Hi Gals,
So I went for my first u/s to find that there are 2 sacs, 2yolks, but the doc could only see and hear 1 heartbeat. The sac without a heartbeat was a little harder to see. My question is has this happened to any of you? If so please share your story. I want to know if it's possible for the other baby to develop or is the beginning of a loss?
Tortilla, I am sorry for your stress right now! I do know of someone recently finding out she had twins after an initial u/s at 7 weeks showed one sac without a heartbeat and one with a heartbeat - and the second one made it! You may wish to put this question out again and see if she responds, as I am not sure how her chances were of the second one making it. I do know that some embryos don't have a heartbeat until a bit later, and with twins, it may have implanted later, as well - you just don't know. Unfortunately, patience is your best course right now, and there is hope that the little one will pick it up and make it yet. I wish you the best of luck to see that little heartbeat soon on the second sac!
That perrson was me! We had first scan at 7w3d and saw two sacs and one strong heartbeat. Was just thankful that had 1 healthy heartbeat and focused on that. Dh was convinced it would be twins though! At 12w scan we saw two little babies both measuring on scale both with strong heartbeats:-)
Wishful: Thanks so much for sharing your story. Now I have some hope that I will hear the other heartbeat. So you had an u/s at 7w3d...then did you not have another u/s until week 12? Or did you still only see one heartbeat at the u/s in between?
