BJONES- You were 5w6d on your ultrasound yesterday. You should be able to see at least something in the sac, unless your doc has a really poor quality u/s. Even then, they will see something, but just not in good detail. The fact that the sacs are measuring two weeks behind is not a good indication. It seems to me that you had two eggs implant, which is great, but that they stopped growing at about 4 wks. What did your RE say? Were they reassuring?
I am so sorry to be the one to be blunt. I really hope all turns out well for you...we would love to have you with us, so keep in touch and let us know. GL on Monday,
Melanie

AFM- Had first OB visit (with nurse practitioner (NP) and ultrasound. Both babies look great, I can't believe how much they grew. I could see their head and butt, even the brain and little buds for arms and legs. Baby B even moved for us. How totally cute! I finally heard their heartbeats for the first time  They are both measuring exactly on the right date and everything looked wonderful. Baby A is laying sideways, and B has it's little head up, butt down. Sorry TMI, just excited
Bummer was that my RE was letting me video tape my u/s's, but my OB's office policy is no video (bull crap liability stuff). I was hoping to tape it so DH could hear the heartbeats. They gave me pictures, but that's not the same now is it
Appt went well. I was there for like 2.5 hours. I won't have my next appt for 4 weeks (no u/s)! And I won't get my next u/s until I'm 16 weeks (2 months from now) I was very surprised by that since I'm kinda enjoying seeing the little rices every couple of weeks. I just figured since I was IVF and have twins, I would be followed more closely. Who knows though, I haven't had any face time with my OB, so maybe she'll want things differently. The NP was kinda giving me the schedule they give everyone which is mostly for singletons. You guys that have gone to OB's, are you going that long between u/s's? Are my fellow twin mamas being followed more closely?
BTW-Thanks to everyone who has been filling out the medication schedule. It was really cool to see the different regiments. I am going to ask my doctor to change me to Crinone gel. My poor hiney has had it.
Also good to know for the twin mamas, NP told me I had to add a 1mg supplement of Folic acid to my pills for the extra baby. Thought it may be good to know for anyone who hasn't had their OB appt. yet.
Well ladies, I am beyond tired today. I am having visions of my bed floating in my head :D
Good night, Melanie

sancap - I also feel good today and it worries me, too. I had and still have brown spotting during the day but I had my U/S (I get one every week) on Tuesday and RE said everything is perfect. But I am like you I am always worried that there might be something.

AFM - I am suprised that each clinic is having different u/s schedules for all of us. I guess I am one of the lucky ones with once's a week. I will dearly miss it when I go to the OB in week 12.

Hope everyone is doing fine.

Had my u/s today. All went very well. Despite the high HCG, we have 1 in there. Which is good, because with 2 in one sac we would have been very hgih risk. We had a nice strong heartbeat of 122bbp. Also the backbone was forming. It's crazy the difference a week makes. Last week I had a sac with a dot in it, the yok, and this week there was a baby with a beating heart and everything.
I go next Wed for another u/s and RE to release me to OB. I have OB appointment set for Dec 1. I will get another u/s then too. I like this. With my DD's, all I gow was a u/s at 8wks and one at 20wks.

lisa- YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYY!! So happy to hear you have one strong healthy baby growing! Congrats!!! :D

I just had 1 u/s with my RE then he released me and almost 2 weeks later had another with my OB. Now I wait a month...Dec. 4th for my next one. I think they do them once a month until a certain week then 2x a month until like a month before due date then every week so mine will actually get more frequent again the further along I get. Very interesting the different ways of monitoring...

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Going to PF Chang's for dinner then to see "Where the Wild Things Are" tonight with DH and 2 close, amazing, friends. YaY!

Lisa-Congratulations! That is wonderful news!

Shelby-How are you? Been busy with work again? Hope all is well.

All you other gals that get ultrasounds everyweek....lucky!!! My insurance only covers one ultrasound, so I have to pay out of pocket for the others. :(

AFM-I feel great too. No nausea....just a little fatigue. I dont have any desire to cook, clean, or do laundry. Preggo ladies should have a house keeper covered by insurance. DH is out of town, but he comes home tomorrow. :D

Kala - You better believe it! We have been swamped with this flu season and our computer module being down. Still having to do things by hand. Congrats on your little bean! I'm so happy for you!

Bjones - I do hope that things change on the next visit, but I think it would be good to be cautiously optimistic. I had a blighted ovum at this stage during my last pregnancy so I understand your concern. Please know I am praying for the best for you!

Bailey - Don't you just love having the u/s?! :)

Tonya - I feel your pain, girl! I have had the same problem with being sick CONSTANTLY! Luckily, it is easing up a little.

Lisa - Yay for one beanie!!! It only gets better!

Melanie - Fresh
1 ml Prog. in ethyl oleate every hs
2 Vivelle patches every 3 days
ASA 81mg every day
4800 mg folic acid every day (plus what's in vitamin)

AFM - U/s on Wed. went PERFECT! They were both moving and waving! DH's face lit up like the sun when he saw that! And we were both amazed because the RE did a 3D/4D u/s. AWESOME! He will do it again next week, too. They are measuring right on track. I will be on the meds until 12 weeks and RE will not let me go to OB until then either. YAY! I'm going to miss my peeps @ this office! HB are high (170's and 180's) and the ladies @ the office said that the old wives take says that high HB equals girls! DH better start getting out the guns to clean when the boys come over! LOL!

Have any of the twin mommies been told an acceptable amount of weight to gain in the first trimester? Also, for those of you who have already gone to your OB, have you been informed as to whether a C-section is standard for twin deliveries?

shelby I have friends who had twins vaginally. I think it all depends on both heads being down.

I had my repeat u/s today and had two strong heartbeats. They both measures exactly 6 weeks so they are 4 days behind which fits into the window of 5 days that ivf sometimes causes. Last week they could not see very well because I have a retroverted uterus. We had to wait for them to grow a little more to see them because of that.

All that worry for the past 5 days for nothing.
