ectopic pregnancy?? signs

Post by soljo »

This is my first time posting although have been reading here a lot.
I had ICSI treatment in August/Sept
ER 1st Sept
ET 4th Sept - transferred 2 embies

I am based in Ireland and they do not do Beta testing
So after 2ww did a HPT which was positive - hooray!

This might be TMI but I have had mild constipation which I have just put down to the vits I am taking containing too much iron. But I do have some pain when going
Also it is very uncomfortable when having sex - like an uncomfortable pressure - is this normal?
I am wondering if everything is in the right place
My scan is not until 6th of Oct but I am now so worried that my preg might be ectopic
any thoughts/ ideas?

Hi

I did have pain when going in the beginning which felt like a really bad bruise, then a lot of pain from trapped wind.
If you are worried call your clinic and talk to them. I like you did not have beta numbers. I called them a couple of times and they put my mind at rest. They said if the pain could be helped with paracetamol then nothing to worry about.

Take care

thanks angeinhull for the quick response!
Just think i'm going a little crazy sometimes and over analyse things
I heard there is a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy with ivf than normally - so of course I always think the worst
I will ring the nurse tomorrow :?

Congratulations! That is wonderful news. You are lucky to get a 12 week scan. Because we had a 8 week scan we do not get another til 20 weeks ahh!. Only the expanding waistline is giving me confidence.

I hope your symptoms are not too bad now.

thanks gi & ange
great to hear from you - being so close :)
it is strange how different clinics do things differently
i went to the sims clinic - tried to get an appointment at the HARI unit as a friend of mine went there a few years ago but the waiting list was so long - then I had to change the date of an appointment due to a family bereavement and that pushed the date out another few months.
was anxious to get started :) so looked elsewhere
whatever is meant to be .....
I get another scan on week 9 and then over to GP etc... for 12 weeks scan. I still have to take all my meds.. crinone/estofem/ aspirin as well as vits & folic acid until 12 weeks
I will be happy when I get to that stage!

Hope you both are doing good
Its hard to believe sometimes ... miracles happen ehhh

soljo, congrats on the twins!! I have to say that contispation was pretty horrible for me throughout this pregnancy :( . The worse being in the 2nd trimester and I've FINALLY gotten relief in the 3rd trimester. I haven't been able to have sex since I was about 12 wks for other complications but I do remember it feeling a little 'different' in the early weeks.

So, sounds like everything you are experiencing is normal .

hi soljo and gi! i've never post for a while since my ectopic preg, and i've been contemplating to have a second turn of ivf... i had the first one done in galway fertility clinic last march, all my embies died. and got pregnant naturally a month later, unfortunately it was ectopic.

im thinking of going somewhere else??? ( lister fertilty clinic ) in london???, as they have a very high success rate, though financially we struggle. what do you reckon of clinics in dublin, im in the nortwest by the way?

Kline Hi! sorry to hear of your ectopic i remember reading your story a little while back. The Hari unit were good but we were contemplating going to the Sims I think its in Drumcondra as we heard excellent reports from there but thankfully (fingers crossed) we wont need to go there!!
On the irish ivf website there is 2 girls considering the lister in London i hear they are very up to date. I agree with you on the finances part we have done 4 fresh and 2 frozen and most of our savings are going but believe me its worth every penny and tear shed, where theres a will theres a way. In my 4th failed cycle all my embies died too and they told me i would never get pregnant but 5th cycle BFP!! even though it ended in m/c it motivated us more to keep going. There is a positive outcome in all this for you and thats you can get pregnant and you will do it again its just a matter of when xxxx

soljo glad to hear you are still doing well, i am off all meds since week 8 but so far so good i will admit i still dont believe i am finally pregnant even though we saw the heartbeat, i am terrified of my 12 wk scan in case its gone!! Someday it will prob. hit me OMG i am pregnant

cymplicity - thanks for the congrats & for letting me know that what I'm feeling is 'normal' :)

kline - so sorry to hear about your ectopic preg.
Not sure if I can give any advice as I seem to be one of the lucky ones - ICSI worked first time. I went to the sims (Dundrum) and found it great (although I am biased now). They were very professional and ready to answer any qns. It may be more expensive than HARI (~€5,000) not sure .... but I was anxious to get started after a few postponed appointments with the HARI unit. Not their fault - I might add! but there seemed to be a v long waiting list.
I intended to go there as my friend did and has twins and another baby! (1st Failed ICSI/ Failed FET, Twins on 2nd ICSI, following year another baby with FET)

gi - you are lucky to be off the meds - i'm looking forward to that point!
its so exciting seeing the heartbeat - don't worry soon your belly will soon be the reminder
