Just wondering if anyone’s keeping kick counts? I’ve read it mentioned in several books I have on hand and it sounds like a good idea, but my doc hasn’t requested it so I haven’t started yet. There’s a part of me which feels nervous about monitoring so closely.

Thanks for the informative response. So glad everything’s going well for you. With all those extra scans, I can’t believe you’re still able to hold out about finding out the gender.

I know you’re right about the housing situation. The baby certainly won’t care where we are – after all her field of vision is only 8-12”, but I think it’d be easier on us to move now before we have an infant to take care of. We have an offer in and expect to hear 9/10. If that one goes our way, I think we’ll be able to move just in time. If not, I’ll start setting up where we are now. In retrospect, we should have started sooner. But, honestly, we didn’t want to spend the money on s down payment in case we needed it for another round of IVF.

Hope you enjoy the birthing class. We did learn lots. Our last class was on baby care – baths etc. It was cute because DH really liked that one and even volunteered to take care of all the umbilical cord cleaning duties.

Hi siouxsie,
got my fingers crossed that 9/10 will be your lucky day - and can finally cross finding a house off your to-do list! :D Do you pretty much have everything you need so far for the baby? We are getting things step by step.

For my swollen ankles, my doctor gave me a prescription for thrombosis stockings and they really seem to help. I was able to get them in black, so they (kind of) look like leggings or just tights -- Luckily, it has cooled down here a bit, so they aren't too, too warm...

When I was at the doctor on Monday for the HB check, she said from the HB, she would guess we were having a girl. My regular ob/gyn is out of town this week, so this was the covering doctor, who hadn't seen me since she checked my lining way back in January -- When I told DH what she had said, he just got a really big smile on his face about the idea of having a little girl, and said that if I wanted to find out what we were having, I could -- So today, I was there again and the same doctor asked me if we should do a quick scan to see if we could see anything --- so we did and of course, the baby is breech with its legs crossed ...So, the secret is still safe...I go back again (!!!) on Friday and we'll try again...

I also haven't been told to do any kick counts. But when I feel the baby start to kick, I do keep track -- Some days, s/he is more active than others, but I've also read that that is to be expected.

It really made me smile to read about your DH volunteering for cord cleaning duty. It is so nice to see them getting so excited. Does your hospital have "rooming in"? Will DH stay with you in the room as well after the baby arrives? They also have these family rooms with double beds so DH can also stay with you at our hospital...

When will you stop working? Will you be able to take some time off after the baby arrives?
Hope you are a safe distance from the fires. Thinking of you.

Hope all is well with all the October moms!

Hi Ladies. We are really getting close and the board has been quiet. Is everyone getting their nursery ready. We finallly finished ours. We did a sea theme since we are waiting to find out the sex. I posted pics on my blog if anyone wants to see..... dannerandsawyer.blogspot.com

I had my peri appt this week. Baby weighs 5 lbs. Still big. Last check it was inthe 80th percentile and this time it was 74 percentile. My cervix was still good, but I had low fluid. Kinda scary since my last pregnancy had to deliver at 34 weeks due to low fluid. I go again at 34 weeks to check again. Hope I can at least make it 3 more weeks to get to 36 weeks before delivering. Other than that I feel great. No swelling which is kind of surprising since it is so miserably hot here.

Has every one started going every 2 weeks to the ob?

When I went in for my appointment last week, the doctor discovered that the baby’s torso is measuring small. At 33 weeks, it only measured about 29 weeks. The head and legs are appropriate size. She diagnosed Intrauterine Growth Restriction. I had a non-stress test, which came out fine, and another on Saturday, also fine. I’ll probably have this monitoring once or twice a week for the duration. She said not to worry as long as the non-stress tests come out all right. I’m also now doing kick counts so I had my question above answered. I made the mistake of looking on the Internet and now I feel really worried. There doesn’t seem to be much treatment, only monitoring, and possibly early delivery if the monitoring turns out badly. I am trying to stay positive, but I feel like I have been whisked back to the worry and uncertainty of the early days. It feels like punishment for being too excited. Sorry for whining, but I need to let it out. I am trying to turn myself around.

Hope you’re all well, and those of you in the US enjoyed a restful labor day.

Hi twinmom,
your nursery looks really nice! I can't blame your son for wanting to move right in! What do your twins think you are having, a boy or a girl?

Got everything crossed for you that your baby gets to at least 36 weeks. Hope your 34 week appointment brings good news. Glad your doctors are keeping a watchful eye on you. On the good side, lucky you to have been spared the swollen ankles -- Thinking of you!

To siouxsie, I want to of course tell you not to worry about your last appointment, but I know that isn't possible. You can't help but think about it. Because of my GD, I also have those NSTs 2x/week -- every time I get worried that something isn't going to be okay, but am always relieved to hear that heartbeat and to hear the doctor say that everything is fine this time. I also worry that I will end up delivering early. But I think all these thoughts are normal at this point.
When will your doctor measure again? I think you just have to trust them, that everything really will be okay and try your best not to read too much on the internet. How much does your baby weigh right now? Is she already in the head down position?
Are you still working?

