Wellllllll Hellllllloooooooooooo

Post by Sarah30 »

:D :D :D

Where have I been for the last few months!! Sooooooooo busy.

There's so many new people on here, it makes me so happy to see how many others have managed to have success.

For those who don't know me, I've had 3 IVF's, sadly one singleton miscarriage and thankfully safely delivered twins on 23rd December this year. They're absolutely gorgeous and we're so thrilled with them. There's 16 weeks old tomorrow (Lucy born 7lb 6oz and Matthew born 6lb 7½oz). We went to 39 weeks and 2 days before I was induced and had a natural delivery with just a few internal stitches. They're the most precious little things and we wouldn't change them for anything in the world.

For all you twin mums to be out there (Tracey S WELL DONE AGAIN!) don't be worried or stressed about how you will cope, we're taking it all in our stride and the babies are so good we can't believe it. It's not half as hard as people would have you believe. By 4 weeks they were sleeping from there last feed (10pm) until 7am and at 11 weeks they dropped the 10pm feed and have been sleeping 7 till 7 ever since.

BUY THE CONTENTED LITTLE BABY BOOK - it's been brilliant for us, the routines are very structured and the babies seem to love it. They really are contented little babies and it has probably saved us so much hard work and lack of sleep. We even manage to keep on top of housework, washing, ironing etc.

Well what more can I say, we have to be one of the happies little families around, thanks to IVF.

Good luck to you all and if anyone wants any info about my experiences, just let me know.

Love Sarah x x x

Hi Sarah,
It's so nice to hear from you, it is indeed such an inspiration! I also had a single miscarriage but now I am 14 weeks pregnant with twins! Just told some people and everyone started comenting how hard work it is, which got me down a bit, so it is especially uplifting to read your mail and hear it is not as scary as people make it out to be. thanks for this and wish you more and more happy days with your wonderful family.

It is so lovely to hear from you and how wonderful you are all doing - I often think of you and am thrilled they are a joy (what else would they be after what you have been through!)

I have the book but next time you are on could you please answer a question? They only have a page or so on twins in the feed routine and that is around 6 weeks - what are you doing? Bottle, breast or both? and when do you feed - thought I would try and get at least a routine feeding - ie trying to get them in the day between 7 am onwards so they don't need as much in the wee hours - here is me in fluffy land
Carry on enjoying

Hi Tracey

Hope the pregnancy is going really well. I don't get much time these days to post, reply, read or anything else on here!

Just thought i'd reply about your feeding thing though.

I came home from hospital 1½ days after Lucy and Matthew were born and just went with the flow (what a disaster!!) I started off breastfeeding and for that first week (of going with the flow) I seemed to be feeding ALL THE TIME DAY AND NIGHT!!). At the end of the first week I got the book out. I read the twins bit but didn't fancy the thought of feeding separatey so I followed the routines as if I had one baby and just did everything together. There's enough time in the routines to do nappies, washing, dressing etc for two so it wasn't a problem. I tandem breastfed for two week but neither of the babes were very good at it and nipples were nearly falling off by the end of the second week (slight exaggeration there). At the end of two weeks I decided to stop breastfeeding and used a hospital grade electric dual breast pump to express milk for a further four weeks. After that first nightmare week, we never looked back. The routines in the book were excellent and we knew exactly what we were meant to be doing all of the time (not like the first week of sheer pandemonium). I would totally recommend following the book from the beginning. Finish reading it NOW read it again and keep to it hand every minute of the day until you know what's what. I really swear by it now, it's worked so well for us. We really do have two contented little babies. By the way, there 4 months now and we've started weaning!! They we're getting a bit desperate so the health visitor told us to start. It's such good fun, they really seem to love the baby rice (god knows why, it's gross!). They're giggling, cooing, very active - oh god i can't tell you how brilliant it is. I'm enjoying every minute of it and I'm sure you will do too. If every you want someone to talk to about twin stuff, don't hesitate to contact me. You can phone if you like, e-mail me I I'll give you my number. I met a twin women at the antenatal and it's been so nice having someone in the same situation to share stuff with, so really, I'd be glad to help if I can.

Well you take care girlie and keep growing those babies.

Lots of Love

Sarah,

I am also expecting twins and am very interested in purchasing the book you are talking about. I live in the U.S. and wondered if you could tell me the exact book name and the author of the book, incase I have to order it online.. Sounds like it has made a world of difference for you. It's so nice to hear someone say it's not all that difficult. Some people have scared me to death!! Hope to talk to you soon.

Thanks,
Annette

You are a gem - thank you so much for that - it is wonderful and just what I thought I would do - have already read it once and now going to read again and thought I would keep it with me or write down the times from the beginning - sad I know. HAve not bought a breast pump yet as was waiting and thinking the avent manual is all too much as need to express so much so was think of getting an electric one! I am so pleased for you. My email address is on my profile so if you want to drop me a line I can stay in touch. Am 24 weeks on Friday and carrying all up front - as I am tiny frame I look as if I am about to drop and people can't tell from behind at all. No stretch marks yet!
TAke care and I would love to see some piccies of the wee one - weaning already?
