Beta levels and no symptoms concern

Post by Bubbles13 »

Hi, I just got a BFP on IVF(#4) after several failed and the last one which was an FET m/c@6weeks(blighted ovum) and am really concerned whether , the signs I'm seeing may point to the same thing this time around.

I'm 5 weeks 2 days today and my concerns are:
- I had 3 betas (12dp5dt -561; 14dp5dt-1482; 18dp5dt-5956(today)). Although the % growth is more than doubled for all, 2nd to the 3rd time(today) didn't quite go up the same % as the 1st to the 2nd time.
- The only symptoms I've had so far are very very slight diziness and being tired. At about 4 weeks I thought I felt a second of nausea, but nothing since then. My breasts are also not sore or any larger really.

My 1st U/S is not until 11/20 (I'll be 6 weeks & 6 days then), so I'm hoping someone here may be able to shed some light on whether my concerns are valid or not.

Thanks so much!

ive only had one cycle of icsi, thankfully was successful, now 25 weeks pregnant.
i didnt really get any symptoms of pregnancy in the beginning either.
your betas are much higher than mine ever were, mine were only like 54 or something the first one then 110 or something like that the next time.,to me as a very big novice it seems like things would be going fine for you.
good luck

I do remember that as time went on, my beta rise slowed down to about 60ish%. So don't worry. Especially if the IVF clinic is not worried. I realize you are scared because of your m/c, but try to put it out of your mind. A large percentage of women who have miscarriages go on to have healthy pregnancies. The more likely possibility is that yours is a healthy pregnancy, esp. since the beta rise seems very good. Enjoy this time, and lots of baby luck :).

Bubbles,

I actually just looked more closely at your numbers... they totally doubled every two days, silly girl :). That's perfect! Also, forget the symptoms. It's too early to have strong symptoms. You'll get them soon enough. Lots of luck with that first ultrasound. I'm excited for you (knock wood).

Dear Bubbles13,

I am during my 2ww after my first IVF attempt and like you am worried because my symtoms seem to fade day by day. 12 years ago at the age of 19 I gave birth to a son (concieved naturally before my PID passed on by my cheater ex husband which left both tubes damaged). I never felt anything throughout the whole preganancy: no cramps, no breast tenderness/soreness, no nausea. I just started feeling tired when I was 2/3 moths preg and it didn't last much.

Now that I am 32 and waiting for a much awaited BFP, God willing, am scared that I do not get enough symptoms as compared to the other girls who did the IVF at the same time. However I do believe that everyone and every pregnancy is different. Age plays another factor too.

My suggestion is that if your results satisfy your doctor and he puts your mind at rest, you shouldn't worry. Try to keep calm and take care of your self.

Wishing you a healthy pregnacy and d cutest bundle of joy,
Lucienne

Thanks so much for the encoraging words...I know I shouldn't be putting much into symptoms, especially since throughout the 2ww I was CONVINCED and cried everyday that it was going to be a BFP since I didn't feel A THING! Its just so hard after having gone through so much. But thanks again for the positive words....it really helps. Also thanks for all the wishes and lots of baby dust to you all as well!

Just on another note..today I had another scare, I'm going to post under a separate topic in a sec....really hope I can put aside all this negativity:(

Bubbles,
These fears are sooo common during the 2ww. I've been through a BFN and a BFP, and I'm sure I'll freak out and be posting my worries in a month or two during my next 2ww. Try to do fun things with girlfriends/mom/DH to get your mind off it. I remember that is what I did during my BFP 2ww... maybe it helped!

Feel good, thinking good thoughts for you, and sending positive energy your way....

Hi Bubbles,
I was using crinone gel, a vaginal applicator and spotted during my 2ww. My clinic said the same thing that yours did (sorry, I am commenting on both of your posts here). It turned out, I was pregnant and I am now almost 14 weeks. I know it's scary, lately i've been having spotting even though both babies are fine, so even though our words of encouragement can help, i understand how frustrating it can be.

As far as symptoms go, don't put any thought into them at all! It's still too early and some of the symptoms from IVF might be waning, while some of the symptoms from the progesterone might start to kick in (sore boobs, cramping, etc). None of it really relates to pregnancy for another week or two, so just try to keep yourself sane by telling yourself that everything is fine and try to stay busy too! That's what helped me the most during this uneasy time. I swear, I thought the wait in between my BFP beta and my ultrasound was worse than the 2ww, I had a hard time sleeping! Hang in there and good luck1

Hi

The only symptoms I had early on was OHSS symptoms. Once they eased off I had very few symptoms til 7 weeks and then only very mild nausea.

Wishing you a healthy, happy pregnancy.

Some people have no symptoms at all the whole time and other throw up for 9 months. Don't worry about that. Your beta numbers seem to be doing great. And if your clinic isn;t worried, wither should you.
I have been nausious non-stop since Friday. I am thankful because I am finally PG, but I wish I was in your boat w/ no symptoms right about now.

Bubbles

Your numbers are strong and could possibly even be multiples.

Just wanted to let you know that when I was pregnant with my twins I had basically no symptoms at all. Good luck :)

Thank you all so much for your reponses. I've been staying off the net to try and keep my mind off of this (like thats even remotely possible). I'm 6 weeks 3days today and a wreck trying to think how I'll cope if the outcome is negative on fri...I know I should try and remain positive, but its SO hard. I still have NO m/s or ANY noticeable breast changes. How can this be? I can understand the no m/s but did any of you not have any breast changes. I'm also going to post this ? under a new post, hopefully I can find some hope and other ppl that went through this. It is really so nice to have the support of so many others in the same boat on this website!
