Hello Ladies,

It has been a long time since I was on here. Good to see a few familiar faces - Yasmina and Tammy. I hope you don't mind if I join you for a few months.

My last two IVF's with DE has been a terrible mess. First donor was cut during retrieval and only got 4 eggs which had to be divided with another couple sharing the cycle. We only had one good egg to put back. Then the last donor only produced 6 eggs and again had to be shared. I think Dr. felt bad because of this and this cycle is on him. Miracle because our insurance only pays for 4 IVFs. We could not have paid the full cost for this, so we both immediately took him up on his offer.

I have just started to read up a little on the rest of the group. I need to go back a little bit to pick up some history.

Tammy, where are you in your cycle?
Yasmina, congrats on your last success - 5 months old now!

Can't wait to get to know the rest of you.

Kim,

It is good to hear from you. Sorry your last two cycles were a mess.
That is great news about your RE giving you a free cycle!!

AFM, my last cycle did not go well either. I did 5 days of femara and then 3 days of gonal-f. I went for an ultrasound on CD11. They found three follies on my right ovary (2 - 15mm, 1 - 12mm). None were on my left
ovary. My progesterone was 2. The RE said that I had already ovulated. Which is very early for me and given that fact that I had just gotten a + ovulation pee stick that morning. With that being said, he canceled my IUI and told us to have intercourse. I'm currently on CD17 and not counting on a BFP at all. What sucks is that this was to be our last cycle. DH is getting tired at just throwing money at infertility. Our insurance pays NOTHING, so everything is out of pocket. An ultrasound is $300!

Take care all,
Tammy

Tammy,

Sorry to hear about this last cycle. Maybe it can still be successful. Hey, Andrew was natural birth. When should you test? I've been doing the IVF so long I really have not kept up with timing. They give you a calendar and you follow it.

Do you ever hear from any of the ladies that were on here in 2007 and 2008?

I really hope this works despite the Dr.'s thoughts. Will you try again?

Kim,

I should be able to test in 10 or 11 days. I'm not very optimistic.

I probably will not try again unless we do an unmonitored Femara
cycle. I have one month left on my prescription. Femara gave me three follies each cycle, but they were not all mature.

I go back and forth on wanting a second child. Sometimes I really long for another child and other times I'm scared to death thinking how I would handle a toddler and an infant. I am also worried about the increased risk of genetic abnormalities due to my age.

Good luck on your next cycle. When will you start your next cycle? Do you have to wait for a donor to be selected?

Regards,
Tammy

Hi Kim and Tammy,

Kim, welcome back. Sorry for your last two DE cycles and wish you will have a good outcome this time. When the RE feels bad, you normally get more of his attention and this should be a good thing.

We are very very lucky to have to ivf children and I truly wish everyone here will eventually get what they want.

Tammy,

Raising two kids is not easy but I am so happy to see our little son's smiling face every day! He smiles ALL THE TIME, to EVERYONE! I was of course very happy too when we had DD but somehow I was always a little sad thinking that she could have been the only child that we would have.

We had frozen embryos which made our decision relatively easier than yours. I can understand your concerns and I hope that you will come to peaces with yourself. My dear friend who chooses not to have any children said to me, "You will probably wish that you didn't have any of them when they are teenagers." I actually already feel the difficulties now with DD. She likes to tell me to "go away"! I have to admit that DS's arrival made me neglected her needs and she is much closer to her daddy than to me. I am patiently waiting for the change of this situation...

Alright, back to work now.

Good luck, everyone.

Hi Kim

We were self funded and had enough money for 3 rounds of IVF. At that time the clinic was going through a major expansion and during our 1st IVF they had a major power surge, which cut the electric supply for up to 3 hours. Although the incubator, where our 1 day old embroyos were growing had a back up supply, nobody at the could guarantee that our 1st failure was not connected to this power outage.

The clinic refunded us in total and gave us the funds required for round number 4 which resulted in our DD.

Miracles can happen, and I hope and pray that the next miracle is yours.

Hi Tammy

We also struggled with the decision whether or not to try for another child. After a lot of long, painful, practical, financial and very emotional soul searching we decided not to go down the sibling path.

All my friends have had 2nd children and DD is the only child without a sibling. We discuss it openly and have been waiting for the questions about a brother or sister but she does not, at the moment, seem bothered.

I still have my 'off days' when I wonder 'what if' but as I get older those days are less and less.

We are truely blessed with an exceptional child who gives us youth and energy and every reason to give her our unconditional love.

I wish you and your DH the very best of luck.

Hi everyone,
I went to the high risk doc yesterday to try and figure out the source of the high amount of amniotic fluid. she couldn't see anything with the baby that would cause it. she said maybe its just idiopathic and unxplained. The number is up to 29 now. She says i have enough fluid for twins. There is only one baby though. I have had tons of ultrasounds and work and at my ob and the high risk doc, so no twins. That is one reason why my belly is so huge. Aslo, this baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces already!! she is gonna be big at this rate with 5 or six more weeks to go. The concern now is the bag breaking because of the excess fluid. I also am having contractions but its not leading to dialation. Glad for that.

Ok do any of you have any advice about how to get the baby to turn. She is breech. I know she has time to turn, but doc says they usually are turned by now. I remember Yasmina went to a chiropractor and he turned hers, but im scared to do that especially with this crazy fluid level. So I will try anything else even if it sounds crazy. lol. I dont want a c-section.

I hope you all are doing well. Good luck with your cycles. Hang in there.

Yasmina and Caroline P: Thanks for the feedback on having a second child. I have felt a little under the weather for the past two days and do not feel like I could deal with an infant and a toddler right now.

Baby............: Good luck on your beta. I too have heard of low betas going on to be successful pregnancies. I think they just want your beta to double in 2-3 days.

Take care all,
Tammy

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Tammy, sounds like you have at least one more try - even if it is without the ultrasounds. Can you track ovulation when stimming? Or do the ovul tests go haywire? I know what you mean about sometimes wondering about a 2nd child. I had been difinite for more children until our last failure last September. Since then I have debated in my mind both sides. RE made the free offer last September, but was forever in getting back with us, so I had many months to debate the subject in my mind. Oh, we wouldn't pass this up, but there are times I get scared and wonder if I can do this (preg & labor) at my age.

Rhonda, my sister put an ironing board from the couch to the floor and laid upside down on this ironing board several times a day and massaged her belly firmly (coaxing him to turn) and he turned 3 days before she went into labor. Hey, I laughed at her because I was pregnant at the same time, but it WORKED.

Caroline, what a miracle!!

Babygurl, that is not a bad beta number. You will be in my prayers for good numbers tomorrow. Sending lots of baby dust your way!!!
