CONGRATULATIONS on the BFP Kim!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first u/s is not until next tues. The last two days I've had an awful migraine but it has subsided now thank goodness. I'm hoping it was just the flux in hormones.

Does anyone know if the flu shot is recommended in the first trimester?

Congrats Kim, that is wonderful.

Pauline, We were just in Prague and cycled at Gennet, so I can fill you in on whatever you need. We stayed in a great family owned hotel called Dum u velke boty "House at the Big Boot", They welcome you in like you are one of the family, and help with whatever you need. They are located right across from the German Embassy and you can take public transportation or a taxi ($7) to the clinic.

I had my first U/S today at 6w1d; there is one baby that is meas 5w6d with strong heartbeat and proper size gest sac. Doctor seemed happy with no concerns. I am having a hard time relaxing and just being happy I am pg. She drew another p4 so I am waiting for results. My next appt & U/S is Sept 15th.

Poohgirl - Try to trust your RE. I know it's hard not to stress. I hope everything is pefect for transfer. Your donors scan should be coming up....have everything crossed for you.

Kim - Yay!!!!!!! Well done :D . Lol at your dh  .

Summer - How very exciting!! Not long to go. Have you decided on any names? I take it you don't know the sex of your bub? I love the suprise. I'll be doing the same.

JDC - Bummer about the migrane. Awful things they are. I don't know that I would get the flu shot....I've never had it actually, but I think I'd be too cautious since you're pg.

Stef - It's the most gorgeous thing seeing that little heart beat...it makes it seem a little more real. Here's to a happy healthy 8 months!

KIM: Yahoo KIm! Great news. Stay positive. This is a different pregnancy than any other and no need to worry.

Summer: I had a scheduled c-section with my dd and have to say it was wonderful. Everyone was happy...No stress and easy easy recovery. I was home within 48 hours of delivery. Very exciting.

JDC: Wow. That is some beta for you. Are we thinking twins as well?

Poohgirl: No worries about the fluid...I have fluid too. I asked the doctor if that was bad (he runs the clinic) and he said it's not bad unless it was something bad causing it and they didn't see a problem that could have been causing it. I felt a little unsettled after that but they weren't the least bit concerned. Did you google it? I never did.

AFM: DH has to come home from our vacation for Labor Day to contribute his stuff. We were told originally it would have been this week but I guess they estimated inaccurately. We are away with another family so this is getting tricky. It's a 3 hour drive and he needs to be at the clinic at 7:30 a.m. so he will leave Sat. night. I will probably have retrieval the day after my son's MRI on Wed. Again, we scheduled this all thinking the ER and ET would have been last week. Distractions can be good too.

How long do the donor's usually take for ER from start date? I thought it only took 8 to 10 days but I think they had me on the max of hormones because of my low response rate.
It is what it is and we are going with the craziness at this time.

Hi All happy thursday!

JDC--Awesome about the scan That is wonderful!!! My RE and OB are recommending the flu shot during all Trimesters especially the first and to get the Swine flu one in october here in the US couldn't remember where you are as well since that can affects pregnant ladies, but check with your RE.

Gigi--I did google fluid in the uterus and found a couple of things, most likely it is excess blood I didn't have my usual periods due to all the meds and it can certainly be that and they can drain it or it will reasorb. It can also be from a blocked tube, and then fluid builds up into the uterus but my tubes are patent so unless they just got blocked likely not from that. Other reasons is a burst cyst or a cystic fibroid. So I will just wait, they cut back on my estrogen because sometimes that can make it worse:-) I think it will be okay:-)

Summer--My schedule is really different, my RE will not start the donor until my Uterus is ready to go, just cause if I am slower it screws up the donor. So my next scan is Sept 15 and if my Uterus is ready to go then they will start donor then, so she takes 7-12 days to stem then they do blastocysts so 5 days after retrevial then comes me--I am guessing about the 1st week in Oct. for me for my transfer. I can bearly keep it straight and it is happening to me:-)

Hope everyone else is doing good, it is a little chilly here some I am going to make some hot chocolate with extra marshmellows yum!

Congrats Kim!

Stef - glad to hear there was a strong heartbeat. Yippee!!

Poohgirl - hope all the worries with the fluid subsides :?

Sorry I can't do more personals I started back at work and with this site taking a long time to load I just don't have the time to post. I'll try for more personals tonight.

I go in for my next scan tomorrow morning ... it will be my last scan before I am transferred to my OB and then transferred again to a specialist.

Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Gigi - My past ivf cycles have always been 14 days from day 1 of cycle to epu. They try to mimic your natural cycle. Although it might be a bit different in Australia????
Shame that your DH has to leave your vacation early. Why does your DH have to give his sample before epu? In Aust the sperm is provided on the same day as epu and they fertilize the eggs the same day.

Poohgirl - Good to hear that the fluid is nothing to worry about. I hope the time till your transfer goes quickly for you.

Hopeful - Looking forward to hearing about your scan!

Is anyone in this group doing known donation??

1st Beta Test today was a whopping 194!! IVF Coordinator told me I had at least two. :D But DH is still in shock. I go back Tuesday morning for my next Beta. I'm just now settling down a bit. I love it.

Gigi, my RE gets DH sample the same day as DE are retrieved. Fertilized same day.

Poohgirl, glad to hear the fluid is nothing to worry about. I was really shocked to hear that your DRs are recommending the flu shot while pregnant. I thought that was really risky.

Stef, you have got to get some R & R. Sounds like you are on edge. Did the results from the last P4 make you feel better?

JDC, Good luck with the u/s Tuesday. I know what you mean by the migraine. I had one in right side that lasted 3 days. Finally called RE yesterday and told me to drink at least one glass of caffiene. It worked. Since last week I have given up my large coffee consumption each morning, guess I should have done it slowly. They said the hormone spikes can trigger one as well.

Summer, just 6 weeks - hope it passes by quickly and comfortably. Are you still working?

To all the rest - best of luck!

gigi - sometimes the best laid plans can go astray -- Try your best to go with the flow for this cycle and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised with a BFP in a few weeks! Do hope the MRI for your son goes well, so you can go into your transfer with less on your mind.
Here in Germany, they keep you in the hospital for a week after a c-section!

stef - just wonderful that you've seen that little heart beating! It is true, the worry and uncertainty about whether this has really, really worked or not, especially in the beginning, is always there, but do your best not to obsess over it and let in fall into the background. Your body doesn't need that added stress right now, it has enough going on to nourish your growing little bean. Try to relax, get rest and eat well - that is where your focus needs to be right now. Believe it, it worked!!! Sending you some PMA!!!

Kim - congrats on the great beta! I am sure you will have a wonderful weekend where you and DH won't be able to stop smiling -- enjoy!! You've had a long journey to get to this point and I'm really so happy for you.
No, I'm not working right now. My company closes in the summer, and then my maternity leave starts.. I just have to decide in the next 2 weeks how much time I want to take off and I'm having a hard time making any decisions right now!

poohgirl -- hope all is going well with your cycle and that your lining is building up nicely! In just a few weeks you'll have your long awaited transfer!! Hooray!!

Regarding the swine flu shot -- at least here, they are recommending it for pregnant women, because apparently if you actually get the swine flu while pregnant, it can be very dangerous for you and your baby. I have no idea what I will do -- get it, or not..can't decide...LOL...

JDC - good luck with your u/s on Tuesday!! For headaches, my doctor only recommended drinking more water -- But Kim has a good point with the caffeine and hormone spikes!!

Hopeful - hope your scan went well! Looking forward to your update!

Pauline - enjoy the rest of your holiday and good luck with your appointment in Prague!!

Clemo - We did decide not to find out the gender. But the other day the covering doctor that I saw said that from the heartbeat read out, she would guess it was a girl -- She asked if we wanted to know for sure and after talking to DH (who really wanted it to be a surprise till the end) - he decided that now he wants to know..So, when I went back in for another HB scan, she did a quick u/s -- but the baby had its legs crossed, so the secret is still safe....
By the way, JDC also knows her donor --

Hi to all the egg-heads and have a great weekend!

Wow Summer, an entire week in the hospital after a c-section ... that will help you heal and feel more comfortable when you do go home to take care of baby. I admire you for not finding out the sex, I'm ready to know now

Babyblue - CONGRATS ON THE GREAT BETA!!! I'm so happy for you.

Clemo welcome back from your trip!

Poohgirl - Sounds like you aren't letting the fluid stress you out, good for you ... Keep that PMA up!

Gigi - that is a bummer your DH has to drive back from vacation, but it is for a good cause! Good luck with your son's MRI, keep us posted on how he is doing.

JDC - I had some headaches at the beginning and I thought they were from the hormones. Now when I get them I realize I haven't drank enough water :?

Stef - Isn't it awesome to hear the heartbeat?! How was your progesterone level? I completely understand how hard it is to simply relax. I was worried until we heard the heartbeats and then got stressed about hearing 3. Relaxing is easier said than done sometimes.

Kim, Carolyn, Chriss, Sabi, Chris, and anybody else I may have missed I hope you are all doing well!

