new 42 and worried

Post by macaroni »

:D
Hi Girls

Im new here - looks a great message board - hoping to get to know you all better and share our experiences

Im 42 - will be starting IVF beg July - Have 3 teenagers concieved natuarally
Recently remarried and would love a baby with my new husband - had tubes clipped 14 years ago , no possibility of reversal so thats why we are trying IVF

Have an FSH reading of 6.9 which is pretty good - Im a very positive person and believe that a lot of success in this area is due to "luck" "destiny" "faith" or whatever you believe and try not to take too much notice of statistics
However on another message board I have been reading a lot about the fact that women of my age rarely if ever succeed with IVF
Has any one of 42,43, been sucessful or know anyone who has?
Looking forward to your views on this
thanks

There are women of your age and older who have succeeded on these boards and others........ some of them without any history of having children. Welocome and good luck - you have a low FSH which is very important as you know - so your age won;t count for 42 in this case and you have a history. Apart from clipped tubes there should be nothing wrong so your chances are good. You are right about fate etc.

Good luck
Love
Tracey

Thanks Tracey
Congratulations on your pg! Twins well done! I really hope all goes well with you this time
I feel a bit guilty wanting another baby when I already have children but then if I had known what a s**t my first husband was to turn out to be I would never have even considered the sterilization all that time ago
and I definately wouldnt have had it if Id known I was to meet and marry the man of my dreams at 40!
Both me and my DH have had difficult lives, awful past relationships and are amazed that we have met and found such happiness at our age - a baby would be the icing on the cake - we feel we will always regret it if we dont try -so here i am! I have every reason to believe this will work- my consultant said I have the FSH reading of a 28 year old! wish the rest of me matched!!!
take care of yourself
love julie

Hi Julie

Welcome to the site - you will love all the support and help from all the girls on here. It gets a bit silly at times - mentioning no names, you all know who you are :P but it all helps with the whole IVF process as it can get a bit frustrating at times and having a laugh with people going through it too helps.

Don't feel guilty about wanting another chance of happiness with another baby as you are with the man of your dreams and we all deserve that chance. It is all down to luck or fate and bloody good timing

There are some women on here who are in their 40's and so you are not alone. I know someone who had IVF twins at the tender age of 47  so it can happen. Be positive.

Wishing you lots of luck.

Love Dagny xkx

Hi Julie,

I just wanted to add my twopennyworth - using that term alone probably dates me as a 60s throwback! I had my first round of IVF 18m ago when I was 'only' 38.5, having had my tubes tied 11 years before and never having been pg. Despite all that, we were successful and now have a bouncing 11m old daughter. Like you, I was in a new, very different relationship and wanted a baby for similar reasons to your own.

I know there are several postees in their early 40s currently waiting for their babies to be born, so take comfort, it CAN and DOES happen!

Good luck,
love Debra.

hihi julie, im one of those women who debras has kindly described me
as early 40's !!!!! I was like you, it took me till my late 30's to find
my perfect partner, it wasnt until our 4th attempt that we got our +itve
and at the age of 43, (18wks at mom) so yes it can happen, and with
your positive attitude along with a good FSH level, it is a good basis
to start.
Let us know how u are getting on.
