is it OK to have no symptoms post ET?

Post by jaye »

Hi, I'm 2 days post 5 day ET - I would really love to hear from anyone who's had a +ve test after ET whether they had any symptoms in the 2ww or not? I've had a teeny bit of cramping (so vague I'm not even sure I felt it), no spotting, mostly I just feel normal. Is this OK??? Have other people got a +ve after feeling nothing at all???? It's really doing my head in - and I have another 9 days of this to get through - not that I'm counting or anything.

Would really appreciate anything.

Jaye.

Hello....DON'T WORRY! You'll see from the boards that some people get a + after loads of symptoms, some after just a few symptoms and some after none at all. I'd say I've seen more of the latter, people for whom the + is a total shock because they'd had no indications that ET had worked.

The 2ww is pure agony, try to enjoy it :D Keep busy at work, set yourself a task to complete before the fortnight is over - anything to help the time pass.

Good luck,
Debra.

Hello again Jaye,
Previously Ive had four FETs and I can honestly say I felt absolutely no difference between the first two -ves and the last two +ves (unfortunately both early mcs... but each time hcg levels were fine... Im taking low dose aspirin this time to help my blood!) I promised myself that this time Id ignore any little signs or lack of signs but even with my own past experience its bloody impossible. I think distracting yourself is the best bet because symptom spotting can drive you potty and logically it makes no difference to the outcome (obviously)!! We are off to but a new kitchen now so Ill be obssessing about somethimg new for a wee while
hang on in there love annie

Thankyou both so much. That was just the kind of reassurance I was after. I guess I figure, well surely if you were pregnant you'd just know, wouldn't you? And never having been pregnant (despite LOTS of trying), I guess I figure every time I feel 'normal' it means it hasn't worked AGAIN - and I start to get so upset. Will try and distract myself with something - this might be the first time I've ever been thankful for work!

Thankyou both so much again.

Hi JAYE,

I found out I was positive on March 12th and did not have ANY symptoms during my 2ww. I just KNEW I had NO Menstral symptoms. No cramps or anything.
I only had sore breasts from the Projesterone shots I am taking.
So don't worry, not many woman have symptoms during the 2ww, it is too early for any pregnancy to have any.
GOOD LUCK AND KEEP US POSTED!!!!!

OK to have no symptoms?

Post by bina »

Hi all (esp. Jaye),
This is my first posting (read a lot of messages over the last few weeks, kidding myself I'd cope fine without getting involved...)
I'm in the two week wait (day 8) and have been through a roller coaster of emotions already. Feeling majorly bloated and constipated the first 5 days (andvery tearful) - then changed to vaginal insertion of the progesterone pessaries and now feeling totally normal! In fact even vaguely slim! I might have felt some twingey cramps yesterday and today , but because I'm sooo looking out for anything it's hard to say. Basically I feel far less mentrual symptoms than I normally have (boobs are far less sore). So what does that mean?
Not really expecting any answers - it's just so nice to know I'm not the only one going bananas over this...!
So, I'm also grateful for the advice someone gave of just finding distraction in work and stuff!
Cheers - good luck to everyone!

Hi Bina

Welcome to the site. You will find it such a support. What day are you on 2WW?? What is your test date??

Like I said in another thread there really are no hard and fast rules as to what you should be feeling in the 2ww. We are all different and everyone had something different to the next person.

Just try to be positive and drink lots of water. You are not alone if you go bananas we are all a little bit crazy on here. Some more than most  This whole IVF process makes you go a little crackers but it's good therapy to have a laugh especially with people who know what you are going through.

Lots of GOOD LUCK and BABY DUST is winging it's way over to you.

Hi Dagny,
Thanks for your encouraging words - just so nice to know so many people have such similar emotions, fears and worries.
My test date 27th, still another 6 days to go...whilst I sort of mentally prepare mayself for a negative, I know I should be thinking positive - but it's so much easier said than done!
Anyway, just keep telling myself the only way is up - whether that's a +ive or another cycle...!
By the way - has anyone switched centres after a failed cycle? We're at The Wolfson Clinic (Lord Winston et al), but their success rates are not as good as others (presumably because they get the tricky cases?) Just wondered about going elsewhere, should be have to...
Think Happy Thoughts everyone!

i am at the same clinic as you are and had one failed ivf/icsi and thought of changing clinics as the sucess rates were low but then decided to have another go which i got a positive result from two weeks ago i had no signs only what i thought was AF signs and set myself up for a negative i was so shocked when i got the positive i have my first scan tomorrow it has draged these last 2 weeks longer than the first 2ww i have stayed so positive until today im all over the place just want tomorrow to be here so i no whats what and i no what will be will be im just no good at the waiting game and thats what ivf is about.

wishing you loads of luck and sending you lots of PMA PMA PMA but keeping some for myself too

Hi Susan,
That is sooo encouraging to know - CONGRATULATIONS! Great news that it worked for you!
I shall hang in there and even if we have to have another go stick with the Wolfson for another attempt - hoping there'll be no need...!
Good luck for your scan - how exciting, it must be fantastic to get this far! So make the most of it!
Thanks for all your well-wishing!
All the best,
