hey ladies wlel I just got the call that my beta was negative...
I dont know where to go. I am thinking about switching REs. I have heard that another one by me has 50% success rates compared to my res 38%....
Also... is it worth trying again? im 23 and we put three back! if it didn't work this time it probably wont work right?

Oh honey, I am so sorry. It never hurts to check out other clinics, especially if they have a wonderful reputation and a higher success rate.

If you are in the Chicago area(?) and you are looking for high success rates, you might try:

Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago

They have a very informative website.

I have no affiliation with them. Some clinics artificially boost their pregnancy rates by accepting only selected patients. I have no idea if that clinic does so.

One failure is not all that much. Most cycles fail. One failure does increase the chance somewhat that the next one will also fail, assuming the protocol is not varied. If the protocol is varied, then who knows?
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Oh, Tiffy,

My heart is breaking for you. I know this whole process has been an emotional roller coaster (one you did not ask to be on). Take some time this week to really take care of yourself and DH emotionally. I am sending you hugs.

As for looking at another RE, it never hurts to have another opinion. I am personally on my 3rd, and think I really found the right fit. I would certainly look at % success because (on a positive note) at your age you should have the highest percentage of healthy eggs and therefore success at this "game". I am still squeezing in on your "under 35" age group by mere weeks but my RE has a 64.8% success for us.

I will have you in my thoughts, Tiffy.

Tiffy,

Don't give up yet! My first two cycles failed and I started in my mid-20's, too. That was with male factor and my RE having "no idea" why it didn't take the first two times. Remember that even for natural conception it's such a chance thing. Unless you are feeling uncomfortable with your current RE and how this cycle was handled, remember that a general statistic for a clinic doesn't mean much for you personally. As somebody else said, there are a lot of ways they can pad those numbers. From what I understand, under ideal circumstances each little one they put back only has a 50% chance of sticking. After only one try there is absolutely NOTHING to say it won't work if you try again.

I understand if you want to take a break for a while to get your head together, and maybe change doctors - I took a long break between each try, it's so emotionally and physically draining. I had to get through thinking maybe it was meant to be, maybe I wouldn't be a good mom anyway... all the other emotional garbage. But I think you should stick with it. It's such a devastating blow, but the hope does start to come back if you give it a chance.

Best of luck!

Tiffy,
Don't give up, it can work next time. Sometime even with having a perfect cycles and perfect embryo's a person might get a BFN then the next cycle have the worst cycle with bad looking embies and get a BFP. All we can do is keep on trying. You are young so you have a lot of things going for you. I would love to have 23 yr old eggs. Take some time off, have fun not worrying about IVF and come back in a month or two. Good Luck!!!

By the way my last name is also Wall.

Iam so sorry to hear your results and my heart goes out to you. It is heartbreaking but this certainly does not mean it will not work. I have been told that staying with the same RE can be good as well because they have learnt a lot about you in your first cycle and can use this knowledge for your next cycle. For my second cycle only the dose of stims was reduced and we got our BFP. Take care, some time to heal and good luck.