Hello ladies.

since this is almost the date I was suppose to give birth("Oct` 8th),I just wanted to see where everyone was these days?

I guess you ladies remember me from last winter and how I was worried, well it turned out to be for a reason even though I didnt know back then that I`ll end up like this:I had a blighted ovum...

So,now we`re seriously considering going for another FET but this time at a difference clinic.

Well,I do hope to hear better news from all of you here.

Take care,

Natasha.

So, we’ve had some adventures since I last posted. Turns out I am not an October Mom after all – I’m a September Mom!

Long story short:
Wednesday: Got put on bed rest for high blood pressure/protein in my urine
Friday: Had NST and sent straight to the hospital; Had amnio for lung maturity (at 35weeks, 2 days)
Saturday: Diagnosed w/ preclampsia; put on Magnesium IV; amnio results came back that lungs were mature; Docs decided to induce me
Sunday: Labored
Monday 9/21: Delivered at 5:04 p.m.; She is beautiful and tiny; born at 4lb, 6 oz; sent to NICU,
Tuesday: released from NICU at 7pm
Thursday: we’re both released from hospital

Tomorrow she’ll be two weeks old! It’s amazing and exhausting.

OUR BEST TO ALL OF YOU

Summerbaby

We named her Darby Lynn.

Darby is after a musician we like; according to the book it has Irish and Scandanvian roots, I prefer the later as it supposedly means “free”, also it’s the birthplace of her paternal greatgrandfather; Lynn is for my cousin who died a few years ago from cancer. We almost switched to Lita, but DH had started calling her Darby in utero, so it just felt right.

We had her two week check up this morning and all is well. I have been feeding constantly to get her weight up and its worked as she’s now at 5lb 4 oz.

It is all so amazing and still a bit unreal. One tip: fill your freezer. We wern't prepared since we thought we’d have another 5 weeks!

Did you find out the gender or is it still a mystery?

Hey all October Mommies,

How has everyone been doing? I am just barely getting on since I was in the Hospital since Aug 4th. Alot has happen and with deep sadness I must tell you all that on Sept 10th we delivered 3 of the most beautiful babies I have every seen. Our little boy was stillborn, we heard his heartbeat around 9:30 in the am for my daily am heartbeat check and by 12:15 he was gone, so we had to do an emergency c-section to deliver the girls. Baby A (our boy---Julian, was 3lb 15oz @ 1:38pm) Baby B, our first girl , Olivia Rose was 3lb 15oz, born at 1:39pm and our Baby C, our second girl, Sofia Luz was 4lb 10oz at 1:39 pm. I carried to 33 3/7 weeks and happy to say that both girls are home.

This has been a terrible but happy time for me. Thank you all for being there through out the pregnancy and I will keep in touch.

Congradulations to all that have had there babies, I will read the post and make them more personal next time I am on.

Barb

I was shocked and saddened to hear about your son. I can't imagine how difficult that must be for you. I am thrilled that your girls are healthy. (I love your names.) I hope you find happiness in your new family and with time the pain of your loss lessens. Peace.

Dear Barb,
It is with great joy and sadness that I read your post. My heart goes out to you and your family. I have thought about you so often during this time. I am sure your little girls, Olivia Rose and Sofia Luz will bring a great deal of happiness to your lives, while you take the time to grieve for your son, Julian. I am so happy to know that your girls are home with you and are doing well! They all have wonderful names, by the way! Wishing you strength and much happiness in the coming weeks and months. Marvel at the two little miracles you have before you.

Dear Siouxsie,
Sounds like you and Darby Lynn are doing well! A very lyrical name she has, indeed! At what week in your pregnancy was she born? Glad to read that she is gaining weight! So important at this stage!

To all the October moms, hope everyone is doing well!

Our Anna was born on October 7th via c-section, a little more than a week earlier than planned. Guess she wanted to choose her own birthday after all! She is doing well and we've been home about a week now. We think we are going to sell the TV, as all we seem to do is watch our miracle. :D
On the 5th, I went for a routine check-up and discovered (much like you, Siouxsie) that my BP was really high and I had gained 4 kilos in 3 days and was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and sent directly from the ob/gyn to the hospital. My BP kept going way up and way down and they decided it was too stressful for us both to wait any longer and she was born on the 7th via c-section.
She is a healthy and content baby and we are so grateful for our little miracle.
Been working hard to get her back up to her birth weight, which she reached again on Friday.
And, I agree about getting food ready and into the freezer! I expected to have another 10 days at home to take care of things like that as well!

Thanks to everyone for all the support, it has been quite a journey to get to this point and we are thrilled to have finally crossed the finish line.

xx summer
