Hi Ladies,
Well, I got the results yesterday. They said everything looks great, but for some reason, I don't start my stims until Saturday. I was mad yesterday, but i'm over it. Nothing I can do, right? In the grand scheme of things, what's a few more days, right?

hopeful- I do try to stay positive, but I think that right now i'm having a moment of weakness. My sister literally just called me to tell me she was pregnant and she also told me that my other sister is trying again too. Both of them already have kids and I have none, so i'm feeling just a little bit of pressure now for this cycle and i'm starting to feel like i'm relying on it too much. I cried for a little while and dh has been away on business, so it's so nice to come on here and see that i'm not alone. I feel like everyone in the world is pregnant. I try so hard to not let it bother me and when I do get news of other people's pregnancies, i'm really happy for them, but then I start to feel anxious and worried about my own situation. Anyway, OMG why did the menopur hurt so much?

mjay- your words really hit me because of my sister's news, so i'm trying to see things that way. I can't expect other people to put their lives on hold and I know that no one is doing anything to hurt me, so I just have to take a deep breath and know that everyone is rooting for me too and can't wait to hear some happy news from me (hopefully soon!). Do you mind if I ask what you're getting your master's in? I'm going t NIU for a master's in counseling. Gosh, from the way it's looking though, I could use some counseling myself!!!!!

Chris- I literally laughed out loud when I read about your husband and the shots. My husband had to leave the room when we did our nurse teach because even pictures and diagrams make him nauseous. So far, i've done all my own injections. I know what you mean about this being the biggest struggle of your life, I feel like this is the only thing i've ever really wanted and it's not working. I hope that we all come back with BFP's soon!

Another dose of Lupron coming up! I think i'm getting pretty good at this :-)

hopeful- I forgot to tell you that a couple of weeks ago I was watching Kendra (I know, I know, it's a guilty pleasure to keep my mind off of all this baby stuff) and when I found out she was pregnant, I threw the remote and went upstairs and cried! Between my sister and my friends, I have found out about 4 pregnancies in a matter of two weeks and i've just about had it! I feel like it's everywhere! I watch shows like "Bridezillas" and "Say Yes to the Dress" because they're about weddings and not usually babies like everything else :-)

jg- this is hilarious!!!!! me and dh are at argosy chicago (formerly illinois school of professional psychology) for counseling too! got my first master's in public admin from roosevelt but missed working with clients so i decided to go back. you must be able to tell that i have "counseled" myself into acceptance for my struggles and not get pissed when other people have good fortune. lol! we have so much in common, it's wierd. you're a counseling student, you know the drill. keep up the PMA!!!!!!! it's not what happens to us, it's how we handle it. so happy to have found you on here.

fitz- you're right about that! I go through the motions and say all the right things so that I don't alienate myself, but it is really hard! My new plan of action is to keep my eye on the prize and stay focused on the next few weeks that lie ahead and try to stay positive.

mjay- I had a feeling that you were getting a master's in counseling! Good for you starting your internship soon! I'm about mid-way through my program and I took the summer off to focus on getting pregs, so that puts my internship quite far away since i'm working full time, but i'm okay with that. I actually have to do 2 internships since I have 2 concentrations (career counseling and school counseling). Such a small world! In hindsight, I would definitely have gone to Argosy, Roosevelt, or NLU because the drive out to DeKalb is horrible and long.

Okay ladies, I decided to get acupuncture. I know, it's probably a little late to get started with this, but I figure every little bit helps, even if it's just a couple of times. I go in tomorrow night with DH and I think the initial session lasts about 2 hours because they go over diet and things like that too.

JG- I think that is awesome that you are giving yourself the shots. I have to look away and build up to each one. My DH thinks that this is cute????
I haven't started the Menopur shots yet. That is scheduled on 08/15. But has anyone had cramping with the Lupron? I was prepared for headaches but have not had one yet. Just the cramping? Also when do they suggest you start acupuncture?

I truely understand everyones thoughts here on finding out someone else is pregnant. I guess the hardest part for me is watching the news and hearing horrible stories about what people do to their own children. This is when I question why me, when I know that I would do nothing but love and protect my child. I just have to trust that god's plan is taking a little longer for me and that he only gives us what we can handle.

