Hi
Iam new to this forum. i started my first IVF cycle in october after 3year of ttc. The RE seemed very happy with all the ultrasounds and blood test during the process and 10/28/09 was my retrival day. they had 24 eggs retrived.I had bad cramps and pain for the whole day. RE advised not to drink water, tea or coffee as my ovaries were too big. Next day RE called me in the morning and said none of my eggs fertilized as they did not have enough strength however he said he was hope full with the last 5 and wants to wait for another 24 hrs to see if any would fertilize. Next day he calls me with the bad news as none fertilized and hence no transfer. He suggests to do another cycle or look for egg donar. I am completely devastated. Going through the same process 2nd time is making me go week in knees and using a donar is very expensive. I dont know what to do. this is very humiliating and frustrating.
I'm sorry your 1st IVF didn't have a better outcome... it seems like you overstimulated. I'm kind of surprised that your RE is already advising an egg donor instead of adjusting your meds ... it's not like this was your 5th failed cycle.
I'm pretty sure a good RE can make adjustments and have you produce less eggs but of better quality. I think you should consider another clinic.
IVF1: BFP 02/08 - Chemical 4 wks.
IVF2: BFP 06/08 - Miscarriage 6 wks.
IVF3: BFP 11/09 - Chemical
IVF4: dec/jan Dear Lord..please let this be the one.
sorry about your failed cycle. I would seek a second opinion before going to donor egg. It does sound like you were overstimulated which would account for bad egg quality. A lot of times the first cycle is an experiment to see how your body responds to meds.
Good Luck and Don't Give up.

Don't give up. Try 2nd opinion before you go to donner eggs. I have same experience as well, I just had ER, total 12 good quality eggs but only 1 fertilized and it is only 2 cells todays, not sure if it will become 6 cell or not for tomorrows' transfer. I understand it is so heart breaking to know the result.
Just wonder, did you do ICSI?, or just conventional fertilization? my clinic told me if I go for ICSI, then the fertilization rate can be much higher, usually 50% or more. I wish they told me earlier.
Just don't give up ok, get another opinion first. Best wishes to you
I agree with the other girls....don't give up. A couple friend of ours are in your same situation. They went for ICSI last month and although sperm count was low, they managed to have 3 eggs fertilised and transferred back at day 2. My friend is in the 2WW period at the moment.
