Trying IVF again Aug 09 - after months of Acupuncture

Post by ikiban »

Wow, it seems like forever since I've been on here. I hope the ladies who were on my previous post all have their little bun in the oven!

Since my first attempt at IVF was cancelled, I have been doing acupuncture to get my body in better shape. Hoping that all the treatments and weeks of drinking raw herbs will help with my second attempt...which I hope will be August.

For the ladies who have been wondering about acupuncture, I can tell you that it seems to have helped me tremendously - especially in getting my period regulated and shortened from 31 - 35 day down to 29 days for the past 2 months. My acupuncturist over the past couple of months has worked on increasing the quality of eggs produced, getting better blood flow to the uterus, worked on the lining and reduce cramps, breast soreness, headaches (I feel nothing this week, not even the usual awful migraine days before my AF), depression and mood swings.

I am expecting to get my period tomorrow so will be doing b/w to check my hormone levels on CD 3. If the results are in my favour, I will continue acupuncture once a week during my IVF treatment and until ET. I feel a lot more balanced and ready now. Lets hope my blocked RT will not interfer with treatment and I will grow plenty of great quality follicles!
Me - 34 (blocked tubes)
Hubby - 33 (no issues)

Best of luck to you!!

I went through several months of acupuncture before our last attempt and it was a success. I'm a believer.

Thank you the words of encouragement Sammycat. My doctor had recommended that I do TCM before trying IVF again. So glad that it worked for you!

I am a firm believer in acupuncture. For two months prior to my first IVF cycle, I had two acupuncture treatments a week. I could tell a big difference in my body. Also, while taking the injections, I did not get sick like I had before.

I am now trying for #2. I started my acupuncture treatments in June and I am currently on BC. I should stop BC this Thursday and as soon as AF arrives, I will begin the other meds.

I wish you guys the best of luck in August.

Hi tryn4#2,
This is my third time doing IVF after taking months off as well, dropping about 20 pounds, and getting regular acupuncture treatments. I LOVE acupuncture and have really felt much calmer about going through IVF this time around. I had my embryo transfer on July 31st and we ended up transferring 5 grade A, 8 cell embryos! My acupuncturist went with us and treated me immediately before and after the transfer. It was AWESOME and I highly recommend you do the same. Ask your IVF doc about it and it's really no big deal, at least not here in LA. Not sure where you're located. Good luck!
