2 Failved IVFs : is there any Hope ?

Post by gjoshi »

Hi

Am new to this forum.

I have had 2 failed IVF's this year, one i Aug 2009 and 2nd one in Oct 2009. Had good quality Grade 1 (5 & 4 respectively) eggs transferred in each cycle, but both cycles failed.

My Re said, the reason could be eggs did not attach to the uterus. Is this the Only reason ? What else should i check for ?

I have one Blocked fallopian tube, PCOS, already undergone surgery for multiple fibriods removal n Ovarian cyst.

Right now uterus size is good, no problems with fibriods as per RE.

My Blood test had shown Prolactin was high in 1st IVF cycle, for which my RE gave me medication, but medication was given in middle of the IVF cycle.

When my 2nd IVF failed, i got my blood tested on Day 2 to see if any problems with hormones or sugar or thyriod. All readings are normal execept for Prolactin. Prolactin is still high, not sure if my Re had checked my prolactin count during my 2nd IVF cycle. Could that be the cause of my failed IVF?

Not sure, what I should do Right now, am taking Meds to get my Prolactin in control?

Anyone who can help ? Pls help me with your past experience?

Right now after underdoing surgeries and medications on 2 failed IVF's am not sure, who i should listen to?

Thanks

Hi there,
Don't give up. Like you, I had high Prolactin level and have both tubes blocked. Prolactin is a natural contraceptive, which is normally released by the body during lactation period, so you have to control it before starting the IVF treatment. That's what my doctor did at least. I was put on Bromocryptine (brand name Parlodel) to lower prolactin level a week or 2 before starting the IVF treatment last month. I am in my 2ww period so I still don't know the outcome yet but I was assured that Prolactin inhibits transplant of embryo. In fact I am still taking the bromocryptine.

Hope this was encouraging and of help.

Best wisheds
