It appears I have developed a severe allergic reaction to my PIO injections. My doctor is doing an "experiment" today to confirm the suspicion. I started running a fever a couple of days ago that wouldn't go away and was accompanied by no other symptoms of illness. However, I did notice I was having difficulty breathing and chest tightness, and it always coincided within an hour's time of my injection. It didn't occur to me that it was related (how can I be allergic to progesterone, right???). When I told my doctor that last tidbit, she immediately told me to stop the injections, as I could go into respiratory arrest. She had me take a suppository instead this afternoon to see what happens, and sure enough, I have not had any trouble breathing and no fever today. I cannot believe how much better I feel (and how horribly I have felt this past week on the PIO). Anyone else experience this??? I wonder how rare it is. Btw, my PIO was in ethyl oleate.

I also had an allergic reaction to the progesterone injections. Mine was mixed with sesame oil. My injection site was swollen and hot to the touch and bruised and caused me to have a fever. They took me off the injections and put me on some progesterone pills from a pharmacy in Lakewood, Colorado called Belmar Pharmacy. Apparently these pills are the closest you can get to getting the potency of the shot. I guess they are doing good because I got my first beta Friday 8/14 # 69 and my progesterone level was 95. Then again Im also taking progesterone suppositories twice daily.
I didn't have any reactions at the injection site except for being swollen and hardened there due to the duration I had been on them. So far so good with the suppositories (HATE the leakage ugh), but I just can't get over how much better how feel. I'm still a bit dumbfounded because I don't have allergies, but this crept up on me. I guess my body had had enough. I just hope these suppositories do a good job of keeping my prog level up!
