For those of you that are parents of twins what type of sleeping arrangement did your twins have? Did they sleep together in a crib or bassinet? If so, for how long? Would you recommend buying 2 cribs right away? Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hi. Congrats on your twins. We did not co-sleep our twins. They were premature and spent time in the nicu. And the nicu no longer cosleeps twins either. One came home before the other. We tried a pack n play next to our bed and were going to use that for both of them for a while, but they were used to noise and lights in the nicu so we moved them to their room, in seperate cribs and left on a light and some music. It worked out fine. Their cribs are across from each other and now they are 16 months and love to entertain each other from their cribs. Some places offer discounts when buying for mulitples so it might be benefical to buy them both at once even if you do share at first. Pack n play could be a good idea if you want to keep them in your room for a while. They have ones with bassinets or a top mattress that would hold both for a while.
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
Our twins never shared a bed. They were in the NICU as well and did not co-sleep. I only know of one mom that co-sleeps her twins and they are almost one. I can not imagine and my kids are all over the crib. I never did bassinets either. Waste of money in my mind but a lot of people love them. I did 2 cribs and put them in their own crib from day one.
Congrats on the twins though! They are a lot of work but very much worth it!
My twins did co sleep for the first three months, I put one of the cribs in our room (did not have bassinets) and they both slept there quite well until three months when they were to big and moving more so I returned the crib to their room where they sleep each one on their own crib, when they were 3 months they only took a dream feed at 10:30 and then slept until next day so it was not that difficult having them on their room. I also put their cribs one in front of the other so when they wake up they stand up look at each other and start laughing and talking in their own language, it is so fun!
I started my twins together in a bassinet but that only lasted a couple of weeks and they were quite cramped. So, I moved them both into one crib until 4 months - at that stage they were moving around a lot and my little boy was head-butting my little girl. It was time to separate them. I had two cribs right at the beginning but didn't use the second one until the 4th month.
good luck to you!!!

We have one of those things that attach to the crib...well now Carsyn is in a toddler bed so we attached it to that. It is a soother. She will periodically wake up at night and you will hear that thing playing music. Maybe try that.
