progesterone in oil shot nightmare

Post by pinky1 »

hello everybody
i just had a day 3 transfer on friday 11th,and i've been on bedrest until monday.i was doing the poi shots to myself, to the spot circled by my nurse but 3 hours after the shot i started to have chills, fever that lasted 2 hours and i tought it is ok,it will go away.by monday morning it was so unbearable that i was not able to move at all,i called the office and they switched me to the supposotories instead but sadley enough, the damage is done,no matter waht i do,my butt is sore, numb and i cant sit down because if i sit i can not stand up,if i stand up i can not sit because it will hurt again.i can only sleep on my belly at night.it has been 3 days since my last shot but i see no improvements to tell you guys the truth.yes i do hot compress, indeed i bought today thermacare that gives 8 hours of heat and i try to massage the area but it really hurts bad. there is no visible bruise at all and i feel half peanut size lumb inside(just one lumb)finally i went to the office today and the doctor told me there is internal bruising and it would take like a week. at this point,i do not feel no side efffcetd or no anxiety of wait period because of my horrible discomfort.i've been taking tylenol with some help and today doc gave me vicodin which so far i took only one.i wanna wait on that until i get really bad pain especially at night. my question is,did anybody had similar symptoms to mine? also giving the shots to my self never really hurt it is after effect that made me like that.i gave it very quick(which i am not supposed to do i just found out...and for the 2 last days i was unable to walk to prepare the hot pad for afterwards and ice for prior the shot so it made the result even worse...) any guess on how long this would last?
thank you very much
and good luck on your journeys...

Hey,

sorry you`re suffering so much.

I had lots of bruises as well as pain but I`m not sure if it was the same pain like yours.

Anyways I was told by my nurse to rub some vitamin c.I did and it helped...

Good luck!

Natasha.

Pinky, I had the same thing. Only that my DH gives me my shots. I went through three different oils until I found one that I didn't react to so badly. I am now using olive oil and progesterone. I forgot what the other two were since we have been doing this over a 4 year period. I am now 6 wks preg and have to continue these blasted things until week 8. The olive oil still gives me some grief if we don't do the shots just right. My DH was at first pointing the needle downward to prevent leaks, but noticed when my sister gave me one it was much better and she went straight in. I had to give myself one two days ago and it was horrible. I had to have shots in the other side for the following two days. When I was using the other oils I would get hard lumps under the skin at the injection site but also red and sometimes purplish areas that were feverish and raised the size of a softball. I have found over the last 4 cycles that the best routine for me is as soon as DH pulls the needle out I use a tissue and with my palm massage the injection for a minute. Then follow with a warm wash cloth (my nurse said not to use a heating pad). About an hour or so after shot I get two ice packs out of freezer wrap in wash cloths and stick them on my hips (ususally stuck down in my shorts or jogging pants). I have acually went to sleep with them on there. Much better the next day. Some times I just put the ice on anytime - it makes them feel much better. I will try and look for my old med orders and see if I can find out what oils I reacted to so badly. By the way, nurse told me not to put warm or hot on injection site before the shot - it makes you bleed more.

Hope you get to feeling better,
Kim
