Hi Everyone,
Well, haven't been on here in ages. Finally gave birth to Max James on 11th March 2004, 13 DAYS LATE!!! He weighed 9lb 4oz and is, if we say so ourselves, absolutely gorgeous, with auburn hair!
I was taken in to be induced on 9th March, but it didn't work and 30 hours later I was only 2cm dilated. Thankfully, it was enough to get the old crochet hook out and break my waters! I decided not to be a hero and went for the epidural, which I thoroughly recommend. I didn't lose all feeling from the waste down and was still able to move around on the bed, although to be honest, I couldn't be bothered - just lay there chatting to the midwife for hours! We had a very scary time the mornign he was born, when his heart rate went from 140 to 60 and the next thing we knew, my legs were up in stirrups and I was about to be whisked off for a c-section. Then the little tinker's heart rate returned to normal and calm was restored. I pushed for nearly 2 hours and then ran out of steam so eventually he was delivered by ventouse at 16.06hrs. (and I was cut FRONT TO BACK!!! (VERY BIG OUCH!)) I lost a lot of blood, nearly a litre, and it was really scary for Rob, but then they sorted me out and the next 45 minutes flew by, and the next thing, we were all cleaned up and the family were in having a good old cry.
Feeling very emotional - can't believe he's here. Neither of us are particularly religious, but we just feel so very blessed to have him. Life feels so complete. He's the first grandchild and he's just changed so many lives. Everyone knew we had had treatment and so the cards have come flooding in and people are so happy for us. I feel a very very lucky girl.
LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU ALL - AM GOING TO RELIEVE MAX FROM HIS DAD (ANY EXCUSE FOR A CUDDLE AND A BIG OLD BURP IN MY EAR (FROM MAX, NOT ROB!!!)