Take care eveyone... It is nice to know that we have some counselors on board!!!!

Miner- You are so right. I just keep telling myself that I only have control over myself and no one else and it's my choice as to how I choose to react to things. It helps me feel a little bit more in control of my own emotions and try not to let myself be overcome by them.

When I called for my acupuncture appointment, I was worried that it was too late, but the lady was more than understanding and said that every little bit helps and they'll put me on the "fast track" over the next couple of weeks, so we'll see. I think I read somewhere that once you start bcp is a good time to come up with a game plan for acupuncture. I thought about it at the time and thought i'd pass this time around, but as the time gets closer and I start to feel more anxious, I feel like this could help. This particular acupuncturist has a specialized plan for patients who are going through IVF, so that makes me feel better. So, to answer your question, I don't think it's ever too early to start acupuncture, but I don't think it's ever too late either!

Quiet

Post by Miner_79 »

Hi there,

It got really quiet on here???? Is everyone OK???

I received news yesterday that my cousin is expecting and she is having twins??? I was floored. She was not even trying and bam 2. I am really happy for her but she is terrified ($$$). One child at a time is expensive let alone two.

JG & mjay, any updates??? I took my last BCP yesterday and am waiting for my aunt to come to town.

I hope everyone is ok...

Miner- Wow, twins! That's wonderful news! Are they her first? I guess for me, if I had twins, I wouldn't really know any different because I never had one to begin with! The money would definitely be tight though, that's for sure! I'm sure that once her fears subside she'll be so happy! How are you doing on the Lupron? Any side effects?

Doing okay over here. No real updates, I start my stims on Saturday, so it's just more waiting and taking the Lupron. Going to acupuncture tonight though.

On Saturday, i'm supposed to: decrease my Lupron to 5 units in the AM and start with 75 units of Menopur at that time. In the PM, i'm supposed to start with 150 units of Gonal F. I go in for my first check on 8/12.

Hopeful- how's the stim cycle going so far? Does the menopur hurt any less? You doing okay? You go in to the doctor on Friday, right? Let us know how it's all going.

Hi all,
this is so exciting. I'm new on here and on my 1st IVF cycle. I started Lupron 10u 7/25 (bad hotflashes and moodswings  ) and started my stim shots Menopur/Follistim 8/6 TODAY and Lupron 5u now, im so excited. I have my b/w and u/s Sun 8/9.

Fitzjr11: I take my Lupron shots around 7 or 8 and right in the belly fat is the best place to give it.

Miner_79: With my first IVF cycle, I was also fearful of the ER. There is nothing to be afraid of. I was put to sleep and when I woke up everything was okay. I do not remember having any pain whatsoever.

Fitz- I do my Lupron shots at 9 pm and I mix it up between the belly and the thigh (mid to outer). The thigh hurts more though, but neither really hurt at all. Good luck!

Welcome ladybug! You're just a couple days ahead of me. Let us know how the other injections go.

Hi there,

JG- yes they are her first. And you said exactly what I said. Once she gets use to the idea she will settle into it... The Lupron is going ok. Im still having mild cramping. I am not sure if this is normal but it is not very often. Other than that it is all good. That is weird that you are taking the Gonal in the evenings. It is opposite for me. I take that in the am and the lupron & menopur in the pm. I am figuring that I am about a week behind you. I start my stims next Sat. so you can go first and tell me all about it. Also please let me know how the acupu. goes. I have decided that I will have a weekly massage until my 1st beta. If I have to go through IVF again (fingers crossed I don't) I will try acup.

Fritz- I take the lupron in the belly. About an inch and a half to the left or right of the belly button. I also alternate side everyday. This was recommended by DR. Hope this helps!!

Ladybug- Sorry to hear about the side effects of the lupron.. :? I have heard that once you start to stim your side effects from the lupron should subside. I will keep my fingers crossed that they do...

Tryn- Thanks for the positive feed back. It is nice to hear that from someone who has been through it not my male DR that has no idea what cramps feel like. LOL :P

Hope everyone is having a GREAT day! Tomorrow is Friday!!! Bring on the weekend!
