Mjay- I am thinking of you and hoping that you don't overstimulate. try and drink plenty of fluids. I have heard that this will help..

JG-- I am LMAO right now. For some reason I have a visual of you standing in the kitchen with the shot in your hand doing a new years eve count down.. LOL. I will be thinking and praying for you during your retrieval. As for your question about time off. I am planning on taking about five days total off once I find out more tentative dates. probably 2 or 3 for retrieval and 2 or 3 for transfer. I have the time off so why not take it. Plus my mom is going to come in and help my DH take care of me so I figure that we will go shopping too. :P I think it is just a personal thing.. Plus because it is my first time I am not sure what to expect...

Fitz-- Hope your retrieval is going great.. Let us know how you are doing as soon as you feel up to it..

AFM--- I am good today.. I am really confused about something.. I really thought that I would be more use to these shots by now but they seem to be getting more painful. Anyone else experiencing this?

jg - i think you and I are on the same schedule. I took my HCG shot last night and ER is scheduled for tomorrow at 9am. We could clearly see 16 follicles with a few smaller ones that he thinks will increase the counts. But again, my issue isn't numbers bu mature eggs which he says is very unusual. So all keep good thoughts in mind for me. Hopefully by changing up this protocal we will see better results.

Good luck everyone!

kristyb- Yep, you have your retrieval about 15 minutes after me (I guess it depends on your time zone :-)). Are you excited? I am having a tough time concentrating at work, that's for sure! I wasn't sure what you meant by your doctor saying that was unusual.

miner- yes, you would be right, I was standing there pretty much counting down and then stuck myself at exactly 9:30. I even made sure I used my cell phone clock because it's 100% accurate. They just sounded so serious about it in the message and couldn't stress it enough and with my luck, i'd go in there and they'd be like "you gave yourself the ovidrel at 9:32, didn't you? well, now you've ruined it!". Okay, well, they're not mean or anything, but I guess that's my worst case scenario.

Fitz- Hang in there. I was on stims for 10 days and I had no clue about the retrieval until just yesterday (day 10 of stims). You still have time. I didn't respond right away to the stims and within a few days, my numbers just jumped, they didn't change up my meds either. Everybody's different and i'm sure that you'll start to see results in no time! I'll be thinking about you.

mjay- I wanted to let you know to try and keep your sodium levels down, if you haven't been already. Surprisingly, Gatorade has an incredibly high level of sodium. Here's a link to something that I found that I thought had some good advice: http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/ivfhints.html

fitz- my clinic said that 10 days of stimming is the average. so just like jg said she got her retrieval date after 10 days; tomorrow will be day 10 for me and they 'think' that will be all i need too!. your retrieval will be here in no time!

jg- you are hilarious. i was thinking about using my cell phone too so i'm glad to know that i'm not the only lame that would do that.

miner- i've read other people that agree with you about the shots being more painful. i wonder why? that has not been my experience, but just keep the end goal in mind when giving yourself the shots.

ladybug- how did the transfer go? thinking of you...

afm- they took me off follistim last night, so even though my E2 is rising, it's not rising as fast so the nurse told me that was a good thing. she said i will probably have one more day of bw and u/s and then move on to the trigger. pray that i don't overstimulate, please!!! i never considered that as a possibility until the nurse told me that today. unfortunately my nurse will be off tomorrow so i have to wait to here from her back up. i hate talking to her b/c she is so impersonal and she waits until 3:59pm (literally) to call and the clinic closes at 4! so i have to wait by the phone to catch her. my nurse usually calls in the early afternoon.

Hi there,

Hope everyone is doing well...

AFM- I had my 1st ultra sound today and the eggs are going very well. My E2 is at 1400 and my largest folicle is at 16mm. I have 12 plus on my right side and 6 plus on my left. I spoke to the DR this afternoon and they may move my retrieval up due to my progress... I am not sure if this is good or bad... I have only been on stims for 5 days???
My DH and I were talking about it and we are tired of hearing how great our progress is throughout our whole infertility experience. Because everytime we get our hopes up and get this huge let down when we get the BFN... It is really hard when they can not find anything wrong with you but obviously there is something wrong or I would have 12 kids by now..LOL (sorry had to throw that in there).. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.. I think the hormones are starting to effect me..

Take care!!!

miner- it's totally ok to vent! glad you're making progress on the stims. i know exactly how you feel about them telling you how great you're progressing. i really don't think any of that matters unless you get a BFP. it doesn't matter how good or bad you progress, as long as you get there.

jg- was the retrieval today??? how did it go? thinking of you...

afm- i trigger tonight!!!!! i'm so nervous. the nurse did worse this time as far as calling me to discuss my results. the clinic closes at 4 and i hadn't heard from her by 4:30 so i called their answering service. when i got her on the phone she said, "you were next on my list to call. sorry, i should have called you sooner." UGH!!!!! she asked me if i had any health problems and i told her i have asthma. this was news to her, and she asked if i was told i need clearance from my allergist to have the retrieval. i told her no and i also made it clear that i had disclosed this at the very beginning and told my RE what asthma and allergy meds i am on. she told me to get clearance, just in case. so fortunately my allergist is open late and i got his receptionist on the phone. she's great! i explained the situation and she said she would call me once she spoke with my doctor. this better not be a problem!!!! the nurse also told me to be very careful over the next day b/c there's so much activity in my ovaries, they could twist. anyway, i'm so excited about ER!!! i'm so sore, i have trouble walking. can't wait to get these out of me!

