just wanted a moan.....sry

Post by alisonn »

have been having very bad headaches at least 3 a wk, i try not
to take any painkillers but in the end i have to.
I phone the midwife no. today, as i had to book my first appointment
after my 22 wk scan end of april and mentioned the headaches,
and the reply was as long as u are not taking too many painkillers
not to worry, so i mentioned that can these headaches be due to
high blood pressure and should i see the doc. and she said yes to
both of these questions. Surely she should be telling me these
things rather than me, they didnt ask anything about my age/history.
Anyway i have an appointment with the docs trmw morning, im sure
it will be ok, im just going thru that emontional/worrying bit
am 17 wks and dont have my scan till 22wks and just concerned
everything is ok........had the tears yesterday !!!!!!
tks for listening.

Allison,
i had really bad headaches too around 3 weeks ago, They came on slowly during the evening and every time i woke in the night they were more painful. This went on maybe every other night for a couple of weeks. I tried not to take anything, but if it was getting really bad i took one paracetomol. Make sure you drink as much water as possible during the day. I'm convinced this helps (at least 2 litres)
It will pass.
helen :D

Hi Allison,

Sorry you're feeling so rotten - headaches seem to be part and parcel of pregnancy for some it seems although that's of little consolation - you're midwife could have been more supportive I think.

Have you tried one of those gel packs things for your eyes - you can warm or cool them depending on your headache?

Hope you feel better soon

hi alisonn,

like you and helen i had really bad headaches around wk 16 - 19, everyday. we checked out painkillers and i'd take one if it was really bad. i'd wake in the middle of the night and it would be worse! then they just stopped, thankfully.

your midwife could be more helpful but i think we often face this. medical proffesionals are not always too forthcoming. you did the right thing, know as much as you can, so that you can ask probing questions. And it's good to cry, let it all out.

hope all goes well at the docs.

Hi Alisonn,
I am very sorry to hear about the headaches. I've been having some too although they are bearable, they make me move as if in a fog. I hope for you they are just hormonal and not high blood pressure. Insist to see a doctor if the midwife is unhelpful!
love,
juliana

Alison

Sorry to hear you are upset and the headaches - I had crashing ones around that time but upped my drinking even more - this cured it - try and drink as much as you can during the day! But let me assure you paratamol do not cross the placenta and are fine.

Insist you get proper service and answers - take care
Love
