ACUPUNCTURE REFERRAL DENIED BY INSURANCE.

Post by ruthiej74 »

I received a letter in the mail yesterday that my referral for acupuncture was denied by my insurance company...what a let down!!! I was so hoping to go through this cycle with acupuncture because it is our last cycle and I wanted to do everything I could to give me the best chance possible. We can't afford to pay for the acupuncture on our own right now. I am trying to stay positive for this cycle because everyone keeps telling me I should go into this with a positive attitude but it is so very hard when I have been let down so many times before. Does anyone have any suggestions for me that don't involve acupuncture? Thanks!!

Hi Ruthie,
You could get a book on acupuncture/acupressure points and have your husband treat your acupressure points for overall relaxation. Many places offer free meditation classes which should help reduce stress. My acupuncturist says to try to do meditation, yoga, and acupuncture to help stress level, increase blood flow, and remain positive. You could always goto an acupuncturist a couple of times and pay out of pocket...and ask them what else you can do. You never know. They may have a sliding scale on their fee.
Good luck!

i have been going to a school where the interns do the acupucnture and the clinician oversees their work. it's way way cheaper. check out acupuncture and massage schools in your area to see if they have a clinic.

Be sure that you talk to acupuncturists in your area. Tell them your story. My insurance benefit ran out, but clinic worked with me. Instead of $75 rate, they discounted me to $45. The two most important treatments according to my therapist, is the one 12-24 hours before transfer, and the treatment following 1 hour of when they put them back in. If nothing else, maybe you could do those two.
