First IVF Cycle --Need Advice Please

Hello All,

I want to thank everyone for the invaluable information on this site. This is my first post, however I have done a LOT of reading here!

I am 39 years old, with no known fertility issues other than my age. My husband is 36 and has been diagnosed with a low sperm count.

Prior to starting our IVF cycle, I had 2 ultrasounds to determine my follicle count. In January 2009, the ultrasound showed 10 follicles. I also had an ultrasound in July 2009, prior to our starting the IVF cycle. At that time, 9 follicles were present.

Currently, I am on day 8 of my stimulating hormones. (Menopur, Gonal-f and Lupron). I have only 7 follicles. Additionally, when I first started with Lupron, my mouth/lips started to swell. My question/concern is this: shouldn't I have MORE follicles with stimulating hormones, rather than less than I had prior to this IVF cycle? Has anyone else experienced this??

I have an ultrasound and blood work appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning. I am going to ask to discuss this with the Dr. at that time, but in the meanwhile any feedback or advice with be GREATLY appreciated.

A lot of times women do not get more then their antral follicle count. Sometimes they get less just depends on how your body reacts to the stims. There are times that they do get more eggs at ER so you might get more eggs then 7. At this point you can't change anything. Just hope that you have a few good eggs that fertilize and stick. It only takes 1.
