Triplets!!!

Post by Hopeful_VA »

My husband and I found out today that we are pregnant with triplets and was wondering if anyone else is currently pregnant with triplets. I know anything can happen as it is still early but it would be nice to talk with someone else in the same position. This was our second IVF treatment, we transfered 2 embryos at day 3. Out first ended with a D&C at 9 weeks. The U/S today showed HBs of 164, 161 & 113. One of the heart rates is alittle lower than the doctor would like to see it so we will be going in again next week for another U/S. We are so thankful for the good news today but am also nervous.

Hi Hopeful,

I remember you from the NOvember Board. I just wanted to congratulate you on the great news!!!! way to go girl! Just try to take it one day at a time; I know, easier said than done.
Unfortunately, I cannot help you on the triplet issue.

Thanks Nancy, I really appreciate the note! I was on the November 2009 board during my first IVF. It is a little overwhelming but like you said one day at a time is all we can do right now.

Mally,
Thanks so much for your note. I am sorry to see that IVF has not worked for you yet but I am sure it will. I can tell you my shock from yesterday has turned into complete fear today. Just unsure how we will manage 3 babies at once.

Hi Rosario,

Congrats on your Triplets!! You are further along than I am since I am only 6w4d today. I have to say that my shock from yesterday when we found out has changed to complete fear. I know we have a long road ahead of us so I am trying not to freak out just yet. Baby C's HR was 113 which is lower than what the doctor wanted to see so we are looking forward to the U/S next Thursday as it will likely tell us more. Did you go through degrees of excitment, shock and fear? When did you start to have morning sickness? I feel pretty sick most of the day but I have not thrown up yet but I am sure it is coming.

Where you on the November 2009 forum? I think I remember you from that forum. I was on it until I lost the pregnancy at 9 weeks.

I am from the Dec 2009 and the Feb 2009 forum. I am on both because technically I won't deliver in Feb since all Triplets won't go to 40 wks. I pretty much knew I was having Triplets since I was 4.5 weeks. My biggest surprise was the set of identical twins seen at 5.5 wks (i think)... I am trying not to get so excited over the pregnancy just yet. A lot can happen. I have passed the 12 wk mark which lowers the chances of a vanishing twin/triplet. I am just scared of preterm labor.

Hi Hopeful,

I have GBB trips born on 12/31/07 so I cycled in April/May of 2007. I used to love this site but haven't been on here in forever. But I did want to say congrats and you can so do it! triplets are a blast, 3 times the fun! Make sure you have good doctors, get your cervix checked every week, and take it easy. Listen to your body, drink lots of water and eat lots of protein and dairy to grow those babies. Mine were born at 34w3d and were 5.9, 5.6, and 4.11 so I had some big babies. If you haven't already, join the Triplet Connection. They have a great forum and site with lots of helpful ladies on there. :)

Hopeful and Rosario--
Congrats on your pregnancies! Drink lots of water, find a good perinatologist that you trust, get lots of rest, and ask lots of questions.

Consider reading "When you are expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads" by Dr. Luke. I found it very helpful and my perinatologist makes it "required reading" for his patients carrying triplets.

I delivered GBB triplets (no identicals) in 8/08 at 29 wks gestation. They are now doing well and are healthy.

I agree with fulloffaith that Triplet Connection may be a good resource for you. Also look into Mothers of Muliples groups in your cities. I actually just found a triplet/quad group where I live which would have been helpful for me while pregnant.

Wishing you both healthy and VERY long pregnancies:)
Feel free to contact me with questions.

Hi All,

We had our second visit with our perinatologist today. He did another scan to make sure the identicals are not sharing a placenta which he determined that they are not so that is one less thing to worry about. Baby B who's sac was measuring small is currently only a few days behind what it should be. All three hbs were very strong at 179, 188 & 183. All looks well at this point. I am currently 9w5d today and the plan is to sew my cervix shut at 14w and to go on bedrest at 20w. These are precautions my specialist takes...not sure if any of you experienced the same thing or if Rosario has been informed of the same info. All of this is overwhelming so am just hoping to see what everyone was told or has been told at this point.

triplets

Post by lolap »

My sister had triplets (conceived naturally) three years ago. she also has a six yesr old. They were born at 32 weeks all over 5lbs. It was hard for her when they were all small babies, between the night feeds and everything but she managed fine. she said it is all about being organised!

Ok guys so I have some bad news... My cervix is no longer a nice long cervix... My cervix is unfortunately measuring 19mm (1.9cm) and I am 1cm dialated. I am on bed rest as of today. All I can say is to have me in your prayers. Doctors say its too late to stitch me and we have to go with the flow. I can shower, use the restroom, not cook for long... basically stay in bed all day long.