AFM, we had our last scan today at the clinic. We are now back to twins, as one of the identical twins stopped growing and there wasn't a heartbeat. While we were sad the doctor assured us it gives us a much better chance of carrying them to term and for them to be healthy. The heartbeats were very strong. He didn't give us the numbers, but he let us hear them. It was sad to graduate from the clinic to my OB, the staff has been so caring. They gave us a certificate, it was really nice. Next appointment is for the 14th, a little over a week. I won't be referred to the specialist with twins, but I'm going to try for appointments every two weeks. Hmmm, we'll see if it works.

Hopeful, I am sorry to hear about your little twin. Even though twins have much better odds than trips it is still sad. Hopefully you like your OB.

AFM, I know I need to relax and not stress over everything. I admire all of you that with your losses and disappointments you still have PMA. I don't feel as if I am stressing too much just more detached until I get further along. My prog level came back >40 this last week, so that is good and a relief. I would like to drop my dose of prog a little so that I am not so tired all the time. I go back in on Sept 15 for my 1st OB appt & U/S so I will check with her then.

I hope you are all doing well and having a great Labor Day Weekend.

eggs

Post by gigi »

okay...a little disappointed our donor only produced 10 eggs, 8 were viable and only 5 fertilized. These seems low to me since I did that 3 years ago on my own...Unfortunately I have miscarried the last 2 years with my own eggs and even made it to getting heartbeats so maybe her eggs are healthier. I was hoping for 6 to 8 fertilized eggs but hopefully this will work. Will know quality on Wed. for transfer....

Hopeful: I'm sorry for your loss of the one embie. Not sure how you are feeling with it.

poohgirl: not too long for you.

kim: glad the caffeine helped your headaches. congrats on the bfp.

hope all the rest of you are well. couldn't read all of the posts. getting ready for son's MRI.

Gigi,
5 eggs is good!! You only really need one & you have some back up. Be positive & trust me- you won't have to worry about what to do w/all the left over embryos. I'm excited for you girl! Really great news! Thursday for transfer maybe???? Oh, best news. I'm pulling for you.
Pooh- pretty soon for you. Seems like forever huh? The waiting game sucks. But look, you are right around the corner. Party it up now.
I'm so sorry about limited personals. Working so hard & extremely exhausted. I need some help for around my house. I've got to get a cleaning lady. I cannot keep up this pace. I don't know if I'm coming or going. School is hectic right now & the kids are testing me. Joined a mothers of multiples group last week. Had to force myself out the door to even go. Thought I wouldn't make the drive back. Been sick in the evening if I eat too late or even a little too much. throwing up. Watching my portions. Gained way to much weight this past month- thing is I have not been over-indulging. Starting walking again & got to get this fat but to the gym. I'm so happy for you JDC & all the BFP's. Glad to hear all is well. Take care & be good to yourselves!

Much Love,

Kim - Great beta babe. You must be so happy!!!! Good luck with your 1st scan.

Summer - I love the idea of having the bubs gender as a secret. So so special..Your bub must have wanted it to stay a secret since he/she was crossing legs. Not long till you find out..
It's hard to know how much time to take off - I always assumed I'd take 12 months, but I guess it depends on how we cope with one wage.

Hopeful - I'm sorry to hear your news. Sending you lots of cyber hugs. I hope now your twins will be strong, healthy, big bubs.

Stef - Good to hear you're going along well. Sorry about the tiredness but I guess it'll all be worth it in the end. 1 wk till your next u/s...how exciting.

Gigi - I'm sorry to hear you didn't get as many eggs as you wanted. We always want more than we get dont we? As you say, lets hope her eggs are super healthy and this will bring you your miracle.
Thinking about you and your son.....hope the MRI gave the all clear.

Sabi - Sorry to hear you're exhausted. Hope things get better for you and soonas you get walking again you'll feel better. Exercise is the best medicine!

AFM - I've come down with a nasty cold since we got back from QLD. Poor me! I'm a snot monster!!!! With a horrible cough. I've been dosing up on garlic and drinking hot lemon and honey water. Hope it goes soon, I'm over it!

Ok ladies, I'm only 8 wks 2 days and I've definitely gained weight! I can barely button my pants! As I was getting ready for our first day of school tomorrow I tried on the outfit I bought over a month ago and you can tell I've gained weight ... my DH agreed. I've heard that being small framed and pregnant with twins I'd show sooner, but my pants fit a week ago ... I'm not sure how I'm suppose to hide this for another 4 weeks! I'm not sure I can hide it for 2 weeks ... I don't want to jinx it with people finding out.

Sorry I didn't do personals, I just needed to get this off my chest!
