24 Hours of HELL

Post by Wibbs1 »

Hi all, when does the B****dy drama ever end?????

Went to see the consultant on Tuesday for my general 32 week apt, and when they measured me I was 32 weeks......!!!!! not a problem there you think..but as I have been measuring 2 weeks ahead at every appointment I thought I should query this?........So...................

They decided to send me off to the scan dept for a growth scan just incase, and the lady measured everything and all was well right size for 32 weeks 2 days ect all bits present ect........

THEN

A BIG BLACK MASS IN BABYS TUMMY
Whats that I say.................................Not knowing even what I was bloody looking at?

AHHHHH she said we need to refer you to another hospital for a detailed scan.............PANIC, so they arranged for us to go to KINGS Collage, the very next day which made me panic even more, they suspected our baby had POLYCYSTIC CYSTS on its kidney, as per the referal letter they give you to take, which we duly riped open when you get outside!!!!!!

Went home and did no more then look it up on the NET VERY VERY BAD MOVE..................it was all over our lovley baby was going to die within a month of being born......I sobbed all night and did not sleep.

So the next day came and with slug eyes we went off to Kings, after 1 1/2 hours of lying on the couch, and seeing 3 doctors they confirmed our baby does NOT have PC but has MUlticystic cysts, a different thing all together not fatel, but baby will only have function of one kidney, we may get lucky and get 10 % but not sure till after babys born.
But baby is well and growing fine nothing eles wrong they just treat with antibiotics to stop any infection when baby is born. They then scan baby every month to make sure the damaged kidney shrinks and disapears over time.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo huge relife from us, and we also got to see what it was, we are so happy to announce It's a BOY   weights about 4 10oz at the moment so a good size for a 32 weeker and has hair, althought pushed it a bit when I asked what color the hair was.

Anyway all ended well, but I still have a headache that I have has since tuesday, so we are off to Devon tomorrow for a well earned rest for a week I just wanted to let you all know whats been going on.

Sorry to bring more drama to this site after reading so much good news on the delivery front....well done to all thoes new Mummy & Daddys.

After reading this I did go on a bit sorry, but it's been a bit of a rollar coaster week..............hope you are all well and looking after yourselves, I will check in with you all after I get back.

Lots of Love
Wibbs

OMG! You'd think by 32 weeks the only drame to come would be the birth! So glad your little boy is ok and hopefully you can try and relax for a few days.

best wishes, helen

bl..dy hell what a shock. i'm really relieved it turned out to be better than they said first. i do wonder if they would have noticed something was not right if you hadn't pointed it out? scary or what...

i hope you have some energy to enjoy devon, or at least have some time to yourselves.

best wishes to you, dh and your baby boy.

Hi Wibbs

Like Tracey I don't think I breathed at all whilst reading your post and I read with so much speed feeling quite sick but thank God it wasn't as bad as first thought. My heart is racing as I write as reading what you must have gone through at Kings brought it all back when we were refered there when they found Katelyn's heart defect. The waiting is absolute HELL!!! Our eventual diagnosis wasn't what we had hoped for but yours turned out to be less problematic although you must have been churning up inside.

I am SO relieved for you and DH. You really do deserve your break in Devon (my Mum and Dad live there).

And of course...... a boy - how wonderful :D You can spend all your time in Devon thinking up names, or have you already chosen one???

No more drama's please - I can't cope  !!!!!!!

Take care

Love Dagny xkx

Hi Wibbs

Sorry to hear about your trauma, BUT dont worry, my nephew is a strapping year old next week and has the same thing!! They gave him antibiotics as you say and originally they did want to operate to take away the bad kidney, however as it was causing him no probs they decided to leave well alone. He is the most happy beaming baby and perfectly healthy.

What a time you sound like you've had :o Glad things turned out the way they have though - and a boy!! :D have you thought of names???

The weight is good too. Sam was 4lb 7 when he was born at 33 weeks and they said that was good, so you'll have a strapping lad :D :D

Take care
