Congratulations chriss on your two healthy boys! How exciting! Guess you can really start thinking about the nursery and some names, and the realization that this is really real....So thrilled for you and DH!! By the way, what is your sister having? Isn't she due just a few months before you?

We tried again on Friday to get a peek at what we are having -- but no luck! Guess the secret will be safe either till the baby turns at some point or is born...hey, we've waited this long, I'm really fine with waiting a bit longer...

To carolyn and sabi and anyone else reading, enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope you are all feeling fine.

Hope you are still enjoying a bit of summer weather! Here it has barely reached 50 today -- Hoping for another warm spell next week!

xx summer

Hey Summer,
How are you feeling? Hope you feel great! Can you believe we are actually at this point? I think back sometimes... what a long road.

The weather has been cooler but I'm sure a warm spell will hit right when I start work again:) Hope you get some warm weather as well.

We are going up to a party this afternoon, then my husband has a gig at the beach tomorrow and Monday we are going to pick out crib bedding. Now that we know it's two boys, we can narrow down our choices.

What are your weekend plans? Are you able to get around much or is it easier to relax at home these days? How are those maternity clothes working out?

Thinking of you and Carolyn & Sabi too.
XOXO

Hi Summer, Chriss, Carolyn,
was out of town all weekend & trying to catch up w/school. My time seems not my own right now. & is it ever flying 14 weeks today. I'm glad to hear all is well. Summer, what a riot that the baby is playing hide and seek with their "privates" haha!! Miss you all very much & think of you all the time.
Still unpacking & absolutely exhausted. Was trying to keep up w/the party animals all weekend.

hey carolyn, happy to hear you've got more energy right now. I can only advise you to TAKE ADVANTAGE! :D I can only say that I am really tired again -- partly because it is so hard to sleep through the night these days -- So get stuff done while you can!!

chriss - hope you guys are having fun getting your nursery together. It is really a magical time!

sabi - welcome home!!

I saw my regular ob/gyn yesterday who said she has known for some time what we are having, and just because DH suddenly wants to know, (he's wanted to keep it a secret from the beginning and I went along..)she won't give in and tell him -- He just has to live with the suspense and will find out soon enough in a few short weeks!
I think we pretty much have all the basics covered. Next week, I have an appt. with a midwife at the hospital to fill out all my paperwork and learn a bit more about how things will go at the hospital and once we are home. Here insurance covers 10 visits by a midwife - either in the hospital to help you out, or once you are home.

Take good care everyone!

Hey Summer,
Can't believe DH wants to know now!!! I can't blame him. How are you feeling about it? Are you going to bribe your OB to tell you???

October will be here in no time! Can't beleive it!! You are almost there. Awesome!!!

We went out with inlaws and picked out our crib bedding... so cute!!! We have the crib mattresses and some other odds & ends. We will be ordering the furniture next week. Still need to paint. I like your advice about getting things dome ahead. I agree!!! I want to have it ready long before I get bigger and tired again.

Back at school today... it was hard after all this nice time off. I'll manage. Everyone was super-nice to me at school today. It felt good.

Thinking of you girls, as always:)

Hi chriss - just saw your post and had to respond -- I am sure you walked into school yesterday with a new feeling and bounce in your step and I am so happy for you. I know how many times you went back to work after a failed tmt, feeling bloated from all the meds and having people ask if you were "finally" pregnant -- and what a feeling that must have been.
Now you've got a real baby bump to show off and two little ones growing and developing inside of you. I couldn't be more thrilled for you and DH!
I am sure you are going to start feeling little flutters and kicks soon. Enjoy!

Have fun getting things ready for the babies! We just bought our stroller yesterday. Went with something more neutral, as we know our doctor really wants to keep us in suspense! I would still like to know, as we really haven't landed on a girls name yet - in case we need one!...But, I've gone this long not knowing, I'm also fine with waiting a few more weeks.

Take good care! xx summer

Summer,

What kind of stroller did you settle on?

You made it this far, you might as well wait to find out if it's a boy or girl. It won't be long now!!!!

Yes, school is so much better now and everyone seems genuinely happy for me. I still can't beleive it!!!

Have been having some major gas pains & pressure. I thought it was braxton hicks. I went in to OB and she checked me out. Cervix is in tact, yeah!!! She suggested some gas relief medication. So I am trying that. I must admit I was kind of scared, not knowing what was going on. THey also did a test for UTI. I feel better about it now. Better safe than sorry.

How are you doing??? Feeling large??? Feeling good???

Hi chriss -

good that you went to get your pains and pressure checked out. Like you said, better safe than sorry! I try my best to drink a lot and eat fiber rich foods everyday, but it doesn't always work. I also find magnesium to help and more exercise. But as the babies get bigger, problems like gas and pressure are bound to present themselves, no matter what you try to do -- it is a matter of space, or lack thereof!
I think the BH contractions feel more like your stomach gets really hard for a few seconds/minutes and then relaxes again. I'm not even sure if I have experienced them or not. Apparently, not everyone does...?

