I had a FET on 9/12 with 2 great looking blasts. I have had great beta levels and got my first positive HPT at 5dp5dt. My betas were...

I went in for a transvaginal u/s at 5 weeks and 2 days but the tech didn't see a gestational sac. Is it still possible for it to appear? Did I go in for my u/s too early? The office told me 5 weeks and 2 days is the earliest I could go in. I have been reading that a gestational sac should be seen at 4 weeks. Could it be 'hiding'? The RE isn't concerned about ectopic since my levels are rising nicely and I haven't had any symptoms of ectopic. I am scheduled for another u/s next week when I am supposed to be 6 weeks and 2 days along. With my HCG levels the doc was actually surprised that we didn't see 2 gestational sacs.

Thanks for your time!!!
They probably just missed it on the scan. At this point they are sometimes missed.
Your hCG sure does not look like an ectopic.

Do you really think that the tech just missed it? I had an u/s at 5 weeks exactly with my son b/c of bleeding and we saw his gestational sac immediately. With my levels they surely should have been able to see something. I'm really confused. With my HCG levels is it possible that I had a late implanter? How long can a blast float around before it attaches? I knew we weren't going to see much more than the gestational sac but I thought for sure we would at least see that.

Embryos start to implant 6-7 days after fertilization. It takes a few days to complete, but they don't move around during that time.
It's not common to miss it, but it happens sometimes. The alternatives are that it miscarried just before the ultrasound (you did not mention any bleeding), or that it's elsewhere. Ectopics are associated with abnormal hCG curves, but yours looks perfectly normal. My guess is that they just missed it.

Thanks! I have not had any bleeding or cramping or any symptoms associate with a miscarriage or ectopic. I really hope they just missed it. I was told the u/s would take a half hour but the tech was done in probably less than 5 minutes. Thanks again for your input!
Hi Wolffie,
My case is not the same but maybe similar, I went to have an ultrasound at 5w1d, we perfectly saw 1 gestational sac and fetal pole, then in my next ultrasound at 7 weeks we saw two sacs and 2 heartbeats (I had transfered 2 embryos so my dr did look around on first ultrasound for #2 but nothing at all), I am not an expert but your betas look fantastic so I would expect to see something on next ultrasound... wish you luck!!!
Ana - THANK YOU so much for your reply! It definitely gives me hope!!! I have to be honest, I am hoping that at the next u/s we see two beautiful sacs. (obviously I would also be very happy with one). At your second u/s did the two sacs measure the same dates? I just really don't understand why we didn't see anything. We did a FET so I'm wondering if maybe my little embies took longer to hatch out of their shells.
Thank you again for your post! I now have new found PMA!!!
