Sensible thread Shell-sorry Tracey!

Post by Zed2003 »

Hey there,

Tracey can't tell me off now!! hee-hee

I agree, the sleep thing is the only thing I'd change! Sam feeds about 8/9pm and then plays up until 12/1 - could be a touch of colic, but he only sttles on Steve's tummy  At that feed he either sleeps great and is totally awake after his 4/5 feed, or vice versa. We're now thinking of trying to keep him more awake during the day as he's still sleeping most of it - don't want him to get day and night confused!!!

As for jabs - he has his neonatal appt Tuesday, so if they say he's ok, I think he gets his jabs a week Tuesday - not looking forward to that I must say.

I agree - put Alex in his cot. You'd be so proud of me - his nursey is really coming on. We've got his cot now - a lovely oval shaped one that goes into a bed, then junior bed, then 2 chairs! (although he won't need to be in it for ages!!) and we put a black up blind up today. I'll miss him when he goes into the other room - nobody tells you babies are so noisy when they sleep....

Hope all good with you

Morning Zoe,

Well we can't get told off now can we by bad trace lol.

I am so glad to hear that things are going well with Sam, its just brilliant isn't it. Have you tried Sam with some Gripe water if he is not settling?

Alex had to go to the doctors the other day and he's on antibotics now because he has Oral Thrush in his mouth bless him so I am giving him that, it's supposed to be strawberry flavour but doesn't taste like it to me.

Alex had his last feed at 20:00 and he woke at 05:00 for his bottle and done well and now he's back asleep. It's hard to try and keep your babies awake in the day really, but Alex doesn't sleep much in the day if he grabs half hour thats as much as he has all day.

I am not looking forward to Wednesday when he has his needles I am so nervous. My MOm is coming with me because if I have to hold him and he really cries it will upset me (hate to see him suffer)

I hope to hear from you soon.
Love & Hugs
Kiss for Sam.

Morning!

WOW - 9 hours kip - I'm soooooooooooooo jealous!!! LOL. I keep telling myself that Alex is twice the size of Sam, so his tummy will hold more. Sam opted for only about 3 hours kip between feeds last night and after his 4 am feed, wouldn't go to sleep until 5.15, the monkey :( I'm seriously considering giving him formula on that feed to see if it'll conk him out more...

Thrush seems to be very common in babies. The health visitor thought Sam had it on his bottom for a bit, but the cream seems to have cleared up all the redness, si hopefully it's gone. The don't bother though really - my nephew also had it in his mouth when my sister was breastfeeding so she got it there, then passed it back etc - she soon went on to formula. LOL

Gripe water - does that not go into a bottle? no can do then. Have tried him on Infacol, but it made little difference. The little beggar just won't give up his wind - mind you, this morning I fed him, winded him to get a huge burb and then he posseted big time all over me - mind you, at least this time it was on my hand - the other day it was in my hair!!!!!!!! LOL

I agree with taking someone to get the jabs - I can't stand the thought of them screaming because of it - and they'll probably be gripey after them, so that'll be a joy...

I can't believe Alex sleeps so little during the day - maybe Sam sleeps too much??? will ask at his next heck up. Maybe the monkey has got day and night mixed up. Damn...........!

What you up to today? I'm going to look for curtains for the wee man's room...

Kiss to Alex too

Zoe of course I am reading this - it is not addressed to me - well not directly though the quip is pointed at me!!!!

I am not going to tell you two off for having your own sensible thread - just for corrupting my silly one!! However you are well in the dog house re taking the mickey out of me - you know how sensitive I am!

Shell what is 9 hours sleep exactly - looked for it everywhere but it seems elusive

Zoe - gripe water is magic - I was addicted to the stuff when I was tiny - until I was 5 - had to be weened off it and then found out it contained quite a bit of alcohol in those days - hic!
Take care

Hi Zoe,

Lovely to hear from you, well not so much of a good sleep last night Alex went to bed at 23:00 and was awake at 04:30 wanting a feed then decided to stay awake till 06:00. He has slept for a couple of hours this morning in his cot but then woke up for a feed.

Gripe water is not to go in the feeds you can give it them after a feed and its brill, I was using Infacol for Alex but to be honest it didn't do the trick but Gripe water is brilliant. They can't have it until a month old so Sam would be ok to have it now maybe worth getting some.

Did you manage to get some curtains?

Well today I have changed my bed while Alex was asleep just done the ironing of the last pillow case and he woke up. I am just in between feeds with him, he as a little break and then will drink the rest.

What are you up to today?

Does Sam suck his fist and fingers? Alex as found his now but keeps shoving them in and making himself sick.

Tracey I know you would read this, we would never take it out on you hee hee  we love ya too much

Oh well back to the next round changed Alex's bum go and give him the rest of his feed.