I must say, I have had a pretty pleasant pregnancy. Things are getting a bit uncomfortable right now. I feel like my belly is growing every day! I really don't want to buy anything new for myself with only 5 weeks to go. Sleeping is also more difficult. I seem to always be up between 4 and 6:30. It doesn't really matter what time I go to sleep either! And lastly, I've had swollen ankles and as ugly as they are, I am thankful for the compression thigh high stockings I have. They really work! My doctor gave me a prescription for them, so they didn't cost anything. But in all, I really can't complain! I really do feel good and my to do list shrinks every day!

I went to a breastfeeding class last night that was really informative. Here at the hospital, the midwives really do take good care of you and really stress natural methods for taking care of problems or concerns.

We went with a Hartan stroller. I don't even know if they sell that brand in the US. It is a German brand. We had seen a really nice Teutonia one, but it was really only for a girl and we had to pass...

Continue to enjoy your pregnancy!

Hey all,

Summer, I want to go to the breastfeeding classes too. It is still all a very big mystery to me. Glad you are having a smooth pregnancy:)

I continued to feel that pressure I was talking about & called OB yesterday. Office was closed so I went to the hospital to see the doctor on call. They hooked me up to some machine and yes in deed, I've been having contractions!!! OH NO!!!

Turns out that my cervix is closed so the contractions are not labor causing. Apparently they are more common with twins. Many women with singletons don't feel them during first pregnancy but often feel them in subsequent pregnancies.

So now a new thing to worry about. It means more doctor visits and careful monitoring. I spent the past few years worrying so much about getting pregnant, now that I am here, I have new worries.

I want to keep these little babies inside as long as possible. I am trying to relax about it. Wondering how much longer I will work. Walking around seems to sometimes bring them on. It is so scary when they call me a high risk pregnancy. OK, time to breathe.

Sorry to babble all about me today girls. Just feeling nervous and needing your support. Thinking of you all.

Chriss,
Hang in there. What helps prevent them? What do the docs want you to do?
I swear, if it's not one thing it's another. You're tough & everything is going to be alright. Think positive.

In my thoughts,

chriss - so glad you went ahead and had yourself checked out at the hospital. You absolutely did the right thing!
Sorry to hear what you are feeling are really contractions. Glad all is still closed up. Did they give you any ideas about what to do when you start feeling them?...like sit down or lie down or just to do less in general?

I know, being called "high risk" is a worrisome thing. I am also in that category. But, on the other hand, you are watched more carefully and that isn't such a bad thing. It might eventually help keep the extra worrying at bay. The extra appointments keep you busy -- but they are for a good cause.

Has your doctor talked to you about when you should start taking birthing classes? We have both birthing classes and something called "Becoming parents school" -- Enjoy taking the classes and meeting other new parents when the time comes!

I wish you all the best and take good care of those boys!! Seems like they are already testing you!

Carolyn - glad you have heard the heartbeats again! Not too long now till your next scan. Hope the time goes by quickly. It is fun to start looking around at baby things. I also waited till about week 20 to start buying things -- but I could have just trusted that all was going well and started sooner...We have really everything we need to get started. My mom has sent us lots of clothes, as I found it hard to find neutral things here...But, soon enough we will know who has been kicking away inside...The bedding we have and how we have decorated could go either way --

Sabi - how are you feeling? Getting your energy back? How often do you go for appts/scans? Hope all is well!!

I'm going to see a midwife at the hospital on Tuesday and will fill out all my paperwork for getting admitted and figure out how everything works there. I've even started packing my hospital bag. We don't need anything for the baby, the hospital supplies absolutely everything -- only something to wear home, which DH will bring. We are getting very excited, and also admittedly a bit nervous!! Glad my mother will be arriving soon.

Take good care everyone,
xx summer

Hey all,

Summer, good luck with the paperwork on Tuesday:) Did you pick out an outfit to take your baby home from the hospital in? You are sooooo close.

Carolyn, glad you heard those healthy heartbeats! Have you decided how to decorate the nursery? Are you waiting to find out the sex of the babies? I can't remember what you decided.

Hey Sabi, how's school going? Hope you are taking it a little easy.

AFM... Drove to work this morning, walked in the door and walked right back out 10 minutes later... more contractions... non-stop. Went straight to doctor. Turns out those contractions might me causing my cervix to open a little on the inside. So NO MORE WORK FOR ME. I am home on the couch right now. They will be monitoring me closely and tell me there are things they can do if cervix doesn't chill out. I am nervous girls. This is too early!!! Up until now, this pregnancy was a breeze. Suddenly I hit the 20 week mark and whamo... contraction city. Scared.

Thinking of you,
Chris
