Does your insurance pay for 48hour results with CVS testing?

Post by tortillachip »

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has had the CVS testing done and if so, did your insurance pay for the 48 hour results called FISH? I have Blue Shield of California PPO and the agents at the insurance are giving me the run around and are not helping AT ALL!

Hi Tortilla,

I don't have an answer but just want to say thanks for asking this question, as it may come up for me too! I know, it is so hard dealing with insurance on this stuff and not knowing what is going on.

Tortilla: I have Federal Blue Cross and it pays for the FSH results. You should have the folks at Cedars call your insurance to see if it covers it. Will let you know how mine goes tomorrow. So nervous!

FSH test

Post by rali »

Hi tortilla, I had a CVS done with my first pregnancy and the Dr told us that we could get the results back within three days. He personally called my insurance company and stated that there was a medical necessity to get quicker results and my insurance paid no problem. I have private insurance through my township, not a large insurance company, but they usually do pay for everything (including IVF, Thank goodness). There was a big scare with my son when I was 10 weeks after a dreadful nuchal test gave us horribly wrong results. Then the blood test made it sound even worse, so my Dr wanted it done ASAP. The results were back in three days as promised and my son was PERFECT. Will never do nuchal test again, have seen too many women go through undue heartache, including myself, due to false test results. The FSH results mind you, are not ALL of the chromosomes they test for, but I believe it was the top 3 or 5 most common. Check with your Dr on that. I did ask how much it would cost if they didn't pay and I think they said around $250...which I would have paid triple to have those results sooner. If you want you can PM me if you want to talk about it more. GOOD LUCK DEAR!!
