, will RE try to plan a future IUI if the old fashion way doesn't work?

gi- thanks for your comments, ella does need a playmate, and I should have been 6 months pregnant by now, but as we all know, IVF never goes to plan, and with my BFN and delays, I am way behind on getting ella a play mate!

stats- sorry about the door slamming, but sounds like a typical teenager. I guess it was a good thing you waited, and who knows, even though I am planning for august, I am fully aware, I can keep getting delayed. At this point, I just live by my motto of hope for the best but expect the worst.

katie- yay for baby aspirin! You are on your way!

Ok all, sorry I missed people, but honestly, I am still wiped out from the wedding weekend, and the family drama is emotionally draining me, so I have been in quite a slump and unable to keep up the way I use to, but hopefully I will catch up soon as things are finally getting back on schedule. Talk to you soon!

I guess the only downfall is that my hopeful FET date will be 3 days before Ella's big first birthday bash. So I will be having dh take off from transfer day until after the whole bbq birthday bash, so that he can do most of everything and I can try and be stress free. There is also a lot of family drama going on right now and the birthday party may bring some more out (family members who are not talking to each other, but all want to be part of the big day). If I get the all clear, I do plan on squahing all the drama weeks before my transfer even if it means being a bee-otch! I think it's time to put myself first for once, this is too expensive and stressful enough to deal with anything else. I think I am going to look into massages and acupuncture leading up to it too, just to de-stress.

If people try to bring the drama to your daughter's birthday party just remind them it's a stress free environment and if they don't like it than the door isn't too far away! You're right that you've got to put this up front and also, your little one doesn't need that at her party!

I think all the "grow follies grow" wishes are working! I feel like someone shoved a couple of baseballs in there. It hurts to walk, too much pressure!!

Its friday

dogzrule 8 embies is great!!! Do they keep you informed daily on how they are doing?

CT_Michelle: you must be relieved you can cycle in Aug. fingers crossed no cysts this time. You relax as much as possible during FET and let dh do all the work, you just sit back and enjoy Ellas 1st Birthday, forget about the family rows its you, dh and ellas time to celebrate.

lw918: wow sounds like lots of follies cooking in there!! I understand what you are saying about having lots of snowbabies left over but ivf is so unpredictible and most of the time it takes more than 1 attempt so having snowbabies will reduce the cost. We were told that if we got pregnant and had snowbabies left over and if we really didnt want to get pregnant again but also didnt want to destroy the left over embryos they could do a natural transfer but not during ovualtion so the chances of us conceiving would be very slim. That was never an option for us as we rarely have any left to freeze its a miracle we have some this time.

Pammie: welcome theres lots of support here, my clinic does allow the odd glass of wine during cycle i try to stay away but i will admit around 8 days after transfer last cycle i was convinced it didnt work so had a glass so i was shocked when i got a bfp - and no i didnt feel guilty as i knew it would have done no harm.

faith9455 hi, i always use progesterone suppositories a little tip - maybe TMI - but after using them if you can lie down for about 20 min you get practically no leakage!!

Sunnygirl27 - love the PMA!!! how did the 1st stim go last night, before you know it you will be a pro :D

teachertam: sorry to hear you are not doing iui but i will join dogzrule in "old fashioned way dance"

Kayce; how are you doing? When is beta? Fingers crossed you will get your BFP xxx

hi to all i have missed

delayed

Post by miyaya »

Hi girls. Just wanted to pop in. Looks like my IVf cycle will be delayed. I had my HSG yesterday and they found a few small polyps. I assume they will want them removed. Does anyone know how long you have to wait to try again after they are removed?

Ladies: Thanks for doing the "old fashioned way" dance for me.

CT_Michelle: I think DH are done actively trying to conceive after this cycle. We are on the waiting list to adopt from China. DH keeps telling me that the $$ we keep throwing at infertility could be saved for the adoption. I'm guessing that we may get our adoption referral early next year, but time will tell. We have already been waiting 3 years.

Good luck ladies!!

Hi ladies -

Happy friday - finally! I hope you all are doing great, I get to spend yet another day waiting for the ups man to bring meds. This has gotten to be way too familiar to be fun anymore. Why is it that as soon as you know you cant leave the house it becomes the only thing you want to do ?

Michele - :D I am sooo happy for you to try in aug.! When I read your post yesterday I didnt think that your RE would change his mind. YAY!! Now we all just have to pray that your E2 doesnt increase too much!I'm not sure what that dance is called, anyone? I think that you HAVE to put yourself first this time, I totally get that because I also have the same tendency of putting other people ahead of myself. As for Ella's b-day its really something when the adults act more child-like than the babies! I think that if they cause any drama someone can show them the door. Its your DD's day, and you will always remember her 1st b- day! No drama allowed!

Stats -I think that you did the right thing by waiting, When do they go home anyway?

Dogz - any news on the embies?

