First IUI tomorrow/I'm 41

For anyone out there I am just trying to get a sense of where I am at. I am 41 and presently going in for my first IUI tomorrow. I have been on the Gonal 450 pen and responded by making 2 follicles (not great I know). Has anyone in my age range w/2 Follicles gotten pregnant?????
Trying to stay hopeful but feeling a little nervous.

I am 42 and had an IUI on Wednesday, October 7th; still waiting to see the results.

How did everything go for you?

Yes I am new to the site... unfortunately I got my results on Tuesday and it was a BFN

I decided to change practices as I had a sort of unpleasant experience w/the nurse delivering our results...
I hope you have better results than I did.
I see you are from NJ, I grew up in Northern NJ...

So sorry for your BFN; hopefully it will happen for you the next time. Will you be doing IUI or IVF?

Were are you located? I have been going thru Jefferson in Philadelphia, PA; wonderful office. I do live in NJ, Hamilton Princeton area.

I should know something by Wednesday of this coming week, I am kind of expecting that it didn't work I really don't feel anything different and my chances are kind of slim. I only have one tube so chances are really slim.

I kind of have been through alot. I had 4 IUI’s (with clomid) and 4 IVF’s; in which I did get pregenant twice. I had my first miscarriage at 8 weeks and lost my twins (boy and girl) at 22 weeks on 3/7/09 due to Pre-Term labor at 19 weeks. I was in and out of hospitals for 3 weeks hoping to make it to 24 weeks where they can do something to keep them alive. They were each born about 12 hours apart and lived for about an hour each. They were beautiful baby’s.

I no longer have insurance for IVF so my doctor is tring IUI with fertility drugs to see how this works. So I guess we will see what happens to determine what is out next step.

We married late in life, me 38 my husband 45, he had a adopted son that he addopted from Romania, he is now 10 years old.

I grew up in Bergen County.... northwestern NJ. A friend of mine lives in Princeton Jct. so I am familiar with the area.
I will keep my fingers crossed that you will get good news on Wed. I am so sorry for all that you have been through. I could not even imagine.
I changed practices from a center here in CT. We are in Fairfield County.
As we started w/the lesser aggressive procedure (IUI) and as you know the results came back neg... well on the phone just after telling me the test results the nurse asks me if we have considered adoption or egg donor. I almost fell over as I thought how inconsiderate of her to throw that at me when we still have a ways to go with other options.
We have coverage for 4 rounds of IVF which is where we'll go next. I am meeting with Columbia Presb. and Cornell in the next few weeks.
There is no explanation to our problem other than waiting too long.
My FSH level was high so ??? I think I am simply battling age.
Hopefully we will have better results and consideration with the other centers I am going to.
Keep me posted for Wed. and like I said I'll cross my fingers for you.

Sometimes it just feels better rattling on the keyboard to someone you know "gets it".

I am probably going to wait until Friday to see if I get my period because I really don't think it worked; but ya never do know.

Both Columbia Presb. and Cornell are grate choices. My doctor said that age is a factor but we are still young enough to have children. I would strongly recommend you do Acupuncture. I had four IVF's that my insurance covered. My first IVF I had 7 eggs retrieved (3 fertilized, 2 As and 1B) the second IVF I had 6 eggs (4 fertilized 2 As and 2 Bs); I did get pregnant but lost the baby at 8 weeks. The third IVF I had 7 eggs retrieved (3 fertilized, 1 A and 2 Bs). My last and final IVF I was reading on the boards and everyone was talking about acupuncture. So I figured I would try it. I call and started going twice a week about a month and a half before the procedure. On my fourth and final IVF they retrieved 8 eggs (5 fertilized 4As and 1B) so they inserted all of them. I ended up with twins, it didn't work in my case but the babies were healthy.

You should really think about acupuncture it does really work. You just need to make sure that he/she specializes in infertility.

Hi there, thanks for the tip on acupuncture!! I will try to find someone in my area who has expertise in infertility. At this point I want to do all that's possible to up my chances. We also have 4 IVF's covered under our plan so I hope I'll be in better hands w/Col or Cornell. I think I am going to consult w/both and then go w/my gut on which practice feels best for us.
I appreciate the hopeful sentiment that I can still get a sufficient # of eggs to even be a viable candidate for IVF. We'll see??
You never do know... so keep positive(I am trying to do that for myself as well).

Well, it didn't work, so I had an appointment today, day 3 of the cycle they took blood and did an ultrasound. They should be calling me soon to let me know what the next step is if there is another step. Insurance my not even cover IUI since I already done IVFs. I will keep you posted.
