Wanted to get a few results from those that have used Assisted Hatching. My clinic has automatically added it into the price of my FET, but after doing a little bit of research, I'm not sure if we need it. I've read that there's no actual fact that it increases chances of embyro implanting, and that there was possible connection of deformations. What are your thoughts??

My clinic has never performed assisted hatching and we do much better than the national average with frozen embryos.

Hi,
I was curious I notice your user name is tryinginsac, do you go to Northern California Fertility? That's where I've gone for all my ivf. They also include it all into the FET. I guess it helps the lil' embie crack out of it's shell, but you would think it would do that naturally anyways. I hope you have good luck

We're a mystery :(
I have had assisted hatching due to using PGD. There is a slight risk of damaging the embryo when doing the assisted hatching.
In my case that didn't happen. I have two perfectly normal and healthy 3 month olds.
There is nothing about PGD that invokes any increased need for assisted hatching (and there is no established need for AH in any case). In fact, given the large hole they need to make to extract the cell(s) for PGD, it makes assisted hatching superfluous. I hope they did not charge you separately for both procedures.

Ah, that makes perfect sense.

We used assisted hatching on our attempts that resulted in implantation.
My wife is close to 40, and evidently one of the issues with older women is that the eggs can develop thicker shells, making hatching more difficult. We therefore decided - on our own, not at our clinic's suggestion - to use assisted hatching.
We don't know for sure that it helped, but we do have one perfect daughter now, and another pregnancy that is at 12 weeks and counting.

We started out at Northern but our embyros are in Los Angeles and were frozen using invitification and apparently Northern hasn't upgraded to that freezing process yet. So we're going to go with Sher. Hopefully we will have better luck this time around with them!!!!
So I just heard back from the SIRM clinic & they are saying that I have to have assisted hatching or the embyro won't break out of the shell!!! After going over the responses and doing research, I really feel like their lying to me... Should I really have to pay the extra $1500 or just go to another clinic?? I'm so frustrated right now!!!!!
I would listen to your clinic. They might know something you dont. Maybe your eggs have a thicker shell then normla. I am 23 and they used it on mine... not sure why... but im sure there was a reason lol