Oh and Zoe thanks for the photo of Sam he is lovely, did you get the one of Alex?

Love & Hugs
and big big kiss for Sam.

Tracey - LOL maybe you should take a couple of spoons and stop telling us off         I will remind you of all this when you post your sensible questions once the wee one arrives - the day is a coming!!!!!!!!

Shell - must be something about last night - thought we'd cracked it with Sam as he slept until 11.30 after his feed which is his normal bad time, BUT then did not sleep again until 2.15 :( - he was a s bright as a button the monkey! MIght try gripe water.

Was at the hospital with Sam and they are very pleased with him - they say he is very active and will make a great footballer!!! (Steve happy) He's 6lb 11.5 now, bring on 7lbs!! The consultant was great and told me to not feel bad if I want to give him a formula feed through the night - the health visitors/midives here really push breastfeeding and the guilt has made me hold back...Yes, he's been sucking his fingers/hand since the 21 week scan :o but now he tries to shove the whole hand in his mouth & sucks frantically which is so funny. I saw the photo os Alex on FF, but didn't get anything on email - did you send something?

As for curtains - how hard is it to get something for a boy that hasn't got spiderman etc on it???????????????? Girls seem well catered for. Finally got something in Argos and I've just put them up - Steve'll tell me off when he comes back, cos I promised I'd try and kip - I've had a stormer of a headache (I never get them usually :( ), but I think it's a lack of sleep and liquid. (no Tracey - not of the alcoholic variety hee-hee)

Anyway, away to mess the bed to make it look like I've been in it  !!!!

What you been doing today?

You two do make me smile - it is lovely to read your posts though!

Shell - why on earth do you iron pillow cases - haven't you enough on you plate?

Zoe - it is wee ones remember not wee one coming along - I hope still ok on thursday - panick panick.

Have you tried not letting Sam sleep until 11.30 - wake him up and feed him at 10 then put him down again - maybe me just being a plonker - infact have you read Gina Ford?

Take care you two and love and hugs to the boys

SORRY - wee ones - (told off again, ever consider teaching?)

Have tried various thing - AND he never slept in the afternoon so he should have been tired...HA (Steve's even tried pick up, put down a la baby whisperer)

Shell - meant to comment on the ironing - pillowcases???? that's like ironing pants  (silly enough Trace?). they only get creased again when you sleep on them! Seriously, I ironed for the first 10 years of our relationship, then stopped and said Steve could have the next 10 years     We buy non-iron stuff now...

Or knickers - last time I did that was in Oz when I had to check all the spiders were out of them - not nice to have a funnel web in your mary is it!!!

Off to do a spot of work

Hi Girls

Sorry to but in but I don't post very much and I know you two are both discussing wind etc with Alex and Sam and I thought I would tell you about Dr Browns bottles.

Madi and Callum had terrible trouble with getting up wind and like you I tried gripe water and infacol. Dr Browns bottles are brilliant!!!! They have a vent in that draw out the wind and the minute they finish feeding they burp for england. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone!!

It's nice to hear both boys are doing well, injections are absolutely awful I have to go through it twice each time but am glad they have had their final one yesterday which was the worst!! Make sure you both have calpol on hand because of temperture and pain!

love

HI Emma,

Just want to say its no problem you butting in everyone is welcome to have a chat. Thanks for the information the Dr Brown bottles I did buy 2 from Mothercare a little pricy but I took mine back to be honest I think they was faulty. I did open them and I tested them with water and the water wouldn't even go up the tube and then when it did you couldn't even suck the teat. I said to them at mothercare if I can't suck water through the teat how is my son going to suck milk and they gave me a refund. I have now changed Alex onto a different flow teat on the Avent bottles and he is ok so I ain't complaining.

He also had his needles yesterday and all he seems to want to do is sleep. I did give him some Calpol last night before he went to bed because he was crying so much, its horrible to see them in pain isn't it.

Also Alex been weighed and he is now 13lb 14oz so I can't complain. He's got to go to the hospital because the doctor wants his hip to be checked out because thinks he may have a slight clicky hip so just waiting now for the appointment to come through, its such a worry.

Zoe how you doing? how is Sam?

Love
Shell.

Shell- hiya mate. sam fine but sleep erratic again last night. was supposed to be going into edinburgh with steve today as he was meeting a client, but no chance - was too knackered! very disappointing. didn't even get my 2 hrs kip before his late feed last night as my mind was active thinking about work :( how bad is that & i'm not even there, but i had to look through application forms to leet candidates for interview & i've to let my headteacher know today....i can't escape! argghhhhhhhhh :( :( :( :( :( )

anyway, he's asleep in my arms now the monkey which is why i've no capitals - typing one handed!

well done on surviving the jabs!!!!!!!!!! how is alex today???