I'm pretty new to all of this. It seems like a lot of us are in the same boat. In fact, I wasn't even supposed to have IVF. I started with Bravelle for an IUI, but produced so many follicles (I have PCOS) that my doctor switched me over. So suddenly I'm dealing with paying a butt-load of money and all the meds that come after the retrieval, etc.

I will be taking my hCG tonight at 10:30 and praying that it doesn't make me feel worse. I'm also freaking out about the needle. Seriously, does that hurt more than the injections in the tummy which I've already done??? And the progesterone shots afterwards?

dtao- welcome! how did your hcg injection go? Do you have your retrieval tomorrow then? GL!

mjay- I'm hoping you got your clearance. Is your retrieval tomorrow? I'll be thinking of you!

Miner- that's awesome news that you're responding so well to the meds. My E2 level was only 160 on day 5 and that was pretty low compared to the other people on the boards. I'm with you with all the stuff that people tell us though. I get sick of hearing it all too and I just want them to get to the point! You can vent here anytime, god knows I have! It's hard for other people to understand what we're going through right now, I think.

Fitz- I know what you mean about DH being pretty quiet about the whole thing. My DH is the same way, but when I finally got him to talk, I realized that he is just as keyed up about this as I am. He is also so worried about me because of all the stuff I have to go through. I don't want him to worry, but it was nice to hear. How was your doctor's appointment? Did the bleeding stop?

AFM- I had my retrieval yesterday and i'm home from work today recovering. Retrieval went well, I had 14 eggs (I was surprised, thought there would be more), but today they called and said that 11 fertilized (we used ICSI). I'm pretty happy with that. As for the retrieval itself, I had some cramping afterward and they gave me some tylenol 3 for that. I pretty much tried to get out of there as soon as possible so that I could get home to my own bed. It was so busy there yesterday morning with retrievals and I was tired of hearing what was going on with everyone else because they had us all in the same room with curtains drawn around us. I was pretty out of it, but DH told me that it only took about 15-20 minutes. I guess when I came out, I asked him what time it was 4 times in 1 minute. :-) He thought it was funny. Today, I feel okay, just some cramping and sort of like I did a million situps too. My dogs do not seem to care that I'm feeling like this and they insist on playing and whine until I do. I've created little monsters, I guess :-)

In other news, on Tuesday when I got home from work, I had a message from my best friend and her mom had died unexpectedly. She was my neighbor from the time I was born until I went off to college, so her mom was like family. It's all very sad and I have a wake to attend today and a funeral tomorrow. What a way to spend my days post-retrieval/pre-transfer, huh? I just hope that she's watching over me right now through this whole process and helping us out!

Hey ladies,
Sorry I took so long to reply. I had my ET on Tues and everything went well. I pray my little embies stick. So now im officially on my 2ww.

JG_379: Thx so much for thinking of me. I did take off of work and im just relaxing so these babies stick. Im glad your retrieval went well. 11 fertilized and thats great. I cramped also. Im so sorry to here about your friends mom. She sure will be watching over you. You are in my prayers. GL with ET.

mjay: I hope your trigger went well. GL with ER. Yes it feels like golf balls in your ovaries. They should have been on top of your allergy meds and clearance from before but you got the clearance so thats great. Thx, my ET went well just a little uncomfortable like a pap smear which i hate and my valium didnt do anything for me but it was painless.

Miner_79: Thats a great amount of eggs. They will grow some more. Stay positive.

Thinking of you ladies and GL to all. Will keep you posted

Hi ladies,

Mjay-- I am mad for you... Nothing bothers me more stuff like that.. This is her job and she obviously dropped the ball. And the bad part is that you need to stay relaxed and not worry and she is causing you to do the opposite. If you would like me to call and talk to her I will. j/k
I am glad you got the clearance.. Hang in there... We are almost to our BFP's.
Dtao-- Welcome, we are glad that you are here. GL with your trigger.. Keep us posted.
JG- I am so sorry to hear about your friends mother. That is just horrible.. On a brighter note congrads on your 11 fert eggs. Try to take it easy if you can.. I have a 8month old boxer pup that is just a giant ball of energy and it is going to be very hard for me to recover with him around... So I know what you mean. :P
Ladybug-- Congrats on the ET.. try and take it easy. PMA.. Hopefully the 2ww will fly right by..

AFM- I am getting full. There is a lot of pressure in my ovaries. I can't see how I can go another 5 days but we will see. BW & u/s in the am. Hope everyone is having a GREAT week! Friday is tomorrow!!! Yeah!