Pammy & Faith - Welcome!

Tammy - Well the old fashioned way is more fun anyway!

Lw918 - Yes towards the end you just start moving very sloooowly!!

Gi - Are we still doing the AF dance for you?

miyaya - Sorry for your delay

Cheekyone - YAY 14 EGGIES!! Cant wait to hear the fert report!

Babies - Good Luck with ER!!

LOADS OF PMA to all!!!

cheekyone - my cycle sister, you got the same # of eggs!!! Can't wait for your fert report! Doing the embie dance for you!

teachertam - I just wanted to share that my best friend and her DH did international adoption (from Russia ) after 2 failed ivf cycles, and she will tell you it was the best thing they ever did. 3 years is such a long wait though. I didn't realize it was so backed up in China! BUT we are praying for a successful old fashioned cycle for you! :D

miyaya - I'm not sure how it works with polyps. When will you get more info from your doctor about what he/she wants to do from here?

gi - I'm not sure if they keep me informed every day or not. I believe she said I would be getting a call tomorrow though, to tell me what time my ET is on Monday. I'll call myself if I don't hear anything by late morning tomorrow. :D

KayCe - are you surviving the 2ww?

lw - GROW FOLLIES MORE GROW!!!! Give us an update on how you're doing!

Faith - SO glad you are joining us and will be doing all kinds of dances for you and a successful cycle!

Hey ladies. Well things are progressing well so most prob i will trigger tomorrow and have ER on Monday. Almost there! I feel like a bloated pin cushion!

Cheeky - congrats. Wow 14 eggies! That is awesome. Can't wait to here the fert report! Grow embies grow! Get lots of rest

Dogzrule - 8 embies is awesome. Good luck on the ET.

Teachertam
- good luck on the old fashion try! Never know what can happen!

miyaya - i had polyps as well at the beginning of this cycle and had a hystersocopy done to remove them. i did this while on BCPs so nothing got delayed. Luckily they found it early on. Good luck with it. The procedure is simple enough and u are out of it so do not feel any pain.

gi - good luck with trying it out! like i said earlier miracles do happen.

katie99 - didn't u just get a boatload of meds! i needed some to tie me over till tomorrow so my nurse gave some menopur and told me to bring it back if i don't use it. I can't believe i went thru all those meds that i got and had to order more.

CT - so glad that all your complaints finally paid off and they moved u back to the August cycle. Good luck and seriously we are all entitled to be a b***h at times. after all that we are going thru! Be selfish as much as u want. u are so entitled to it! Good luck with planning Ella's b'day. Hopefully she will have a sibling soon enough!

Just on a side note - did u guys see Good Morning America this morning. They had a story about a couple that had quads and it was close to a miracle. check it out if u can..gives all of us hope - http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=8100282&page=1

Hey everyone,

Babiesgalore- I read that article, and what an amazing, heartwarming story! I can not believe they both got pregnant with twins! Wow, really gives us all hope, thank you for sharing. Good luck for you upcoming ER.

dogz- fert report yet?

gi- hehe, when the boss is away, you play!

katie99- ha, a new dance...the "Low e2" dance, I will have to find an image for that one! Hope the ups man came on time.

cheeky- yay for 14 eggs! I can't wait to hear the fert report.

tammy- I hope you hear news on your adoption soon, I will be praying for you and dh...I didn't realize an adoption would take that long.

miyaya- I had a polyp and got delayed. It was removed surgically, and basically delayed me one cycle (a month, my clinic does ivf's all at the same time, basically every 3-4 weeks). So I was supposed to in March, they found the polyp and I had it removed, and I ended up cycling late april. I hope they get it all sorted out...trust me, if anyone can sympathize with delays...it is me, and I know how much it sucks!

Ugh, I feel like crap today. Sore throat, ears hurt, post nasal drip, headache, stomach not feeling so good. I had a lot planned today and I cancelled it all so I can just stay in my air conditioned living room. Of course, today is dh's first day back to work after the vacation from the wedding. He works a double shift today, so he left at 9am and I won't see him until after 9pm, so just sick me taking care of a very active baby today. I hope she doesn't catch what I am getting. I am sure I will catch up with you all again later, since I plan on staying home and doing nothing all day.

Well, this morning I caved in and POAS. I got a super faint pink line that could only be seen under bright light. So I told DH we should wait until beta on monday. But I couldn't go thru the day without thinking about it for me it was the light reflecting the other line but DH was sure it was a +. So, I bought the first response that shows YES or NO. And POAS later this morning forgot about it went to buy a coffee(decaf) and when I came back there was a YES. Is this possible? I mean I've never seen a + on HPT so not sure what to think?? Is it too early? I think is 11dpo and 8dpt. Not sure if I should be happy??

This has been the worst 2ww of all!!! I've been crying, sad I have NO time for myself or to be pampered, I didn't tell anyone about this round so it's just crazy!!!
