I wonder if you all had the same problem as me logging in yesterday. My DP, who is an IT director, was saying how people get so addicted to these forums and everyone would be probably getting withdrawal symptoms. I only found this the other day and am already logging in all the time.

We had our information session today, which was quite good as up till now we were a bit vague on why we were taking what and why. I learnt more on this site though.

I am starting sniffing with Synarel (or something like that) on Wednesday for two weeks. They gave me a whole schedule today.

We have been wanting to go on holiday for ages but haven't been able to as we never knew when scans and things would fall. (this has been hard for me as I have always travelled a lot). However, my DP recently gave me a surprise holiday to San Fransisco for June (as the 5th anniversary of us getting together). If our results our positive in May we are supposed to have a scan about this time, but we couldn't let it mess up everything we want to do.

So how many of you are sniffing and how many injecting this week? Are we all on different drugs? Obviously it is slightly different for each of us. As I have just joined this site I am now trying to keep up with who is doing what and when.

Good luck

Hi Tania

Yes I had problems logging on too which really bugged me - big time. I have depended on this site and all my cyber buddies to help me through a really tough time and one day not being able to talk to them seemed like a lifetime :x

I hope your sniffing is goes OK and that everything goes just how you dreamed even if it means the lovely holiday gets put on hold. It will deffo be worth it.

Hello ACB's

I am sneaking in here to introduce myself as I have just had my first treatment cancelled close to ER due to poor response (See MCB's thread) - anyway, hope to start the ball rolling again when AF arrives in a couple of weeks. So HELLLLLLLLLLOOO

I'll be starting with Lupron on Sunday (April 4). This is my first time undergoing IVF. Due to pretty severe male factor infertility, they basically told us IVF with ISCI is our only option. I am terrified about this whole thing. I'm a complete baby when it comes to needles and I'm worried about all of the dreaded side effects of the injectibles that I've read about. And, of course, my biggest fear is that it won't work and will all be for nothing. :(

At any rate, I'd love to correspond (commiserate) with others undergoing their first cycle around the same time as me.

Anyone out there?

Hello Amithris

This is also my first time doing IVF. I have done IUI but that is a lot less invasive and the way I did it mostly drug free.

Is Lupron a sniffer or an injection?

I start sniffing tomorrow and I am extremely worried, like you in the side effects of that and then when I start injecting two weeks later. I have already injected once, for a couple of days when I did IUI. It wasn't as bad as I thought even though I am very squeamish. Luckily I used the auto-injector and you just kind of press the button and not push the needle in. Unfotunately, only after a couple of days I felt like I had PMT.

Does that mean your egg collection is at the end of April?

I can't stop thinking about it and am trying not to imagine myself pregnant or with babies yet.

Good luck

WOW - 2 full pages since I last looked - SO exciting!!
Really nice to see so many new faces and the old ones too!

Re side effects - I had none really on Purgenon last time. So hopefully the same this time. Just felt a bit bloated towards the end and emotional - but that could be anything!

Re the gym - I have been told to carry on as normal - i certainly cant see it would do any harm pre et. Maybe take it easy for a few days after. I started excising a few days after et last time and I think it was a bit soon. Its just that i go a bit potty not doing anything!
My doc described the embie (once its implanted) as being like a pea in a pot of honey -ie you can shake it around all over the place - but it wont actually come to any harm.
everything in moderation i think!

Well AF has arrived with vengence this morning - looks like I'll be daily injection from next Thursday (not sure why I have to wait so long!)

I feel weirdly relaxed at the moment and quite philosophical. A guy I know (not v well) was killed yesterday....so so awful, and I think its slightly put everything into perspective. O Listen to me - you can bet I wont be so cool in 2 weeks time! I actually cant quite believe I'm here again - think I'm in denial actually!

We have our donor back up lined up. So looks like we're all systems go tho - so may as well start on the PMA!!

Big X

Hi Tania,

Lupron is an injection but, from reading message boards, it seems like most people are using Synarel (or some other kind of nasal spray instead) so I am going to ask my Dr. about it tomorrow. My husband and I have to go in for our final appointment to get the prescriptions, sign paperwork, etc. tomorrow. I hope they will agree to let me sniff instead. The less shots I have to endure the better!

I think my egg retrieval will happen around the end of April. I'm hoping nothing goes wrong because my husband travels a lot for business so we are cutting things a little close as far as his not being away at a key time.

I'm trying to have a positive outlook about this whole thing but I'm afraid it won't work. Did you tell a lot of people that you were doing IVF? We made the mistake of telling our families and a few friends and I'm starting to wish we didn't!

Let me know how your first few days of sniffing go since you are starting a few days ahead of me.

Hello Amithris

In my hospital, Barts, we had an info session with a group of people starting at the same time as us and the majority take Synarel but some do inject. I have a feeling that there is a reason why some take the injection instead of sniffing, it may depend on your body, your problem etc, but I may be wrong.

I have told my family and some friends too. I understand what you mean as now everyone seems to know when I am doing what and that means in the 2ww everyone will be saying so when is the test date etc. I told my sister a long time ago as I tell her everything but only recently told my Dad as I thought he may get upset not knowing I was going through something so heavy. (we are very close). I have also told a few friends but not everyone. My problem has been the amount of people asking if we want children or when we are going to have children and it is getting too much. I suppose it is because of my age and my sister recently had two and obviously so many people around us. Luckily I do have a lot of friends ten years younger than me so they are not trying, so from them less questions.

I start sniffing today so I will let you know if I have killed anyone later!

Good luck

Hi Girls,

Welcome to all the first timers.
Well Girls, my sisters baby is beautiful, it's a baby girl 6lbs 12oz - everyone is great. It really is lovely to be an Aunty for the first time and although they would have liked a boy I'm pleased it's a girl as that is what I would want - I can really spoil her!!! Just got my dates and although AF started on the 1st I don't start sniffing until 15th April with ET on week of 17th May so looks like I'm 2 weeks behind a lot of you, I'll be starting my 2ww later! Hope some of you are still around for support!

ps - there was a lady in my sisters ward who had just had twins by c-section- I think she needed it as they were 8Ibs 2oz and 7lb 10oz!!!!! Oh my god!
me 38 DH 47 - TTC - 3.5 years - tubal infertility
4 failed IVF cycles - 1 abandoned
Found to have raised FSH when going for 5th cycle
Now looking at adoption
Let the new adventure start!

Hi All

It looks as if I may be very behind you all...............af is late so this delays my downregging date until late April. I've got the back ache but I dont know if this is cos I'm stressed at work (coursework deadline for 6 groups this week!) or af. Oh well, at least the kids who are late with coursework are getting the full brunt of PMT fuelled stress! :D

Have a good weekend, I'm off to sunny sussex by the sea for brother-in-laws 30th.

Love
